Now I don't know if I would prefer Nagatoro to keep her energy throughout, since I personally think it would make her a bit of an unbelievable character to always say the type of stuff that made him break down and cry. But still, the rapid mellowing puts me out of sorts with the rest of it, and makes the reputation Nagatoro gets as a light BDSM manga even more bewildering.
As an aside, I don't think Nagatoro is not "ever seen as 'in the wrong' for doing what she does". I'd argued that the chapter 3's apology sort of does have Nagatoro acknowledging that she went too far. With that apology, and the fact that the chapters after become more tame, I see the manga making Nagatoro's earlier behaviors as something that needed to be changed. I think it is a common misreading and an invention of a hopeful mind to see Nagatoro as always in control. The first couple chapters, with the constant blushing, the little nervous energy of Nagatoro, and drawing back of that energy really more seem to me that the author is trying to portray her as a teenager who doesn't now how to express her feelings properly and goes overboard rather than someone who wants to dominate Senpai from the onset.
I'm curious about your thoughts on the above and if you continued reading it bi-weekly? Oh, and have you read the web novel?
I don't want to shame you, at all, for any of your kinks or interests, but I suggest you re-evaluate your view of bullying. It's not cute, especially not when the victim becomes dependent on it.
