Ahh I read this after reading the reviews about how awesome this manga was and honestly it seriously is a freaking awesome manga.
The storyline starts off with a girl Sarasa living in the shadow of her twin brother who is the "chosen one." Shit goes down and eventually Sarasa lives out her tale. The pretense of the storyline is definitely unique but nothing too out of the ordinary. It takes place in historical times with emperors and kings and all that jazz. (Reminds me of Akatsuki no Yona but less shoujo-y) The only big miss for me is that the author includes so many
...
people and so many places that sometimes I couldn't follow up on what was happening. And if you're anything like me and can't remember characters names, you will probably get hella confused while reading. I got the hang of it once I got more than halfway through. Other than that the plot and storyline were very enjoyable. But I have to say now that I've finished reading I understand that each location and each encounter was vital to the plot so yeah. I mean the mangaka could've excluded some things but I'm glad he/she didnt. If you start reading and you get frustrated please continue because you won't regret it!
The romance is very prevalent throughout this story. All I'm gonna say is that it seriously reminded me of Romeo and Juliet. I can't say more or else I'll spoil it for you!
The characters, although many, were very well developed and lovable. You get a taste of each character and because of this you will get attached. God I grew so fond of so many characters. At the end the mangaka also includes a little series of chapters delving into the lives of the characters after the whole story. If you like that sort of thing then yeah that happens here.
The art is pretty old fashioned but I really like old fashioned mangas so I didn't really have a problem. The only thing is that some panels would be drawn weird so I couldn't understand what was happening. The art wasn't coherent at times but it happened very rarely so yeah you'll be fine.
Overall I would give this an 8/10. Just for some minor flaws here and there but I seriously enjoyed this story. The plot wasn't shallow and the whole time I was pretty captivated into reading more. I would suggest giving this a shot!

Jesus let me say right off the bat this manga is in my top 5 which is pretty insane cause I'm really picky with mangas. PS If you're coming here after reading Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki kun, you're in for something so similar but so different (but in a good way!)
Just as Gekkan Shoujo is very comedy based it's very present here! Let me tell you I seriously can't remember any other manga where I've actually laughed out loud so many times. This is seriously freaking hilarious. If you especially love the comedic style of GSNK then you'll love this one (considering it's from the
...
same mangaka lol) Anyways branching off from the comedic aspect the plot is kinda heavy as well. It was actually shocking to me when I got up to it but it was a good shock. The beginning is light hearted and hilarious but as you get deeper into it, it's not just that. I've actually cried while reading this (idk if that was the mangakas goal or if i'm just super sensitive BUT I FEEL FOR THE CHARACTERS OK) Ultimately I think thats what makes this manga extremely charming. It keeps you going and interested because it's not just comedy. Not gonna lie I love laughing but It brings it to a whole other level when you realize that these characters have a depth to them as well.
The only thing else I would have to say about the plot is that if you're expecting to see more romance then in GSNK gurl sorry to disappoint. I WAS EXPECTING SOME MORE LOVING 2 OK BUT NOPE. The mangaka sprinkles it here and there but It's just every time there is a romantic situation 99% of the time it turns from (oh god the romance is finally happening) to (jk lets make this comedic). So the romance is there but the characters don't take it seriously. At this point idk if the mangaka is planning to just end it on a comedic note rather than a serious one but I'm hoping for the romance to at one point be seriously present. Cause this manga is fully capable of that happening without it being too wtf.
Now speaking of the characters, the mc Mafuyu is absolutely amazing. I love her so much WEHFWRF. SHES SO FUNNY AND ADORABLE AND DUMB BUT UGH SHES PERFECT. <3 I really can't explain her any further you'll just have to meet her yourself. Anyways, now I'm that girl who seriously hates when mangakas delve into the lives of the side characters bc most of the time i could give a sht less right? But with this manga I've never once thought "ugh can we get back to the mc now?" BECAUSE I JUST LOVE ALL THE CHARACTERS SO MUCH. They're so adorable and ugh seriously I love them ;-; and YOU WILL TOO.
The artwork is extremely enjoyable and smooth. The characters each have their own charm and distinguishable characteristics. I've read mangas where the face never changed and the only distinguishable thing was their hair and it sometimes honestly would confuse the heck out of me because I couldn't really tell who was who?? Idk if im just stupid but I really appreciate distinct characters and this mangaka does just that.
Overall would I recommend? HELL YES. It's funny but has an actual plot which GSNK lacks. If you want another GSNK but deeper this is the one for you! Seriously read this and you won't regret it.

Let me start off by saying that this is a very light hearted manga! I enjoyed it because it was a very chill read. This would be good to read after reading some intense manga for recuperation haha.
The plot overall is a typical shojo plot. Theres a girl and she falls in love etc etc but it doesn't drag like a regular shojo manga normally does, which was extremely refreshing; hence why I said it's a very chill read. The story line progresses pretty smoothly and it was cute overall. The manga doesn't really have a lot of depth and therefore goes by quickly.
...
There is a plot that is kinda serious but they don't really integrate it into the story too much. That can be seen as either a good or bad thing but I was looking for something simple so it satisfied me. That's probably why I wouldn't give this a 10/10 though. The plot honestly lacked depth and sometimes the way the characters reacted to situations was kinda unnatural. But I wasn't expecting much from the beginning so yeah I was okay with it.
Ultimately I would recommend this only if you're not looking for something with depth and just want a light hearted read.

I compare this one with the "1st season" of subaru and honestly I feel like nothing really has changed? There definitely has been character development and the artwork seriously got better imo but the plot kinda remains the same. Subaru is already this genius dancer and she's trying to improve herself in different areas. She always pulls through somehow and I can't shake off the feeling that her life is too good to be true. I feel like it's all just gonna come crashing down but who knows. I can't find any english scanlations after chapter 72 even though the mangas finished!! Ugh the struggles.
...
Anyways, the flow of the plot is nice but I feel like it's really quick? Like she struggles but she quickly overcomes them and as a result as a reader I dont empathize with her. I feel like it'd be better to see her struggle more but because she's this abnormal genius she just gets by. It's like I don't have time to empathize with her because shes so "perfect." It's just as how I felt while reading the 1st season.
Despite that, one of the most obvious changes is that theres now more romance in Subaru's life. And yes the guys get much more attractive. Oh god I'm always awestruck looking at the "main guy" because he's just so gorgeous. But even so, it's not too too prevalent. Just expect more Subaru rather than romance.
I would say it's also less dreary but only slightly. The 1st season was so intense compared to this one. (well atleast from what i've been able to read). At one point they also dive into a side character's background story. Idk if you like it when mangakas introduce a "second mc" but it happens here. I'm not too fond of it but if it's necessary to build the connection between Subaru and the other than I guess it's fine.
Welp that's all I'm gonna write because can't think of anything else. As for how I think of this, I would give it the same rating I gave the first one which was an 8. Pretty good but it's still lacking in something. I'm assuming you're reading this after having finished reading Subaru! Dance, so would I recommend you read this? Yeah sure, if you got hooked on the 1st part. But if you felt meh then I think you're better off just reading summaries to see how it all ends. I've never been drawn in particularly by this manga. I've been just killing time honestly. I could've lived without reading more.

Let me just start this review right off the bat with the fact that in the first 10 minutes of me reading this manga I was literally in tears sobbing. Now idk if that's cause i'm just an emotional wreck but I think thats still amazing regardless. And I'm seriously not exaggerating when I say I was sobbing.
I only got into this after seeing it under suggestions after finishing Glass Mask, and there are definitely similarities. But this manga, unlike Glass Mask, is intense and in a sense really morbid. I would definitely recommend this only for the mature readers. If you're
...
looking for something with the same vibe as Glass Mask I wouldn't say this is for you. The only thing similar is the irregular talent both mc's have but other than that its a totally different feeling. I was kinda depressed reading this story. I realized as I read further and further that there was something so disconcerting about the main character but I couldn't express it in words. It's kinda weird the vibe I was left with upon reading the last chapter. (But theres a sequal of sorts so I'm going to read that after finishing my review)
The overall plot is interesting and as I explained above it made me, the reader, pretty uncomfortable. But I think the ability of the mangaka to draw out my emotions like that is what made me want to read on. The manga is very real. Now I'm not saying the manga's plot is realistic but it's very real in the sense of the characters emotions and their reactions to things. It's very human. The mc is a girl who has many tragic flaws and it's almost as if her life is literally her "destiny." She is going to end up where she ends up and it's futile to change her course. Idk if this is the direction the manga is going to go but the feeling I get after finishing it.
Now I wouldn't say this is a masterpiece but I think it was a good read. If you're interest is piqued based on what I've said above I would recommend this!

Ok so after much contemplation on whether or not I should read this, I gave it a shot. Honestly my first impression was "holy crap this manga is over 50 years old and its still ongoing! And dam this art style is old and not really my cup of tea." Despite that I swallowed my doubts and read on.
This manga is actually really captivating. The storyline keeps you on edge and it didn't take me long for me to get over the fact that I thought the characters were ugly. If you enjoyed skip beat, this is a more serious version. Skip beat is
...
very romance driven as well as comedic; meanwhile, glass mask really focuses in on Maya and her development as an actor. The romance is present but it's not really romance driven per say. Maya encounters men in her life and passes them along similar to real life relationships. Some guys stuck with her while others just vanish. Albeit the whole love development with a guy 11 years older is a bit bizarre, its a thing that i've come to terms with lmao. Other than that I can't help but cheer on Maya and her conquests as an amateur actor.
The portrayal of the emotions of each character are pretty great as well. Kutos to the mangaka for depicting it so well. I've come to appreciate the mangaka's art style. Inside of this manga are many other stories played out by Maya. It's interesting to see her act out her roles. It made me feel like I was part of the audience in the manga watching her and getting hooked onto the plot of the play. It's pretty interesting!
The only real downside I would have to say is that the mangaka is taking way too long that it's actually kinda ridiculous. I heard speculation that up to volume 49 had been released but they just haven't been translated. But I'm not sure if it's the old version thats out or the new version? I heard that the the mangaka wasn't satisfied with the old version because it diverged from the plot too much into romance. So she refused to have the volumes to continue to be published and rewrote the volumes? Idk these are all rumors I read on google. And I also heard volume 50 would be the last but who knows. Ugh idk dam I can't imagine how people who have read this manga from the beginning feel about waiting this long for this to be finished lol.
Overall if you wanna get into a manga focused about acting with a hint of romance this is for you! But honestly if you get hooked you're gonna have to join the band wagon of having to wait for updates for who knows how many more years.

I've just finished the series after binge reading it from chapter 1 and this is my raw unbiased review. (PS there might be some stuff I say that you might consider a spoiler so read at your own discretion. I never blatantly spoil anything but I hint at stuff so yeah)
The plot is honestly meh.. Like it was enough to keep my attention and allow me to have me finishing the story without stopping but that's only because I was expecting something. I thought there would be more but there wasnt (?) Ugh idk I kinda feel unsatisfied even though it technically had a
...
"happy end." (For those of you who had read Shugo Chara the same feeling I had upon finishing that I felt after finishing this.) The plot is basic but it is unique. Theres a rich strong willed girl who had her fair share of problems and now is stuck in between a love triangle involving various people. The manga tried to make it an emotional roller coaster and it was but I never got caught up in it as a reader. All the twist and turns I kinda expected. The storyline was smooth but I feel like it happened all too quickly. Like everything felt almost rushed and I feel unsettled after finishing it. If she had taken her time and not have had so many characters shoved on to the main character I feel like it would've been better. She would finish and face one problem but then another one would hit her in the face. The mc had no time for recuperation nor did the readers.
The romance is a huge part of the plot. Very romance driven but the romance didn't really have a depth to it in my opinion. The mangaka may have tried to portray a depth but because she had multiple people with her she was never fully invested in one person and that emotionally wore me out as a reader lol. I was hoping for her to end up with person A but then person B would do something to change my mind and it was all back and forth and it became old at one point. It's a simple romance trying to be a complex one.
The characters overall were likable. But I never thought wow this chara is really great. They were kinda plain. Haine is a cute heroine but I feel like I was expecting more from her and never was satisfied. I can't say she was a typical heroine cause she did have some different aspects about her but because there was so much crap going on I never could fully appreciate her character. There were so many side characters as well. And because the spotlight would shine on one person for a little amount of time then switch to another I never appreciated any of them.
I would overall recommend this if you want to kill some time. Don't go into this expecting too much. It was a decent read but nothing that made me really love it.

Haha honestly I give this manga a 10/10. I've never been so obsessed with a manga before. The artwork is beautiful in my opinion and the story line is attractive and interesting. Seriously one of my top 3. The romance is great as well. It's not overbearing but it's there enough for it to be part of the story. I seriously love this manga. I'm always smiling stupidly at cute scenes and have even cried because the story got to me. I've re-read this several times as well and enjoyed it every time!
The characters are also great all in their own aspects and I've
...
never thought that a character was not needed. Each plays their own role perfectly and I've come to love and appreciate each and every one of them. And if you love strong heroines you'll seriously love Yona. Shes adorable and is growing in her own way. I absolutely hate mangas where the main character takes forever to take the first step and actually develop. There's so much character development in this story it's great. You can see how each and every one of them has grown and I love it.
The storyline as well has a nice depth to it. It's not a shallow shoujo where the story revolves strictly around romance. Each character has their own story and the mangaka brought together everything nicely. It's nice that we get to see the backgrounds of side characters and not just the mc's. Some people may not like it but I really do seeing as it creates a whole other opportunity for the readers to really appreciate the side characters. The storyline flows very nicely and I never once thought "this mangaka is pulling shit out of her ass." I'm seriously always on the edge of my seat waiting for the next update and I'm never disappointed at the progression of the plot.
And this is low key a reverse harem. Haha I say low key because it's not like everyone's trying to the mc's pants. Not at all. They treasure her too much to even try :') It's absolutely adorable. The bishounen game in this manga is strong hee hee
Overall would I recommend this? YES DEFINITELY! STOP READING MY REVIEW AND QUICK START READING THE MANGA.

This manga was absolutely amazing. I've always been hesitant to read this and I'm ultimately grateful to myself that I gave it a shot. I don't think I've ever cried this much while reading a manga. I literally broke out into sobs and had to muffle myself because I was reading this at like 1 AM.
The story is very interesting and the art was outstanding. The way the mangaka played everything out fit together like a puzzle piece. I enjoyed the fact that it jumped from present to future in a methodical way. I honestly would recommend this to everyone. This is something everyone
...
should experience and I promise you won't regret it.
The characters are also 10/10. Each one plays their role and is key throughout the manga. There's also light comedy in this which makes it very enjoyable. The romance, sadness, and laughter all fuse together so perfectly in an enjoyable way. I never thought once while reading that the story was dragging or that the characters were getting annoying. The length of the work is perfect and I wouldn't ask the mangaka to change anything. Some stories I've read drag like crazy and the ending ends up leaving a bad taste in my mouth but this one was perfect.
I heard an anime adaption is coming out the summer of 2016 so I suggest you give this a read before the anime series comes out! You all know how it is, the written work 9x out of 10 is always better.
WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD:
The only thing that bugged me a little was the fact that it was never clearly explained as to how the letters got sent back to the past. It was annoying but I guess they went to the bermuta triangle? Idk it's fine though because the overall story was amazing.

Okay so I personally feel like this manga was not as good as it could've been. The characters each were pretty deep but I feel like they weren't explored into enough, especially the main character male. Honestly this is pretty refreshing compared to all the typical romance mangas but I felt very unsatisfied upon finishing the manga. Overall the art was beautiful but I feel that there should have been more development with the story and the characters as well.
(SPOILERS AHEAD!!) Ok so honestly the way that the manga started was very unsettling for me. She meets random people who want her to model
...
and the next second she's apparently in love with the male main character. THE HECK. And it's not even a crush she flat out says "I'm in love with this dude." GOD. And he's very mysterious and some may feel like thats a good thing but I still feel like I have no idea who the heck the main male lead is and I don't like that. He just disappears to Europe at the end and poof he's gone. And in the end she ends up with the guy she first had a crush with. Omg it irks me so much because all throughout the manga she showed no emotion for the guy she ends up with. If anything i feel like she should've ended up by herself or some thing. This manga has a lot of mystery to it and definitely leaves the readers to their own interpretation. But basically to summarize what I got from the manga is a stupid girl who, yes has gone through hardships, becomes a toy for a narcissistic, shallow man and ends up not together in the end because they both know it won't work. A very realistic story that's not cliche but could've definitely been developed more. The girl still shows love for him at the end when he leaves but that thought is completely thrown in the trash when she's seen married to a different man almost 10 years later. (10 YEARS COMPLETELY NOT EXPLORED INTO.) We basically have no idea what happened to the main lead besides the tiny bit of info that he's making costumes for theater. Ugh honestly I might get hate from my review but this is just my personal opinion. I still loved the characters but ya know like I've repeatedly said, they could've been explored more into. And one last thing I actually hate the main character girl. She's very bland. Her mother was absolutely terrible to her but doesn't do anything to stand up for herself really. She forgives her mother when she gets slapped. Also the mother is very shallow. She only likes success and even favored the younger son over her daughter. But when her daughter proves that she can make it in the modeling industry she does a complete 180 and all of a sudden supports her. Such a disgusting parent. And yet the main char doesn't seem to mind and goes about her business. Ugh her relationship with her mom was one of the main reasons she felt the way she did in the beginning of the manga and I was hoping for some big thing to happen but it never did. (I don't consider her running away a big thing and neither do I consider the mother crying a big thing because right after she continues to abuse her daughter by slapping her across the face completely disregarding the fact that a model's face is everything.) Basically the mom's attitude never changed. Only thing that she did change was the fact that she supports her daughter's modeling career.
UGH god this manga was frustrating to me and to be honest would not recommend but it wasn't the worst thing I've ever read. (PS I'm sorry it might sound like i'm rambling and not make sense but I marathoned this manga in like 4 hours and feel very crazy right now.)
