I decided to watch Colorful from searching through my friend's plan to watch list lol I came across this, seemed interesting and I finally watched it today. It was really good. I give this an 8.
Story: (9) I was very intrigued by the story. A soul, whom does not have a voice, notices that he is in purgatory. That's what it looked like to me, and he is selected to be reincarnated to start life over as someone else whom committed suicide. His guide is who he calls an angel. He wakes up in the hospital bed and is being told that he is now
...
Kobayashi kun. Throughout his journey in this new life, he is trying to battle out something's. His life, his future in the physical world or spirit world, his family and so forth. It is a really well put together story and I really enjoyed it.
Art: (9) Me being an artist, of course I was going to fall in love with the art that's presented in this. Kobayashi kun is an artist, and super good at it too. His paintings mean so much and you can tell just by looking at it. They really focused on one of his paintings throughout the whole movie and you will see why at the end. The background and sceneries in the movie were awesome. The colors were vibrant and realistic. Love how they did everything.
Sound (8) Sound was great. Nothing too special when it comes to the background noise. The voice actors were very good. I was really drawn to Kobayashi kun voice. His voice was ok but I haven't heard that voice before. Guess I'll look up the voice actor who did him. Also, I liked the weird girl, Sano san. I liked when she studders or kept repeating herself with the following of "Hm. Hm." lol
Characters (8) Characters were cool. What I took most out of this movie besides the story and the message from it, I was so drawn to Kobayashi kun's mother. That poor mother has been through so much trying to keep her family together. She didn't have a good relationship with her mom but she helped her as much as she could in her life. She has tried to grow closer with her son but he kept pushing her away. Basically, bullied her. But she still kept trying and holding on. Because she loved her family. And there is one scene that made me so sad. Everyone at the table is eating and she is crying outloud at the table, and no one says anything to her. That hurt my heart.
Enjoyment: (8) I really liked this. I enjoyed it a lot. The characters, the message, the story. It was some great work and I applaud everyone who made this movie possible because it seems like the movie ratings or reviews aren't up there.
Overall (8) It was hard to say 9 or 8 for this film but I think it deserves an 8. It is really good and I think a lot of people could learn from this and enjoy it. Hope I helped. Jee ne :)

I started watching this because I am a fan of Yazawa Ai. I was so happy to know that she has done a number of manga's and anime's other than NANA or Paradise Kiss. I loved Paradise Kiss so much but did not know that it is a sequel of Neighborhood Story or Gokinjo Monogatari. I had to rewatch it because Mikako, Tsutomu, Rika and Norijii were all in Paradise Kiss. I love how the character's Yazawa creates are all in the same dimension because you really feel like your favorite characters are getting older but still living their lives as if they are real
...
people. Such uniqueness from Yazawa.
Now I wasn't too thrilled with seeing the opening of this anime because it looks so old, the characters are drawn in a funny way, none of the female characters have boobs and the music was kind of blah. But, somehow, you get hooked on the show and start to enjoy it without realizing.
Story (9)
Story is great. I love that everyone is in a Art school. Each character has goals and aspirations that are different from typical anime out here so I enjoyed that. Also because I can relate to most of the characters as well. Mikako wants to have her own brand and sell her handmade clothes. Her friends study, work hard and make everything that they by hand to sell at the flee market. It just goes to show that hard work really pays off! There's a lot of love triangles that takes place in this anime. It might become too much at times but just follow along. Great story. You see the characters unfold when the time is right and you get to learn a lot from this anime too.
Art (7)
Of course the art isn't all that great but it doesn't matter because the story and plot is what keeps you watching. Also, I realized that even though the females are drawn a certain way and don't seem to have womanly features such as breasts, hips and thighs, they are still beautiful in their own way. Especially with the several fashion ideas and clothes they wear. I kind of liked that because you don't have to draw a busty woman just to make her look sexy. It's all about the personality of the person, or in this case, the characters.
Sound (7)
Many of you aren't going to like the music. it took me awhile to get used to it but I grew to like it.
Character (9)
I love the characters mainly because it's a creation of Yazawa Ai. But also since I am a big NANA lover, i like to think that Mikako is Hachi and Risa is Nana, Risa's boyfriend is Ren and Yuusuke is Takumi.. But that's just me and my fantasies lol I grew to love all the characters even though some of them annoyed me. Mikako annoyed me through half of the show because she is actually a tsundere character to the fullest. But I learned to appreciate and love her and her personality because most girls go through the same feelings and thoughts. Everyone has thought of something that isn't true or loved a person so much but couldn't tell him so you be mean to them for no reason. Or when you see your lover talking to someone else you get jealous. Mikako goes through so many emotions that you learn to love because she is like most people, even yourself. There's a lot of ups and downs in this anime and in the end, it will be all worth it.
Enjoyment (9)
I enjoyed this very much. I liked the story, I liked the characters, I like how creative everything is and the journey of a young girl trying to sell her fashion brand clothes, with the conflicts of relationships and family. Yet she still tries her best to become successful. Her and everyone else in her group. It's a bitter sweet kind of anime. The one thing I hate about this anime is the filler episodes and the constant flashbacks. Sometimes it would be so long and so repetitive that it can take up half of an episode! So, its ok when you know when to skip a few minutes but all in all its a pretty good watch.
Overall (9)
I was going to rate it a 7 at first but after finishing the show and looking back on it, the story was really great. Especially for an anime back in the 90s with a story like this. I really enjoyed it and to everyone that has seen Paradise Kiss, please watch this anime and watch Paradise Kiss again. You will enjoy it 10xs more because now you fully understand each character and the message being sent about women, aspirations and goals, and conflict with love and family. Thank You.

I found this anime because I wanted to know if there were any other anime's that has to do with acting besides Skip Beat. I was told Glass Mask is the best acting anime out there and I have to agree. I find Glass Mask to be remarkable because of it's story line, the plays, the tips and tricks actors do, how to be on stage and capture your audience.
Story (9)
I give this story a 9. I wanted to give it a 10 but like some anime's it lacks a few things. The only thing that this story lacks is the romance. It kinda builds
...
you up to something but in the end it leaves you dissatisfied. but because you have come so far and on the edge of your seat watching all 51 episodes, you can't help but give this anime a great rating. I'm not giving out any spoilers on the show but I had to put out that this is what the show lacks, especially on the last episode. I heard it is because the manga is still not finished so they kind of did an open ending to the anime because the manga is ongoing. Other than that, beautiful story. Everything was executed nicely.
Art (8)
I mean, the art isn't all that great. This anime came about around 2005-2006 so your gonna get 2005-2006 anime art. Nothing's wrong with it. Still paints a pretty great picture. Especially when the characters go on stage. You can really see and imagine everything that they are doing because of the art and animation. I enjoyed it.
Sound (9)
I gave sound a 9 because I love the intro and outro songs. Also, the music that plays during the characters act, went with it nicely and everything followed with each other well. The best part of the sound is when they were on stage. You could really feel and understand each character and the different stories with the help of the sound and music.
Characters (9)
I give characters a 9 and not a 10 due to the lack of romance. BUT other than that, I loved every single character. These aren't typical characters that you see in most shojo anime. It's very realistic and can strike a nerve. Each character had their own story. You get episodes sharing each person's story too which makes you relate to each of them more. They all have their drama, their own lives and they are putting that aside for the love of acting. The love of being on stage. They overcome so much and are destined to meet each other. You get to understand why certain characters act the way they do, how does their job put so much stress on them and also it shows people trying to control Maya, the main character, and how she overcome all the bad and all the obstacles that are put in her way. She has heart and passion. Her rival Ayumi is a great character. Their rivalry I have to say is different because they are actually really nice to each other but are still competing to be the best for their own personal matter. So you would see a lot of conflicting emotions with that. But Yyu will enjoy these two characters. And also Maya's teacher. She is the real star of the show. A lot of twists and turns in this anime so it will always keep you watching.. binge watching, that is.
Enjoyment (10)
I love this anime so much, it was all that I was watching for the past 3 or 4 days I believe. It had me glued to the tv because of the story and the different plays that Maya and the others had to play. How each of them got their selves prepared and ready for the part. How each of them found the mask of their character, nearly killing their selves just so they can understand the part. It is truly an interesting watch.
Overall (9)
I give it a 9. It is a great watch to where you can relate to each character, learn a thing or two about acting and also find some enjoyment in different stories and plays that were put in the anime. I hope this helped even though it's a little lengthy. But if you have been stuck and don't know what anime to watch next that keeps you engaged and into your feels, I recommend that you watch this next.

Alright, Strobe Edge. I wish they made it into an anime but there is a live action movie that I will watch later. Strobe Edge is about the crazy in so called love Ninako chan. But I mean, she never knew what love is until she experienced stomachaches lol.. What I got the most of this story is kids striving to be mature and act like adults. And also, of course, experiencing your first love.
Story: 8
Just so you know, this is one of those typical love stories and depending on which romance manga's you like, you may not be attracted to this one. It's the
...
same where it's a love triangle and two best friend's love the same girl and blah blah blah. Yes, same typical plot but i enjoyed the story and wanted to know when will everything come together with all the characters. I love the school, slice of life feel. It makes you feel like your really in school and experiencing all the fun, anxiety, good times and triumphs that these characters go through. The story somewhat has it's own originality to it and the fact being that you can't wait to get to the end, especially when you hit those key pages where it made Ninako chan forget to breathe or made her heart thump, you would be going through the same feelings too. It's great that it makes you feel like a kid again. And makes you think of how you felt during your first love experience. You know you were as naive and love sick just like these characters.
Art: 8
Art wasn't too bad. it kinda reminds me of Bokura Ga Ita manga for a second. How big and glossy Ninako chan's eyes are. How Ren kun's face looks like he doesn't care about things and Andou kun with his smiles but heartache behind it. Also, some images have missing or one eye and that's what reminds me of Bokura Ga Ita. But, there's also some action scenes in this manga as well, and I like how the drawings don't confuse you of what you think it's trying to portray. It's clean and able to understand.
Character: 9
This is what makes the manga enjoyable. The character development. Granted, only character I wished was more to it is Ren kun. He was still left mysterious to me, his background. But everyone else are love able, they might make mistakes but they are kids trying to learn from their past. Kids with goals, kids with balls of emotions and learning how to deal with them, and kids that simply wanting to do their best. The great part of this is that they are a few couples that they continually talk about and don't get left behind. Everyone in the group are all friends so when they go through their high school years together, it makes it enjoyable that no one is left behind because everyone's story is great to hear. Character development was on point.
Enjoyment: 8
There are pages in the manga where you might feel bored. But each chapter usually ended pretty well to me. Kept you wanting to know more.
Overall: 8
I give this an 8 because I love the characters so much. Especially Andou kun. He's adorable and I love that he learns how to be the person he's supposed to be too. Out of all, he became the most matured I think. But you can decide that when you read the manga.

This manga was posted on my recommendations list. I am thankful for reading this. This manga is one of the most beautiful, moving and emotional manga I've read. Its so realistic and universal. You will instantly get hooked and pulled into their world. A world of lies and sin. Change and love. It will teach you about how precious life is. Yours and everyone's else's.
Story: 10
The story is amazing! Anyone can relate to this! If it doesn't relate to you personally, I'm sure you know someone who has been going through the same emotions as these characters. I too can relate to both of these
...
characters and that's what makes this story even more awesome. It toys with your emotions. It makes you question happiness. It changes your way of thinking. It teaches you compassion. And that, is what makes this story outstanding because of the life lesson it teach.
Art: 9
I personally enjoyed the art. It wasn't too much or too little. But enough to paint the picture in your mind. I love how in this manga, it shows a lot of images with no words. It was more of the scenery for you to grasp panel by panel of what is happening. It made it more emotional too on most parts. The art is really well.
Character: 10
The characters, flashbacks, and their story was executed outstandingly. I love how it wasn't all predictable. It is where you could put aside what you were taught is right or wrong, good or bad. And just feel and understand the lives that Mitou and Yuu have lived. What they have learned in their process. Their grief.
Enjoyment: 10
I enjoyed this bitter sweet story. I can't get enough of it. I might actually read it again.
Overall: 10
Need I say more? It's an awesome story that deserves a score of 10. You won't regret it.

I give this story a 10. I watched it because it was recommended if you enjoyed the anime Nana created by Ai Yawaza. Her stories are always powerful and have a lot of different and unique characters to relate to. The plot was wonderful. For other being only 12 episodes, I was worried that the story would be sped up with alot of confusion but no, perfect pace and it ended nicely. Some people didn't agree with the ending but I say it was satisfying once you realize the meaning of everything that happens on this anime.
For the art, very realistic. And also, alot of
...
people hate seeing an anime with a bunch of characters that look the same and hard to follow. Everyone here are unique and have their own distinctive look. Different voices, they all don't sound the same. Also, this anime is about fashion, so the different styles of clothing they create here is pretty nice too. Some people thought it's ugly or old fashion but people need to remember that this is an older done anime. Fashion sense were different then. I seen what was being portrayed with the art given here. The main character, Caroline is changing and learning new things about her and how to control her life, so in each episode her fashion sense grows as well as her maturity and independence.
For sound, the opening song isn't too bad. I know it's called Lonely in Gorgeous. Also, since I watched the anime Nana English dubbed, I did the same for this anime to see if the voices were sorta similar or the same. They were similar. I watched it English sub and their voices fit well with the characters too.. the little music that is played in the background fits well with the scenes. Nothing that jumps out, most noticeable songs played are the intro and outro.
For the characters, I am only going to do the main character because I am trying not to spoil it.. Yukari aka Caroline, she's basically the main character. Her mom is very strict on her and for her 18 years all she's done is study to become the best in school, for her mother. Once her new friends discovered her inner talent before she could, she then elopes for several days. Confident in her choices. Trying to find what exactly she wants for herself, and no one else. How to be your own person and not make excuses or blame others for the decisions you make. The relationship she goes through with her boyfriend George and her other fashion friends helps her grow up and become an adult. Not knowing she actually had someone in her corner to give her advice, she gets herself together and do things the right way. She's also given an ultimatum but does not regret her decisions. Everything is a learning experience and viewers can relate to her because it's something that everyone faces in their life. But she actually had the courage to not follow in anyone's footsteps except her own. It was either a beginning of a new love or beginning of a new career. The message was very powerful on the last episode and it's not a sad one, it's a realistic ending with no sugar coating.
George, Yukari boyfriend and also head of fashion line Paradise Kiss, I felt that the creator made viewers wishy washy with him. The whole time you think he's being a fake controlling person but overall he was very kind, thoughtful and sweet to Yukari. There are a lot of things left unsaid about him that makes you not like him so much but can see how much love the both of them had for each other. These two are the ones you will remember the most. The other characters are great as well. I love all of them and all of them have their own story which I love. You get to know where they all come from from , flashbacks occur as well and the passion they all have and strive for.
All and all, I love a anime that is realistic and that I can relate to. I don't really like short animes but the message is powerful and universal. I recommend this anime and it's one of those you would watch again. I hope my review helped out and I hope whomever that reads would watch it and get a taste of how well put together it is.
