"I want to know,
I want to know what 'love' means."
Violet Evergarden approached mainly the expression of feelings and the problems that come with it.
It has also shown what it's like to lose someone you love and how it can be "too late" when it happens. The focus was on the loss of loved ones in almost all episodes except for like 3 episodes or so.
The war was also o big theme with its consequences to which divergences may lead; and it focused a bit on what it is to deal with the "weight of the past".
Above all, it's an anime that approaches
...
the concepts of overcome and moving forward, even though there might be things that make us believe that everything is meaningless.
It was lovely to see Violet developing and finding courage and motivation
to move on and live.
The animation was beautiful, KyoAni never disappoints; The soundtrack was really good too, even though sometimes it was applied in a strange way.
Personally, I am a tough cookie who never cries, but Violet Evergarden left me teary many times and I'll give it credit for that.
I won't rate it 10 because I was hoping for a more conclusive ending, with no trace for any kind of doubt but I guess that little mystery is part of its charm.
