The bar is being set higher and higher, and chinese are reigning at the top of the pyramid with this banger. Judging from the Character lineup, most of the characters are yet to be introduced yet I find this to be a very epic beginning to something that's gonna be the dark horse of this season. This has both 3D and 2D animation sliding in very smoothly and just perfectly. This is still just a very preliminary review at 2/24, but I was honestly compelled to leave this here before the review section gets flooded (yes that's how popular this is gonna get).

No Brainer. No matter what you're into, I highly doubt anyone can even remotely hate this.
This is a one stop solution to all your mental troubles. Right off the bat, the very first panel and every single panel that follows is a work of art. Every chapter slaps like a fresh spring breeze. The story doesn't really feel like a plot in succession but rather little fragments of live moments between our MCs Alex and Emma taken out from their lives. Their chemistry is insanely cute and sexy at the same time. The tension, the little teasing, the jokes and happy moments are so well ... Apr 3, 2025

This deserves way way way more love and attention than what it currently has. Interesting world building, uniquely designed characters with great individualistic and realistic personalities and beautiful artwork. Supernatural elements or something else? You have to find out for yourself. There are twists and turns in the plot when you least expect them. Romance is a slow burn, but the fantasy work distracts you enough and then pulls you right back into the plot. Things move rather fast, not a single dull moment so far either. -Read at your own risk, cause once you start; you can't stop scrambling for more. Mar 16, 2025

A Relay Race.
This part-fiction | part-reality story is not focused on completing a collective goal, but rather more heavy on passing off the baton to the next best available person whom they might or might not even know/seen/heard of. Complete faith in not just themselves, but also in strangers that in the rarest of probability 'might' be interested in taking their legacy forward. That's Orb and it's protagonists for you in a nutshell. Having just finished the anime adaptation too, I must say this is one of those very rare storytelling masterpieces that no matter in what medium; would excel in relaying what's supposed to ... Not your average dramatic anime, if 'feels' was an anime, Sonny Boy would be just that.
Before you realize what's happening with the plot, you'll be nearing the end of the series. The essence of Sonny Boy lies in the feels, the vibe and the emotional and psychological impact it has on the watcher. You can't help but put yourself in the characters' shoes and witness the world as they see it. One of the best bitter sweet endings of all time for me, leaves you feeling empty and riddled with questions that you can answer how you see fit. 9/10 - Would recommend if you're ... Oct 9, 2024

Being spoiler free here to my best efforts, but as a gentle warning, a lot of readers might find this story; or rather the character(s) somewhat problematic. Both the leads have complex personalities but as the story progresses, it's unravelled what drives their weird behaviours.
The story also sheds light on societal outlook towards people with speech disorders (in this case, a stutter) and how it sometimes adversely affects their social relationships, in our main lead's case, leads to Bullying. Till now I have no complaints over how this sensitive topic was handled by the author. In fact personally speaking, it's been quite educational. Thus the ... May 9, 2024

Timeless & ahead of it's time. It's been more than 30 years since this came out (1992), and no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't force myself to like the 2012 version over this timeless piece of work. You know the shows that don't let the animation alter your thoughts on the plot, characters, acting, and an overall vibe. Ai no Kusabi is exactly that.
Finding solace the non-conventional way, with two men from extreme opposite ends of the society and the journey to feel accepted and sacrifices made to make that happen. It encounters multiple societal issues that we are STILL facing ... Mar 27, 2024
This is peak non sexual vanilla romance where boundaries are respected and consent is taken seriously. We're almost down to the last episode but I can't wait anymore to put out a review. BL generally has a tainted reputation when it comes to the type of content being put out by majority of the anime or manga we get to choose from. It's shows like these that restore my faith in BL having the potential to be judged as a mainstream one (minus the animation budget) like any other romance story (because romance is romance, irrespective of any gender or sexual biases and stereotypes)

I stumbled upon this randomly and got lucky because....hear me out, this is such a masterpiece considering this genre's evident flaws with recurring portrayal of non consentual themes. This is ROMANCE. You will forget this is BL for a moment and fall in love with the two MCs
For 2007, the makers really got into this. Amazing story by Nitta Youka, and ED track from Morikawa Toshiyuki just hit the mark. I just hope this gets more attention and more people discover this hidden gem of a period BL thriller. PS: This will leave an emotional imprint on you for a long time so stay strong! Nov 27, 2023
Considering BL as a Genre which is MAJORLY just full of Cliche, Cringey and non-consensual harassments, this show was a bliss. An amazing show that deals maturely and delicately with the gay characteristics of seemingly Masculine men, and how that leads to a lot of miscommunications and fabricated feelings at display.
I also liked the way how the characters' emotions were as raw as they can get. The Music aspect of this show is a cherry on top with some amazing tracks, especially Shougo Yano, Mafuyu's VA, did an amazing job. The pain in that voice could be felt, more so in his 'Fuyu no ... |
