If you enjoy dark/psychological I'd suggest giving Madoka Magica a try - it starts off looking pretty silly but later explores many mature, and at times tragic, themes. For a more shounen/action series, I'd suggest Psycho Pass, Parasyte, or Death Note. If you want a mature series that takes comparatively more brainpower to understand, then I'd recommend Monster.

Violet Evergarden, in my opinion, was a sad but emotionally wholesome show. You follow Violet as she first starts 'broken,' understanding nothing except how to fight as a soldier, to being able to smile, laugh, and cry as she progressively learns more about emotions that she never felt before. It's my favorite series and I'd recommend it to anyone if they're interested.

Also if you're into moe: Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon. Kanna is a moeblob Lol

yas i gotchu ;) you can try monster. it's really long though, but i personally think it's one of the best psychological ones out there
ooh and there's also madoka magica. this one is reallyyy psychological. from afar it looks like a typical cutesy show, but trust me, it's veryy dark.

I've been watching Cells at Work occasionally, and reading the Violet Evergarden light novel!
Unfortunately that's about all the time I can spare for anime and manga with school/etc. going on ^^;
