This is a very opinionated review. I found this anime had great potential but by midway through i realised that no matter how kickass the main heroine is, it wont take away how frustratingly simple and annoying the male MC is.
This is what made me rate this so low. i coudnt stand how much potential this show had at the beginning to how much it lacked towards the end.
Shana the main MC is amazing. her character development was well thought out and all her surrounding characters really complimented her. I especially liked her guardian Flame of Heaven and the other Flame blaze. they are both
...
so knowledgeable yet so out of touch with a teenage girls feelings. It was really that element of sweetness that carried the show through for me.
Its the approach to the 'romance' in this show that really disappointed me. typical romantic triangle forms where both girls; who are great in their own way, confess or obviously show their affections to the clueless male MC who does nothing but run around in all his oblivious glory and does nothing to really deserve their unwavering feelings.
I think thats what really bothered me. Yugi didnt deserve their feelings. he was unfortunately a weak male MC. he had moments where he was brightly but overall he was just so bland that i couldnt stand how Shana was falling for him. Although i did appreciate what he stood for as a supporting character. He allowed for Shana to explore her feelings that was unknown to her until she met Yugi.
but overall i truly enjoyed watching Shana become her own person. ill give the next season a shot.
