Gotoubun is not your average harem.
~
Meet Uesugi Fuutarou. He is a straight-A high school student, who doesn’t have that many friends. His life is pretty average until he bumps into Ms. Itsuki Nakano. Long story short, they get into a feud, and then he realizes that he blew his opportunity of becoming a tutor. He tries to reconcile with her, but she won’t budge. Although, thankfully, Fuutarou ran into her sisters, and they eventually allowed him to be their tutor. Once the session is over, Fuutarou bumps into Itsuki sitting inside of a taxi. His younger sister invites her over to their house for dinner,
...
which Itsuki accepts. Fuutarou continued to tutor the girls.
~
The girls in this show are amazing.
They all have major character development (although, one doesn’t really have that much development, I won’t spoil though).
They all have this beautiful connection, that will make you feel for them. It feels as if they are real sisters.
Sure, they may have their arguments, but at the end of the day, they love each other. I personally can relate, since I too have a lot of siblings.
~
This is a wholesome harem, which again, I personally love. Gotoubun isn’t constantly shoving “pictures” down your throats. Instead, they are more focused on the plot, and characters.
~
Nisekoi fans will love this series, since it also has a mystery childhood friend.
One of the quints and Fuutarou were very close when they were younger.
Although Fuutarou does not know which one, and therefore does not disclose it to any of them.
As for the sisters, they know about him, but they do not know that it is Fuutarou because of him having a bad boy look and personality when he was younger.
~
Overall, this is a very good harem/romance series that I definitely recommend checking out of you are a fan of the genre.
(also the crossover between Itsuki and Chizuru is amazing)

Season one was magnificent.
Season two was more or less, okay.
~
Chuunibyo demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren is a continuation to the original series, Love Chuunibyo and Other Delusions. In the sequel to Chuunibyo, the timing felt off, there was no plot structure, and there was a lot of melodrama.
~
The characters degraded.
Rikka became (as much as I hate to say this) a bit annoying. If Yuuta was talking to someone else, particularly another girl, she would cry or whine about it. She became possessive and emotionally manipulative. She literally broke Yuuta’s computer on purpose in an OVA because it had pictures of a girl he used
...
to like. Although, thankfully Shichimiya and Yuuta’s younger sister helped them get back together, and Rikka apologized.
-
Since I brought up Shichimiya, I will now talk about her.
Shichimiya is the new character introduced. Her and Yuuta used to be Chuunibyo buddies back in middle school. She is definitely my favorite character in Chuunibyo demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren. She is a happy/energetic girl, who has a kind heart. She knows a lot about life (shown in the later episodes and OVAs). She is willing to help anyone out, and does a lot for Yuuta, Rikka, and the rest of her friends. There is an amazing character analysis on her called “Satone’s Choice”. Despite her being a good character, the show did throw in a lot of unnecessary melodrama with her.
-
Nibutani was fairly decent. Her relationship with Dekomori was cute. She just was not as likable as she used to be. Same with Dekomori.
-
Kumin, Isshiki, and Yuuta remained the same.
~
As I mentioned before, there was no plot structure. It felt as if they were throwing random scenarios at the audience, similar to a story on Wattpad (yes, I used to read fan fiction xD).
The only character who had anything to overcome was Satone Shichimiya.
They attempted to give Rikka something similar to that. Her “problem” was that she feels as if she is losing her powers due to her love for Yuuta. Although, they never show her journey to overcome her problem. They don’t even explore it, apart from the one scene where she tells Shichimiya her problem. She never grows, nor develops. Therefore, the audience cannot feel for her.
~
Overall, would I recommend this to romance fans? No.
Although, if you are a huge fan of Love, Chuunibyo, and Other Delusions, you might enjoy this.

I love this anime so much. I recommend this to fans of comedy/slice of life shows. :)
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun follows a young girl named Chiyo Sakura who has a crush on Umetarou Nozaki. She gets up the courage to confess her love for him. Although, her plan backfires once he hands her his autograph instead of a response. Turns out, Nozaki is the author of the famous manga Monthly Girls’. The two later become good friends, and the story follow the rest of the crazy scenarios that they and their friends get up to.
...
Part of what makes the series so remarkable is the characters.
...
Chiyo: Chiyo is the main protagonist of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun. She has a large imagination, often confusing anime with reality. Chiyo is a talented artist, who enjoys helping Nozaki working on his manga (Monthly Girls’). Speaking of Monthly Girls’, Chiyo has gained the position of the artist. She is on good terms with everyone in her class, and is a member of the art club. Chiyo tries to confess to Nozaki on multiple occasions, but she ends up getting nervous and freaking out. Overall, Chiyo has a bubbly, cute, and kind personality.
Nozaki: Nozaki is the titular protagonist of Gekkan Shoujo, and the author behind Monthly Girls’. At first, Nozaki seems like a reserved person, since he is so focused on his work. Although, once you get to know him, he becomes more open and talkative. He views the world a blank canvas for him to paint on. Partially the reason why he sometimes acts as his own characters in public. One of Nozaki’s favorite people is his editor. He looks up to him and enjoys his company, despite his editor showing signs that he does not wish to forward a relationship with Nozaki. Nozaki deeply cares for all of his friends, and is truly a great person.
Mikoshiba: In public, Mikoshiba is known as the “perfect pretty boy”. He normally flirts with the girls at his school. After that, they always end up falling head over heals for him. Although, that is not who Mikoshiba truly is. He is an otaku in disguise, constantly playing dating simulators, watching anime, and collecting anime figurines. When he offered to model for the art club, and didn’t know how to pose, he took after his anime figures and began to pose as them. Mikoshiba is the type to get embarrassed easily. After every one of his “flirting sessions” he begins to cringe and regret everything he just said, which makes him a bit relatable, since I feel like we all did something embarrassing in the past that makes us cringe hard now.
Seo: Seo is probably the most interesting character in this series. Seo is popular amongst the majority of her classmates, though she tends to offend people without realizing it, and getting confused (and a bit sad) as to why to run away from her. She participates in choir. Her alter ego is Lorelei, a girl who has a beautiful voice. Hirotaka begins to fall in love with Lorelei, since her music helps him fall asleep. I don’t want to spoil much, but her and Hirotaka slowly fall in love with each other. Seo is smart and great at basketball. She has a passion and talent for singing.
Hirotaka: Hirotaka suffers from insomnia, a disease which prevents you from falling/or staying asleep. That is what caused him to fall in love with Seo’s beautiful voice, it could help him fall asleep. All in all, Hirotaka is a softie with a big heart.
...
The show branches out to other “ships” such as KashimaxHori and SeoxHirotaka. Of course, they keep the main OTP ChiyoxNozaki. :)
Gekkan Shoujo allows you to go through the point of view of other characters and go other places, adding variety to the show.
Through this series, you can actually learn a lot about manga and the process of making it.
Overall, I find this show to be wonderful. It always puts me in a good mood. Again, I recommend this to comedy and slice of life fans.
