Its a good show all in all. Visuals, and characters, & story were cool.
The ML feels sort of bland, though. I love that he's that cinderella story-prince charming, but he's just bland. He's just there. The story is nice, but it could've been better, but maybe its not intended to be an adventure which is alright. Its nice to watch when you're chilling and feel like not thinking or being mentally stimulated. It felt more like a slice of life historical type, which again, is also cool in its own way.
FL is super cool, resourceful, intelligent. The other characters are well thought out
...
as well. It just felt like it was missing a real plot.
The romance is sweet though. It will satisfy in that department.

Looking at the synopsis of the story and rating, as a sucker for romance, I knew I had to watch this.
While the story is nice, and the characters like Dongfang, the rivals, the bald monk (LOVED this guy, he was just too cool), were just extremely cool & equipped with cool powers, our fairy Xiao felt more like a nuisance and less like an addition. I wanted to like the show so I just skipped through a lot of her interactions with him, and I really wanted her out of his body at one point because she was more like an obstacle rather than
...
an addition. She felt annoying. All her purpose served was to stop us from seeing Dongfang actually be that legendary devil everyone fears. Not only that, but she kind of removed from his personality.
Now, its understandable that making a character like this fall in love would be difficult, but take Ye from Tong Ling Fei as an example. He did fall in love, we saw a softer side to him and he developed, but he retained his characteristics & what made him himself.
In addition to that, she had no substance. All she was is "no, please be good, don't kill anyone" and he just obeys. I would understand if that happened over a more suitable pace with some resistance and devilish behavior from him, but that wasn't the case. From the legendary demon to listening to the goody-two-shoes fairy with no skill...? Within seconds. Like, I get that she's supposed to be wholesome, which suits her, but she has nothing. No skills, no spells, she's just there as an ornament, to make a plot happen. At one point I was wondering why she wanted to have a body so badly, since she had nothing, I was actually rooting for her not to get her body back lol. I wish they added more depth and power to her, not make her completely weak and just a nuisance, but rather put up an actual fight from the heavens against this demon lord and walk her own path.
Other than that, the fight scenes were awesome in every way. I don't usually enjoy too much action, but the spells and battles in this show were just too good, I love how they conjure their spells, the sounds, the effects, they were just too cool that I looked forward to every battle.
Its a good show, but our character could be better. And when I do watch the next season it would be more for the monk, and hopefully see Dongfang actually be who he's described to be rather than just a regular character. I would like to see more of him & monk. And I hope she just gets out the way or at least adds something.
I usually give 10s for ratings, so here I'll give an 8 only because the battles and other characters are too good that they deserve more than a 7.
With these points addressed it could be a 10.

This is easily on my list of favorite animes to watch. After watching other romance animes there were only a few that really caught my eye in accordance to my all time forever favorites! This is one of those shows. As I first loaded it up, I was sooo disappointed with the animation, as it felt bad, but later I realized how cool it was and just loved the art & animation style as well, it gave it its own path.
Not only did it have the romance we want to see, with a great conclusion, it also balanced itself out by guiding us
...
through an adventure, some drama, friendships, supernatural events, and all the cool stuff. The story is extremely strong and rich.
When it comes to character development this show exceeds expectations, as we get to meet, feel, and develop with most of the cast, including the side ones that just appear in the emperors court rulings.
The romance started and developed fluidly. The show concluded at a wonderful pace, I really liked the fact that there was a visual conclusion and they gave us "that" ending! As I was watching the show, I was like "I better see it happen, I hope they include it!" and they did, which is nice and satisfying.
Its also nice that they had 2 seasons, and even though the episodes are shorter than usual, a lot happens, and surprisingly it doesn't feel skimmed through. You get all the details, events, and notes needed in one episode. They don't feel short at all.
Very engaging, stirs up all kinds of emotion and allows us to see justice happen. I'm new to Chinese anime, and honestly I love the way they know how to create good drama. However, I have realized that sometimes they drag it way too far, but here its balanced, the drama adds to the show rather than take away from it.
This and Tong Ling Fei - 10/10

I would always see this show's original show in my top recommendations, and always skipped over it. The story never appealed to me... Or so I thought. After watching 70% of the romantic anime out there, I decided to give this a shot. This show is definitely on my list of favorites, I keep wondering why I always skipped over it. The dynamics between our two MCs, the suspense the creators were able to create to keep us on our toes, the slow-burning and developing romance between our MCs, the mild drama. Everything about it was just so perfect and wholesome, including the complimentary music
...
to add depth/emotion to some scenes. Character depth was incredible, not only for MCs but for everyone in the show. Everyone was dynamic and we were introduced to everyone fairly well; nobody bland in this show.
Very well executed and thought out from visuals, characters, to audio, voices, and music. If you want to experience comedy, drama, romance, adventure, suspense, sweetness and excitement I highly recommend this show. Can't wait for the next season - they better make one! SO WHOLESOME.

I really liked and enjoyed the anime and the fact that it was a reverse harem. The story was really interesting, all the characters had great depth and personality to them, so overall it was amazing. The only thing disappointing in it was the romantic aspect of things. I wish I got to see more of the king and her's love throughout the series. At least, in season 2.
I'm tired of watching unfulfilling romances. It's great to see that she was such a warrior, in her own way. However, even Yona of the Dawn was able to be more in tune with her feminine
...
side, when it came to love and stuff. What I didn't like was the fact that she had to spend time mourning & questioning her feelings for the manipulative selfish psychopath that tried to violate her, who was definitely a good character to watch, but cmon. You have someone like Ryuuki and then someone like Sakujun, do you really forget about Ryuuki and contemplate giving in to Sakujun? That aside, I did enjoy watching this part and I'm glad she eventually came to her senses. Overall, this did add to the good story, regardless.
I would've liked to see more reciprocal romantic encounters between her and the king. And of course I had to look up the ending, due to the fact that I sneaked into season 2 to find out they don't even get married at the end. It did hint it, and I know they will, it just would've been more romantically satisfying if we got to see it. Take Kamisama Hajimemashita's endings and ova's for example. They were satisfying.
Regardless of all that, the show was quite wholesome, all the characters were super lovable and fun to watch. So I'd give this a 7.5-8 JUST cause I wanted to see them be a couple or at least get married in the show.

So... Where do I start?
For a "fashion" type of show, it was GREAT 10/10. I went to fashion school myself, so it made me feel nostalgic. The characters were really fitting, so were the graphics, and everything.
When I first watched this show, I was almost positive it was going to be one of my favorites! George was quite the charmer, at first. And I was happy to see Yukari stand up on her own in situations.
This is where I decided I would not continue the show: Well... I kinda looked up some spoilers for the ending, because by episode 7 I was
...
wondering if she and George were going to be a couple, etc. Given that the genre was romance, I was expecting a nice dose of it. Unfortunately the spoilers told me she was ending up with the guy from school (which wouldnt be wrong, but it felt kinda like watching an isekai where the mc falls in love with someone in a different realm, then at the end she wakes up and marries the guy at school - and no, his soul is not the other world guy's soul - ).
I personally would've liked it better if she had ended up with George and became some glam "it" / fashion couple or something of that sort, in Paris.
The whole series, I felt like George + Yukari was shoved in our faces, then suddenly it was like nope.
I do get why the show is the way it is though. I'm disappointed in the romantic aspect of it. I don't plan on watching the last 3 episodes cause I just don't want the ending that way.
Yukari's personality also feels a little toned down from what it could've been.
Personality types I would've liked her to have:
Nanami - Kamisama Kiss
Aileen - I'm the Villainess, So I'm Taming the Final Boss
Yona - Yona of the Dawn
Raeliana - The Reason Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke's Mansion
...etc. I do understand though, its totally fine that she was the way she was. Did give me Bella Swan from Twilight though.
Like I said, as a show, its great, fun, fashionable, and a nice story. It was just the romantic aspect of it, for me. Its good for those who don't mind what I just stated.
Had she ended up with George in a nice way I would've given it a 10, despite her personality feeling a little toned down from what it could've been.

This definitely sits next to HameFura, but I personally enjoyed this more because it really satisfies the romance, comedy, and adventure aspect. Covered all angles. It also kept me on my toes towards the end, without teasing for too long (which some shows have too much of - it just becomes annoying; this one was just right). I loved all characters including the fact that they had unique personalities + qualities, and I loved how I HATED the characters I was meant to dislike ... lol! For 12 episodes, the anime really covered all that it could, and all aspects it could. It was so
...
interesting, definitely worth a binge!
The main character is a true power queen, still showing femininity and vulnerability in situations that call for it, which is also a really good thing to me. Also very persevering and strong willed. And the demon king... Well, I just LOVED how he's portrayed. No extremes, not a fool, chivalrous, protective, romantically in tune over time... HOT! And just very complimentary to Aileen. They both embody different versions of Yin and Yang nicely, rather than one extreme to the other.
Again, I love this kind of romance theme. I loved HameFura just as much, each had their own charm. However, this show wins for me due to the fact that I got to experience true romance, and actually see the happy ending happen (in regards to romance). I like that I got to experience the characters victory and love. Literally, no disappointments. I loved the anime style, visuals, and vibrant colors. I could rewatch this.
This definitely goes at the top of my list of romantic favorites!
