To answer the question posed in the other review, this is a pair of shorts intended to advertise the Gundam SEED Astray manga. One episode follows the "Red Frame" Astray, the other follows the "Blue Frame" Astray. Both episodes demonstrate the personalities of their casts while having minimal plot, just enough to intrigue the viewer into reading the manga. Personally, I was more interested by the "Blue Frame" cast, though I have no interest in moving on to the manga; I watched this merely for completionism's sake.
As a SEED spin-off, MSV Astray's greatest strength is the fact that it isn't a shallow rehash of a

Universal Century Gundam show. The most interesting aspect of this OVA, in my opinion, is seeing material from SEED's Cosmic Era timeline animated in a style that closer resembles that of late 90s Gundam animation, particularly Gundam X and Turn A Gundam. Fans of the Astray manga might like to see brief moments of characters and mecha they know animated, but aside from that there's not much here that will interest a casual watcher unless said casual watcher wants to be convinced to read the Astray manga. And while it is a low bar to clear, MSV Astray is at least better than SEED Destiny.
