Fair warning, this is my first review, and I’m just using it to vent.
First of all, the manga of Horimiya is one of my top three favorites of all time, so I really really enjoy it, and I have been waiting for the anime for years, like everyone else, so there was a lot of hype, and while the anime is good, it’s lacking in one particular area. They cut all the jokes and all the character building. Everything feels really really rushed.
I don’t know wether to make it more mainstream or what, but they cut almost every joke or funny moment, so
...
now it’s a rather serious relationship drama. The manga did have a lot of drama but there was also a lot of funny jokes that made me laugh out loud that tied everything together, and it seems like they skipped all of those. Only a few made it over, and they are tame not very funny ones. I know it’s a random reason not to like the anime as much, but that’s what really made me love the manga, so even though Horimiya is one of my top favorites of all time. Sadly, the anime is not. So, if you liked the humor aspects of Horimiya as I did, then I don’t know how you’ll feel about the adaption. I still love it, don’t get me wrong, but it doesn’t feel as good.
(I would suggest reading the manga instead, you won’t regret it, the anime doesn’t do it enough justice)
