What a turnaround this second season is from the first. The quality of the show improved significantly in almost every way. Nearly every episode felt relevant to the plot and advanced the narrative. The framing of each scene is especially good, got them feels going regularly. This is most apparent during battle scenes. The whole thing feels much more solid instead of the cobbled together mess season 1 seemed to be.
The gourmet tag is false once more, this season has even less to do with food than the first one. The entirety of its relation to food
...
can be summed up in the idea, occasionally expressed during the show, that people can understand one another by sharing a meal together. It was much better presented as a concept this season but I still feel it's quite misleading if you are comparing it to something like Dungeon Cooking or Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill, shows that deserve to be in the gourmet category.
That being said, I'm happy I stuck it out and decided to give season two a chance!

This show is missing the CGDCT tag, basically all it is. I enjoy my fair share of CGDCT but that aspect isn't even well done. The gourmet tag is false, I'd say. For being a show that is supposedly about a group of people cooking, eating and enjoying food, very little time is spent actually exploring the culinary side of things. It amounts to, in every episode with nearly no exception, "someone's stomach growls, food is eaten (may or may not have needed to acquire some random ingredient) it's delicious, the end." That basic plotline is heavily watered down with
...
a lot of slice of life fluff, which again, I enjoy my fair share of, and again, isn't well done. So despite supposedly being the centerpiece of the plot, the food element feels extremely tacked on. Episode 13 was great. Wish the whole show could have been more like that. Maybe things will pick up in season 2. I'll give it an extra pity point because I don't recall a single mention, either directly or indirectly of anyone's breast size, which is damn rare, especially given the type of show it is.

Flat-chest humor doesn't really bother me any more than any other crude humor. I'd say about 50% of the attempted humor in this show revolves around breast size. It's not even an ecchi show. Seems excessive. Only 2 flavors. Baddy comments on flat chest and is punished or insecurity over breast size inspires protagonist to behave abhorrently. This summarizes much of the show.
I enjoyed the many interspersed classic anime references throughout. Unfortunate that it began to feel like a crutch to hobble through. Generally the only enjoyment I received from each episode. They chose great shows
...
to reference and they did the references well, mostly.
The setting was actually incredibly interesting. A shame maybe a cumulative 10 minutes was spent exploring it in the entire 12 episodes. Most of which occured in the final episode, which was largely an exposition-fest. I know nothing of the source material. I'd be more interested in that than a 2nd season of this anime. I've read this was a poor adaption and there is a great deal of source material.
I love most isekai shows implicitly. This one was so cringe it stuck out. Especially due to the contrast when actually enjoying the show.
Maybe I'll try the source material sometime.

This anime certainly is a strange one for me. After about six episodes I decided to binge it because I found it boring but my completionist spirit wouldn't allow me to drop it. After 12, I realized it was a full series and decided to soldier on. At this point I was hovering around a 5 or 6/10. The story telling seemed bland and uninspired, the action scenes seemed well done but were few and far between. The constant exposition and narration I found very annoying and detracting from what became a very enjoyable post-apocalyptic tale. By episode 20
...
I was considering bumping up to 7 because everything felt like it was hitting in the sweet spot at that point. I playfully mused that I would bump it to an 8 if it knocked the ending out of the park and lo and behold, it totally did. Don't often see that: A relatively disappointing and mediocre anime turning the tables in the last arc. Disclaimer, I feel personally connected to the overall message of the show (SPOILER): losing faith in humanity yet still being in awe of life. And this was extremely well presented in the finale of the show. The first half of the series only vaguely represents this and honestly seems pretty mundane and poorly executed (though there are exceptions, the humor hits pretty good at times, the animation is pretty good, and the action scenes are often great, though not enough to make the show interesting until the second half.) This show really brought its A game in the final stretch, enough that I felt compelled to write a review of it. If anime is your life support in a disappointing reality brought on by human shortcomings as it is for me, I recommend this show. The dreary first half keeps me from rating this show higher than an 8 but dang it finished like it had a purpose, in a way that few shows do.

Fuck I love this anime. I can't even begin to think how much I've rewatched it with various friends. It's just got such a unique feel to, the music is great (that OP gets me EVERY TIME), I really just love the whole story, and my only complaint is that it is too short without a fulfilling ending (though an awesome one, regardless). The characters are fucking unique (I love the president xD) the... you know what.... see it for your damn self, watch this shit or Krauser-san will come from Hell and rape and murder your family while he forces you

to watch. xD

I'm from an older anime watching generation and I'm still trying to get over my narcissism about newer anime. I'll tell you, the past few seasons of anime have really impressed me. We got Demon Hunter, Dr. Stone, Slime Reincarnation, and more. Of course it's no substitute for the passion put into drawing something like Akira, or Fist of the North Star, but I am shocked at how much I've been enjoying the newer animes. This is an idealistic anime. From what has been animated thus far (I have not read any source material) This show is essentially the Disney
...
of isekai anime. I've read some of the negative reviews about this show and it's pretty bunk stuff. If you don't like isekai anime to begin with don't bother with this show. OP protaganist, questionable world building ect. This is a feel good anime at the end of the day. It's a decadent chocolate cake right after a fast. And it does what it intends VERY WELL. Will it be the best show ever? Nah. But damn is it a breath of fresh air, and all the haters can be doomed to post Jo Jo season 1 reruns for all time.

Hot damn, what a good anime. Just finished my second run through it after about a year and feel like a review is necessary. Firstly, I'm going to briefly mention what sets it apart from other anime of the same genre.
1: It doesn't take place in a learning institution of any kind.
2: All the characters are working adults.
3: Relationships are established in the first episode.
4: Basically no drama or tension whatsoever.
I'm just going to stop there, they've basically committed every sin in the rom-com formula book by violating those 4 principles. It's a breath of fresh air is
...
the point I'm trying to make. Shouldn't be such a rare thing but it is and damn if I don't appreciate the **** out of it.
This anime is adorable. About 90% of the episodes ended with me grinning from ear-to-ear with my heart full of warm fuzzies. This adorableness is largely due to the fact that this anime doesn't waste screen time on bogus drama and tragedy. Don't get me wrong. I like my bogus drama and tragedy. But this anime says NO to it, Blue Submarine #6 style, and it's a wonderful, beautiful thing. The focus of almost every episode is essentially to develop teh pre-established relationships. Since there is no nonsense backstories or dramas to deal with, this anime is able to focus on comedy. Maybe 2% of the entire anime is like backflash or some kind of explanation for something which is fucking awesome. Which brings me to my next point of why this is the bees-knees.
The characters... They're grown ass adults and there is very little traditional "character development" to be had. Screen time is dedicated mainly to involving these personas in interesting and fun situations, specifically geared to give you the giggles and the warm fuzzies.
You know, I'm just going to stop this review here. My only complaint about one of the best shows I've seen in awhile is that it was too short and had no conclusion or defining story arc, which honestly might be a good thing. Definitely got my heart yearning, YEARNING FOR MORE, and I'll be reading the manga for sure. -1 point for being too short.

So, I randomly watched the anime and enjoyed it so much I needed more... I'll say something similar to what I said about the anime. This isn't for everyone. You won't find much suspense or drama here, in the way that the genre is normally known for. That being said, this is a wonderful story and as a hopeless romantic, I am just fucking thrilled. I've never seen a story like this anywhere in this medium. Romance storys generally are dangled in front of the viewer with the cathartic coupling occurring at the very end or even not at
...
all. This happens in this wonderful story in the first few chapters and it continues to explore the actual interesting world of what happens after two people decide to be partners. It's amazing how rare this is in this medium and frustrates me to no end. That being said, I'll say I'm extremely biased to this type of story. My recommendation to you, reader, is that you give it a few chapters. If you don't totally fall in love with it, move on, this isn't for you. I know This will always be one of my favorites.

I was so disappointed in this sequel to the first couple arcs I felt compelled to write a review. It would have gotten a few more points if it wasn't totally overshadowed by it's predecessor. So let's go make a list of reasons why this is a total disappointment.
Reason 1: Concept. For some reason, they went in a totally different direction of the established universe and decided to make it some kind of manly Digimon-type anime. Not as cool as it sounds. Remember those cool martial arts fights with Ripple energy? Yeah, that's essentially gone.
Reason 2: The
...
characters. No depth at all. And you might be thinking, "but it's one of those manly type animes, they don't have to be deep." Watch some Fist of the North Star. Hell, watch the prequel to this piece of crap again. There might of been two or three scenes in an entire 24 episodes that gave me some kind of investment or feeling towards the characters. Additionally, Joseph Joestar. While I thought he wasn't as cool as Jonathan, he was pretty damn cool and actually had a personality. Not to mention he had wile and guile in spades enough so to defeat nearly omniscient beings that had lived for over a millennia. He makes a return as a grandpappy in this season and apparently old age has addled his brains because he's more often that not a liability the whole show. The only thing I ever had to look forward to from Joseph was his comic relief shticks of screaming "OH NO," "OH SHIT," and "OH MY GOD," in English which is probably the most enjoyable part of this show.
Reason 3: Length. They drag this shit out so far. Let's compare. Prequel, they essentially go through two story arcs and 2 generations of Joestars in the same number of episodes. This show, they got to Egypt. IT'S HALF A FUCKING STORY ARC. I was so hopeful. I enjoyed the prequel so much that I struggled to get through this. I'm like, "it's okay, this happens. I'll just get through this and next season will be better, I'm sure of it." Imagine my growing sense of dread as I come to realize that the next season is more of this. But you know what, I'm going to watch it anyway because I liked the first installment so much. I'm really going to try and see where this goes.
I could keep going but those are my main complaints without going off on tangents about every little thing. Plus my disappointment has drained me so I'm going to get ready to steel myself and begin the next half of this travesty. Good luck to us all.

Ore Monogatari is the ultimate feel good romance anime. It's a break from the standard love triangle/trapezoids, unrequited loves, and shows that either end when the protagonists finally pair up or even end vaguely. You're not going to see the level of drama common for the genre here. There are no big plot twists (though plenty of pleasant surprises). And this is exactly what I think is this story's greatest appeal: subtlety. Many of the episodes could be seen as downright mundane. For example, one episode they go to the zoo. Exciting, right?
I'll say it clearly, this
...
show isn't for everyone. If you need drama, excitement, and suspense, you'll find it lacking here.
Personally I found this to be something really special, and more often than not I was grinning like a fool from ear-to-ear or laughing out loud. I just finished watching it a second time a month or so after my first viewing, in English this time (not typical for me but I wanted to recommend it to some friends that don't like subtitles so I checked it out and was VERY pleasantly surprised). The interaction between Rinko and Takeo is downright sickeningly sweet most of the time. It's like fanservice for hopeless romantics.
But what really brings this show together for me is the characters themselves. I'm not going to go into too much detail in what makes the individual characters unique, wouldn't do it justice if I tried. What I will say is that the show itself is much like a relationship with a person. It's at first taken at face value and perhaps you form opinions or ideas about the characters that are larger than life. Then you spend more time with those characters, time in which nothing seemingly significant occurs. But you start to notice things about them. Like the way Rinko is sensitive to hot food. Or how Takeo actually scares really easy in theme park horror rides. Each piece is a tiny part of what makes that character who they are. And the characters themselves sometimes observe these nuances about one another and appreciate those aspects of them. That's love right there. Taking a seemingly arbitrary, mundane aspect of a person and thinking it's cute or endearing simply because it's part of who they are and for no other deeper reason. You start to see they do get jealous, even though they have a fairy-tale-like relationship. They get nervous and misunderstand things and even sometimes think that maybe they aren't right for one another. Maybe someone else that has more in common with the person I love can make them happier than I, who seems totally mismatched, can. You start to discover that there is always something else to learn about the people in your life, no matter how long you've known them. One of my favorite lines Takeo says regarding his best friend of over 10 years, "I know his birthday is on September 13th. I even know what kind of underwear he wears. But there is so much I still don't know about him." You come to find that this larger than life guy who seems so strong is just a normal guy at heart, despite all his amazing qualities.
Sure there is some introspective discourse about love and friendship and all that. But that isn't what really makes this show special. It's a story that's more shown than told, through the mundane day to day relationship of a boy and a girl. Through the friendship of two polar opposites. It's the subtlety of it.
Now to some people, a dude is going to save a girl from a groper in the first episode and then pretty much nothing else is going to happen after that. And they're not wrong to see it that way. If you don't totally fall in love with this show in the first few episodes, I can pretty much guarantee it's not going to be one of your favorites. However, I definitely like it enough to recommend anyone who's a sucker for romance give it at least a few episodes. I just wish there was more of it.
