My only exposure to Satoshi Kon's work has been through his movies, going into this show I did not know what to expect. My only premonition was that whatever the ride it may be, it would be a wild one at that. Some of the best episodes in this show had little to do to advance the story/seemed to parody the current climate in the show.

Onto a quick summary: deranged kid goes ham on the town whackin people left and right (if only it were that simple). Featuring what I can only describe as "The Satoshi Flair" (cringe, I know) this show makes a whole ... lot out of "leftovers", the context for this being that Kon had a ton of great unique and unused ideas and decided to funnel them into this masterpiece.

Categorical explanations

Story: Keeps you thinking and captivated throughout, not many slow episodes and even the recap episode was interesting.
Art: Obviously there is a noticeable difference between animation of shows and movies but overall the art looks great and when it hits, it hits. It is very rewarding to pay attention to little details.
Sound: I don't know jack about sound, the OP is nice but not quite a banger.
Character: This is where the show is at its strongest, so many characters with all unique backstories. Given with such a wide main cast, some characters have less attention than others but everyone gets their limelight. Some of the happenings in this show are a bit uncomfortable to watch and are pretty mature so just be wary of that. My favorite characters were lil' slugger and the old-fart detective, that detective seemed like a chill guy to have a beer with.
Enjoyment: Throughout I enjoyed it and the best moments had to go to screen time with lil' slugger. There is plenty of it, so if you want to see people getting clapped - this is it.

The overall experience of this show was a finely knit package of psychological thriller that gives you just enough to answer your questions while leaving space for interpretation.

I am pretty sure that natsuki may be autistic, not that it is a bad thing at all - just an observation I made while watching this.
Her mannerisms and obsessions with lifting up the tails of non consenting animals were red flags.
Story was lack luster and felt loosely connected to me. My main gripe is the fact that potential plot points were left ambiguous for what I can guess were either budget or writers block. I enjoy a good open ended question but I feel that these shouldn't be left open for backstories/current relationships of main characters.
Good questions to ask are such as "why does ... x character have a shaky relationship with past y partner", and so on.
Art and animation was stellar, I really enjoyed what seemed to be the night on the galactic railroad reference. Great choices of color and character design.
The one big band track was midi cringe, no thanks - overall the rest of the soundtrack had some great orchestral excerpts. Sound to me is good as long as it doesn't sound like a tin can.
Characters were average, the rocket boy was probably my favorite out of the human cast. Cat from alice in wonderland or fish tank dude was probably my favorite in the alien cast. Dog was a little too friendly to the child for me to like him.
This is probably a movie aimed towards kids, really the only thing that kept me watching it was the fact that I absolutely love wasabi.
I think the creators may be pervs, some of the treating of the cast members were super awkward and uncomfortable to watch.
Watch it if you are a furry I guess, there's a whole dog planet with your name on it.
