This is a review for the whole of Haikyuu, up until To the Top (season 4) which I've yet to see.
I do have a positive bias, but I will do my best to remain objective.
Haikyuu has a bit of a bland plot, as most sports anime tend to have, however the characters, their interactions, and their dynamics more than make up for it.
The soundtrack is amazing, mixing the squeaky shoes, the thuds of the ball and the big bounding music, and the absence of music, very well to convey the emotions of the scene.
The animation is overall a bit generic, but it is quite recognizable
