Both revolve around children experiencing a dramatic event forcing them to early maturity. However, Ryvius has far better direction and storyline.

In Glass no Kantai Gonzo tried to create a world of similar ambiance and intrigue as in Last Exile. Both anime feature fantastic and unworldly backgrounds and express the fate of empires in the actions of individuals. However, Last Exile is much better at it :)

Lead roles are quite similar: both are given a rather limited superpower, and decide to create a better world with it. Cat and mouse mindgames ensue with the rest of the world, where both sides use underhanded tactics to gain victory.

For those of you who like the kind of laid-back light hearted stories and settings, Kokoro Library is an absolute must. Both anime proceed slowly, but nevertheless shne brilliantly when making their point.
