This show is by the same author who did Cautious Hero and I was pretty excited, because despite the show had its flaws it had also points I really liked, including the humour.
The production is not impressive and the humour has pretty lows but also very highs and I am enjoying the videogame-with-a-twist setting. I am loving the batshit crazy dark humor and tone shifts and with the way it is being setup I am expecting the ending to not fumble (as it arguably did in Cautious Hero).
With the later episodes we have been undoubtebly introduced to the main theme of the series which is

Ok so this may be recency bias but I have never been given such a mindfuck in a story. God, Isayama is such a sadistic genius, and I have never seen a character like Eren.
Can't say there were any major flaws that really bothered me, there are definitely some minor plotholes but to me it did not really matter. Breaking down the ending was such a satisfying experience, I cannot overstate it. Also there were some truly compelling characters, in particular I loved Erwin, Armin and Eren. I know there is some bad faith going on about the ending, but I would definitely encourage everyone to try ... |
