Another excellent work from Tetsuo Hara (Hokuto no Ken), this one is historical fiction about two eccentrics and their quest to... well, do awesome and manly things.
This show will put hair on your chest, make your muscles grow and impress women. And if not, you'll still have fun watching it. It's a well-written, stylish show with great art and a strong plot.
It's not a 'perfect masterpiece' but it's a great show nonetheless.
The OP theme was the best OP theme of 2013. If you like HnK you will like this show, as I did, because it is written in a style similar to HnK.

A massive budget product that manages to turn into a generic shonen battle series before the fourth episode. The art is the only saving grace here - everything else is substandard knowing the studios involved and how much money was spent to produce this show. The characters have limited depth and no dynamics. The dialogue and story mostly revolve around cliches and fillers, with the actual canon plot only playing out three times in the series (once at the beginning, once at the midpoint, and once at the end).

This series warrants a 10 for the sheer randomness that unfolds as it runs its course. The art isn't anything special, primarily low budget still shots, but the writing is top notch. You will ask yourself at least once per minute "what the f**k am I watching?". And then you'll watch the next episode. The end of the series is one of the most catastrophic and totally random that I've ever seen, in any form of media.

Heroman is a fun show. A lot of reviewers wrote it off, but the fact is that it's actually very well done and the plot twists are enough to keep the show interesting. If you're not averse to mecha or all ages series, check this one out, you might be surprised.

This a hidden gem made up entirely of short episodes. Although it carries the children's series label, it's actually very well written and appeals to all ages. A classic story about the warmth shared by Umasou and his family. What it lacks in artwork, it makes up for in character depth, story and enjoyment.

This is one of the funniest things I've ever seen - not just in anime, but in life. The similarly recommended Cromartie High is also very high on the list for many of the same reasons. If you want to laugh until your lungs collapse, this is probably high on your list - the gags are well-executed and there are an abundance of them.

A promising series with a great source manga that quickly degenerates into filler episodes and recaps. After a hundred episodes or so, it loses its kick, the drive that makes it interesting at the beginning is completely gone. No real staying power, which is why the series ended its run. Still fun to watch for a while though.

This is my current favorite manga. I'm quite surprised an anime isn't already planned, this has all the workings of a great show -
- Great plot and character development - An original storyline - Random twists to keep it interesting - Humor - Very well-drawn art - Fanservice, but not forced fanservice If you're not reading this... you should be Oct 17, 2013

General otome garbage. A terrible plot, ridiculous characters, a whole lot of generic dialogue, very mediocre art and design. B-movie fans will enjoy the unintentional humor and just how bad this show is - not one of the characters is appealing or is anything more than a stock bishounen caricature of a man. Probably the worst thing to happen this year sans the equally terrible Brothers Conflict.
