I have read this Manga mainly because of the historical background and am a bit disappointed in that aspect.
While we get to see a bit of the political situation related to Senju, an abandoned Child who might just be related to the Fujiwara clan, the main focus of this Manga is clearly the romance between Moroe and his servant Senju.
The Monks from the temple that Senju grew up in pursue him for his beauty while his fellow chigo resent him for it, Senju struggles throughout the whole Manga to retain his virginity...
....That is to say, while the storyline certainly had some potentially interesting
...
aspects, it was (in my opinion) overall lacking, as the Manga was too short to expand the political intrigue and solely focused on Moroe's quite intense love for Senju.
The story is concluded by a short rescue mission of the Monk who saved Senju, it might be the "climax" - it is anticlimactic; the climax is short and proceeds with almost no incident; it resolves itself too quickly and no suspence is build up.
Afterwards, the remaining issues pertaining Senju's linage are covered in a short conversation; it's quite disappointing.
We mainly get to know three characters, Senju, Moroe and Narihira.
While Narihira is pretty interesting and shows several facet's that I would expect from a noble, such as flowery language, and his behaviour towards Senju in their first meeting, etc., Moroe seems often unrefined and barely adds to the historical feel. He could have just as well been starring as a business man while behaving the same way and none would have complained.
Senjumaru is erratically mature and innocent. This might be expected of a young child brought up the way he was; he lacks knowledge in certain areas (such as sexual intercourse), but is educated in caligraphy and understands the consequences of most of his actions. Still, I wouldn't call his character impressive, and certainly not something I would recognize as a main character.
I might even go as far as to call him "uninteresting" or "boring"; he does not take action but mainly reacts the world around him--.
Overall-- I rated this Manga " fair"; it's not bad, but it leaves much to be desired-- it has pretty art and the story is, while not perfect, still enjoyable enough to give it a quick try.
If you like historical Manga, you might want to try it-- it's not a very deep story, but it was sweet in it's own way.
It contains some smut as well, but it was not the main theme, so you might be unsatisfied if that is your main concern about this Manga.

Well, this is a typical PWP Manga If you ask me - there are 5 chapter that always contain some kind of random conflict ( you have to wonder were it suddenly comes from.... (=.=) )
...and after the two main characters resolve it ("no matter what happens, I'll always love YOU the most!") there is a long, smutty s** scene. which about sums the whole thing up.
If you're searching for pretty art and stimulating H scenes, then this is the Manga for you.
Interested in a complex storyline with many twists and deph?
Not so much.

Well, this certainly was a cute Manga, and pretty uncomplicated.
A bit too uncomplicated...
Compared to all the other Manga I've ever read (yaoi or not) this was probably the one with the least drama in it - wich normally wouldn't bother me if there was something else that kept the story going.
But it is neither very funny nor deep, it's not annyoing but also not heartwrenching, To me this story could be described as fluffy, but a bit boring.
The story, which was the thing that bothered me the most, is about a couple - a workaholic but friendly and successful Elite(?) and a cute, easy going
...
cleaner who wants to become a chef.
Harutomo, the cleaner, appreciates the seasons very much and thanks to him so does Kazushi, the elite.
Kazushi has to go to America because of work and misses Harutomo, but shortly before he was going to return to Japan Harutomo gets an asignment in a hotel in America to work as a chef - yay.
Unfortunatly, this passage of the Manga was so undramatic (sorry, does that word even exist -.-') that it was almost anticlimatic... I thought that something finally happened, but it was covered in no time.
Kazushi's family adores Harutomo.
Harutomo has some problems with his sister, a distanced realytionship, but they planned to talk to her in the last few pages.
THE END.
Yeah, it was kinda cute, but --- maybe it's because it was so short, but it feels to me like a filler of some other Manga...
Of course it's annoying if the whole story consists of one dramatic turn after the other (Oh my god, my mother died, my dad drinks, my brother hates me......... woe is me ;))
But I guess both extremes aren't really my thing.
It's a nice, quick read and if you like cute, fluffy relationships, you should defenitly try this out.
Don't expect too much and just let the warm feelings take over ;))
It's enjoyable enough, I guess.

Storyline:
Well, basically, this Manga is about Kengo and his best Friend Hidetoshi.
Hidetoshi told Kengo that he's gay on Graduation Day, and even though Kango realized that he might actually be in love with him, he sticked at being friends.
After several years pass and seeing Hidetoshi in several abusive relationships, Kengo starts to date him.
I must say I quite enjoyed this Manga, because the story was, while of course being dramatized, it still had the kind of feeling like "ahh, this could actually happen in real life"
Kengos character was nice, he explained his confused feelings about his friend, seeing him getting beaten and realizing his own
...
protectiveness and love towards him.
Hidetoshi's character was a bit annoying sometimes, because he was very insecure and doubting.
But while that got a bit under my skin, his behaviour is pretty much how I can imagine a person in his position would be.
Other than those two, there were barely any other charcters, the story is focused mainly on them.
The troubles of homosexual people were also mentioned, but while it got clear that he had problems with his family because of it, it doesn't get overbearing.
It only contributes to the realistic feeling.
The art was alright, you might even call it nice...
Overall, it suited the story. (a overly cute drawing stile would look kinda out of place)
I tried not to make to many spoilers and I really recommend this Manga if you're looking for a cute, realistic and maybe a bit more mature love story that isn't too much about figuring out your feelings, but establishing and mantaining a relationship regardless if hetero/homosexual.
...It kinda makes you feel more mature , youself... ;) haha!
....come on, you know you wanna try it!

haaa.... since there were only negative reviews, I'll try to show you all the positive part of this manga.
I admit, it really IS a little confusing.
The first chapters suddenly throw you into the story, while the whole plot, involving (almost) every charcter, is partially shown to you.
The art too, isn't what i would call outstanding, it looks better in the Anime...
If you read all the currently available chapters and you stlii haven't understood it yet, i recommend to watch the anime.
That's what i have done (from the beginning) and i must say that the story has a lot of twists and is a little
...
complex, but very enjoyable.
Don't worry, the big lump of storyline that has been thrown at you in the first chapters will be cleared and explained soon.
The setting of the story is in Tokio, and the story really gives off an urban vibe.
In the End I really recommend this manga to people who like (more or less) innocent and gentle main characters that have to deal with not very suitable things...
I'd compare the situation of "Mikado" to the main characters of Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Deadmen Wonderland...
Please try it out!
It's really amazing~
(I#v been searching for other Manga like this...)

Well, this manga almost has the same plot as Yakitate!! Japan, seeing as they both have the same Author.
But there are lots of authors with multiple stories, while each has its very own charm.
Saijou no Meii though is only different in the characters name and looks, while even the personality of the main character stays almost the same.
The subject changes of course, too.
So instead of being a baker, the main chara is now a skilled pediatrician.
So i say, if you REALLY liked the other you might want to try this out, but for me, one NAIVE, SUPER-TALENTED-AT-WHAT-YOU'RE-DOING, NICE boy is enough.
I don't recommend this to
...
anyone who likes interesting stories with new ideas that make you shiver in exitement.
If you just want to read easy, not-very-complicated stories, you might like this, cause I'm not saying this is BAD (I know it sounded like it) but it's a little boring.
