Katekyo Hitman Reborn! is probably one of the funniest mangas I've ever read. When I first saw it, the drawings were rather rough and unflattering (maybe the artist, who is a girl, was trying to draw it "boy-style"?), but the storyline was wickedly funny. Seriously, who thinks up stories involving gun-toting infant hitmen?
As the storyline progresses, it seems more like a comedy than a super shonen-fighting kind of manga. Tsuna and his gang gets into all sorts of mischief that is solved in one or two chapters. That's the only reason why I gave its "Enjoyment" rating a 7. ... Things are funny but rather dull for about 60 chapters. Then things start getting REALLY interesting.
More characters are introduced. Story arcs are created. Enemies that try to thwart Tsuna and his buds appear, stronger and stronger with each arc. I honestly got swept away with all the friends, enemies, allies, and so on. There were so much you almost lost count -- but the characters, I think, are one of the best parts of the story.
There are so many to love or hate! The good guys: from Tsuna, the pathetic loser of a main character turned mafia leader of the Vongola, to Lambo, the hilariously annoying crybaby in a cow costume. The bad guys: from Xanxus, the surly and arrogant leader of the Vongola assassination squad, to Byakuran, the marshmallow-loving and easygoing guy who's power and influence is absurd.
And the storyline! Forget slapstick comedy. This morphs into a full-blown shonen epic. Forget Guns, swords, dynamite, or grenades. There's nothing this manga can't pull off ..... including magical rings and bazookas that can transport you ten years into the future!
If you're looking for comedy, good fighting scenes, incredibly diverse characters, that sweet fluffy stuff about friendship and bonds, and also romance (Tsuna has some girl problems), then you need to check out Katekyo Hitman Reborn! I honestly recommend it!
