Well, it's, I think, psychological story in the most. It tries to show you haw can desperate people behave and how much do they want revenge.
Main character is Enma Ai, Jigoku Shoujo. Bu she is not participating in story, other characters too (in majority of episodes). Ai has some lines which she always say and in the most of ceses, nothing more. Altought she's still very interesting charcter.
If you don't like anime where in every episode is another story, and till half of season nothing is connecting - it's not for you. But still, even with this sitiation short stories from episodes are really interesting,
...
well thought and you can watch them with pleasure. You can also understand some characters (people) who you will see later.
Art:
Design is nice, at least in my opinion. Enma Ai looks mysteriously and with other things they did good work too. Not masterpice, but very nice.
I can honestly tell that it's really good anime and watching it is not wasting of time (if you survive first seven or eight episodes - real plot starts after them).

I don't know manga, so comparing it to anime is, in my case, impossible.
So I'll talk straightly about anime. Art isn't amazing, but what counts in this case is story. Story is interesting, you will follow it with excitment. Characters in my opinion are fine, but only fine. Exept of our main villain. He's sadist, insane and obviously evil, but that's what am I looking for. He's playing with his enemies, has an aim, which you don't exactly know (ok, it wasn't clever, because his real aim... Ok, I won't complain because it would be spoiler).
It's not a horror even if's written it is,
...
but it's kind of dark.
Art is also fine - not anything you can adore, but we have to remember it's not the latest anime.
And one important thing for the and. If you don't like shounen-ai don't start watching it. There isn't anything... you know, but certainly it has this part.

Anime Kuroshitsuji was first anime I ever seen. So you can easily predict that I had to read manga. And I found it somewhere.
Anyway. Art is outstanding and while reading you really feel that they like their job. Drawings are very detailed and even thoug the plot (to which I'll move later) is not at highest level, simple looking at every single page is a great joy.
As I mentioned there is a "little" problem with the plot. At first, maybe thoughout first half, it seems quite realistic, if you don't count mistakes connected with time period (Cell phone? Really?). You quickly learn how to ignore
...
it.
Than, unfortunately, story goes in a very wrong direction. I don't want to spoil the fun of reading, so I'll just tell that you get a very strong feeling of reading a bad fanfiction. Art is still great, of course, but it seems to me that Yana Tobso is sometimes too excited about her own character, Sebastian, and she tries hard to show all his possibilities - ignoring realism and throwing characters into riddiculus situations not matching withe the atmosphere of manga. Also the author's knowlegde of the time period in which action takes place is something she should work on harder (she certainly tries as you can see progress clearly in further chapters. Stupid situation reamin stupid, but you won't see as many futuristic objects).
That's all for objective review, because the rest is strongly affected by my own taste.
The biggest adventage is for me idea of shinigami. Don't ask me why. I just love them. It's not a horror, but they are a great idea in form she presented them. Althoug it also goes with many plot holes, from wihich the biggest one is certainly demon's selective ability to recognise shinigami what results in one recognised immediately, and second one ignored through many chapters. Explanation that is given doesn't stand up.
I had a problem with enjoying charachters. At first author managed to keep banace in their behawior and appearence time, but now things get a little out of control. Main character, Ciel, is getting more childlish and delicate, what is propably a result of letting Sebastian do more thing for him to show his strenght and inteligence. Still they're extremely enjoyable. I'm not sure what to think of quality and complexity of characters, but reading about them can still give you a huge amount of fun. Also not all of them were spoiled - for example Undertaker (my favourite one), appearing more often recently, hasn't lost his ability to interest and his entrance and motive remain mystery.
All in all - I think I'd recommend it. It's not the greatest one but if you look for something ligh-horror manga with many handsome guys in it and art which makes you contemplate the drawing for many hours - that's the one. Just don't expect too much.

It's a very interesting serie for every fan of horrors. It's continuation of last story from anime "Ayakashi: Japanese Classic Horror" made because of number of fans of main character - Ksuriuri.
First thing which you see is art. At start it can be difficult to watch because, to be honest, it's weird. For sure someone was hay or drunk, that would be your first thought. But it's very importatnt part of it. Colours, shapes and everyting... It's scary even when you don't think about plot. Colour are light, but sometimes disturbing. Bacgroung tends to move, when characters are not, face are expressive. It's like in
...
traditional Japaneese paintings. It is impossible to describe by words.
Plot. In this anime are four or five short two- or three-episode stories, every one with diffrent characters, problem and place. The only one which you always see is Ksuriuri, someone whose aim is killing a kind of demons called "mononoke". To kill them he needs to know how they were created, how they look and what happened in the past - than he can do something more. He's more a viever than anything else and he doesn't really participate in fights and problems till end. He's trying to find answers and persuade people to admit what happened. Episodes mostly focus on those stories, psychology of characters and their motives. You dive deep into human psyche to find out what's in there.
It is a scary anime, so if you don't like stuff like this don't even start it. But it's a very, very good anime. Masterpice for me, fan of horrors. Oh, and if you don't like controversial (I hope I wrote it correctly?) topics you can omit first case. I can't tell what is it about, but at first it shocked me a bit and it can discourage you to watch the rest of them.
Sound.
I wasn't a fan of opening at start, but know I think taht it's really good (and even more insane that rest). I don't really care about music, so I won't tell much, expecially that I know nothing about this topic.
Character.
I've already spoken about Ksuriuri, so here I'll tell something about otehr characters. They seem to be real, they have feeling and you can really understand why they did something and how they did feel. This anime is basicly about them - mononoke is created by human feelings so that is the main subject.
So I can honestly tell that it's amazing, and worth of spending time watching it.
Sorry for mistakes, but English is not my first language. Please, forgive :) If you notice any, don't hestitate and write me about it.
