Girls Band Cry is honestly not an anime that I was expecting to like much less tear up over.
At first I considered it mediocre, an anime that mostly was in 3D but occasionally switched to 2D. If you can't tell, I'm not really a big fan of 3D/CGI animation but they actually managed to make it work! Actually, I PREFER them in 3D because it makes me feel like I'm playing an idol rhythm game.
The animation is incredibly smooth, the music is delightful and exciting while containing powerful lyrics that people who feel wronged by others or are tired of those sappy songs that

keep getting released every week can relate to and feel inspired by. I think what falls short here was the main character, every episode she is having some meltdown or argument with another person which others can consider quite exhausting and deterred me from liking this immediately. I can see anyone giving up half way or even earlier simply because Nina is horrendously annoying like a normal teenager who never stepped foot into the real world or the city. However, upon watching each episode I was able to see her grow out of her typical tantrums and into someone that matured and learnt how to deal with conflicts effectively.
Towards the end of the anime, I found myself connecting to all of the characters even Nina to my surprise. There's actually a really beautiful ending to this show and I hope everyone gives it a try despite what it may seem at first. This show has a wonderful meaning behind it and honestly, I found myself in tears towards the final few episodes.
Definitely worth the 8/10 and honestly I'm glad I didn't give up on watching simply because the main character was acting her age. I think people watching need to know what it means to be a child and that when faced with rough situations, a child can act out in a self-destructive way. I even as an adult can sometimes be self-destructive so now that I reflect on it, I don't mind Nina that much.
P.S. for those who are crying about the girls love between Nina and Momoka being brushed off need to be reminded that Nina is 17 and Momoka is a whole a** adult. I see them as nothing but sisters that love each other and want to support each other. I do not see them having romantic interests in each other simply because their ages make that quite creepy.
