I don't usually write a review, but I went out of my way for this piece.
If you're tired of Isekai bullshit and other nonsense romantic comedy crap, Give this one a go.
Outlaw Star is better than 95% of modern anime we watch.
Epic backgrounds; The Cities, the space stations, galaxies, planets, hell - those spaceships man... You don't see that kinda detail anymore. I kinda understand how we have less time than the people in 1990s, but I also get the feeling that the art got weaker since a less detailed piece also earns money nowadays, because there are a lot of untrained eyes watching

the thing and giving it money.
Insane creative ideas; from spaceships with arms to cats operating spaceships, from magic casting guns to chinese dudes who chant to block your rocket launcher with some Tao chinese nonsense shield, this anime is hilarious, and it is also extremely futuristic. Check that god damn spaceship called Outlaw Star, and put it next to Falcon X of Elon Musk. I gotta say, Elon did a good job taking after Outlaw Star. Well, most of the technology in anime is kinda illogical, but it still sells.
I gotta confess tho, there are some stupid things about Outlaw Star too. The inner emotional nonsense of Suzuka or Gene is absurd, but they are still way better than our modern day spastic anime MCs emotional bullshit. Also, the episodes rarely connect with other, leaving you with a strange feeling of emptiness. You can't quite make the connection between events, as they are rushed as fuck. The ending is also rushed, the writers probably had to end the anime at some point because of low budget or something.
Regardless, this thing needs a remake movie series with a little bit of magic touch.
Last but not least, you're gonna fall in love with Aisha and her voice actor.
