Claymore was an unexpected surprise to me. Each scene found a way of pulling me deeper and deeper into the story. I found a particular fondness for the characters, especially Teresa of the Faint Smile.
The soundtrack featured with this anime is simply outstanding. I personally took the time to hunt it down on Amazon, which is not like me at all. Every moment is amplified with a low, brooding tone or a tribalistic song to complement the beastly nature of the true beasts within each and every Claymore.
The art of each scene was also well-done, as well as the characters themselves.

A true slice-of-life anime that warms my heart. Every episode seems to bring in minute details that pertain to life that most animes overlook. The entire theme of this series (which to my knowledge seems to be Friendship) remains abundantly clear throughout the entire series and not once is it seen as otherwise. With no real plot and very little transition, it takes a bit of getting used to if you are not familiar with the style of anime. Rich with detail and full of vibrant and dynamic characters, Akira has it all. A grungy Neo-Tokyo comes to life with beautiful panoramic views of life in a post-apocalyptic era. The imagery really jumps out of the screen as the film continues playing through a tale of man trying to control forces of unearthly power.
One thing that gives this anime movie credit is the characters. In every scene, you can feel the characters' emotion and their drive. Heavy in action and drama, this is not a light anime. Themes weighted on Loyalty, Respect, and Friendship play throughout the movie and ... |
