Mahoutsukai no Yome Season 2
add

A magic school in London, a calm of manner teacher and students of this teacher who you get to know. Said teacher also has a close apprentice who has something special about her. The tone of the stories is a little different - I'd say Mahoutsukai no Yome season 2 has a coming-of-age kind of feeling, with its focus on Chise and her new classmates, while Lord El-Melloi II is more about unsolving mysteries -, but some may be able fill the void they are feeling after finishing one with the other.

Maoujou de Oyasumi
add

Both are anime that feature a human and a different species (demon, dragon) coexisting in the same house and becoming each other's family. Be it Princess Suya in the demon castle or Tohru's presence in Kobayashi's residence, both these girls change the way of the household completely, making the ordinary daily life different and way more fun than it was before. Those two series also have a very similar feeling: Overall they seem to be about the pure comedy of the day by day life of the characters, but the undertones of it carry some layers of drama that will make you emotional when you least expect it. They're heartwarming and cute shows, and if you liked one, you will probably like the other.

I couldn't help but think about Hunter x Hunter when I was watching Tower of God. Both MCs start off their journey trying to find somebody that is important to them, and it involves tower climbing with different levels in each, tests and enemies to fight. MC also doesn't seem very strong at first, but he uses his head in the best way he can to try to solve some problems and find people to help him in his task.

Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta...
add

Although Hamefura is an Isekai and Net-juu isn't, both anime revolve around games and have a kind-hearted, cute and funny otaku main character. The overall vibe that feature funny and healing moments is there, as is the romance. In Net-juu the MC pretends to be somebody that she's not (pretending to be a boy when she's actually a girl) and in Hamefura the MC ends up in the body of a villainess, which she totally isn't). Those girls have to deal with this other identity in their different ways.

Both anime have the same peaceful setting, and each episode there's a new mushi/ayakashi that our main character meets. Unlike other people who usually fear mushi/ayakashi, Natsume/Ginko (the MCs) try their best to understand them and their true nature.

Little Witch Academia (TV)
add

A young girl is motivated to perform in a stage after watching a marvelous show during her childhood. In Kaleido Star Sora wants to become part of a Circus, while in Little Witch Academia Akko wants to learn magic so she can make people happy (with a Circus-like presentation). In their journey, they meet two great friends who will always accompany them and a rival, who they slowly get closer to.

Princess Tutu
add

They're both original shows by director Satou Junichi that feature a girl following the path to achieve her dream. In Princess Tutu, Ahiru wants to become a great ballet dancer; in Kaleido Star, Sora wants to become part of a Circus. Ahiru and Sora can be sloppy, but get serious when they need to and are always ready to give their all for a presentation. Their relationship with their rival is also similar - admiration, rivalry and somewhat friendship and care.

Both involve a girl striving to make their dream (which involves presenting themselves to a large audience) come true - in Full Moon wo Sagashite Mitsuki wants to be a singer; in Kaleido Star Sora wants to be part of a Circus. The worlds they find themselves into can be harsh, but they love it nevertheless, and keep trying to get better. Through all that, they're supported by a spirit-like figure, who is always there to help/give advice.

Those are movies about a single mom raising a child from a different species. In the case of Ookami Kodomo, the protagonist raises her two half-wolves kids; in the case of Maquia, the protagonist raises a human boy as if he was her own child. Those are one of the few anime I've ever seen that focus on how hard it is to be a single mom. Both are great movies, and will surely make you cry.

InuYasha
add

A 15-year-old girl is transported to another world. There, she finds out she has some sort of spiritual powers, and ends up helping people by fighting the villains of this other world. In Escaflowne Hitomi is literally transported to another world - Gaea, a steampunk-ish world with kings and queens, reigns and animal-like people -, while in InuYasha Kagome is transported to the Feudal Era, 500 years in the past, a world where youkai lurk around. Nevertheless, both settings are similar and the heroine finds herself in the same position of "transferred to another world with powers + now gotta help". Another similarity shared is Hitomi and Kagome's personality. Both girls have strong personalities and don't need to be protected at all times, finding answers to their own problems and showing maturity to deal with certain situations. They're also easy to identificate with. Aside from their personality and the situation they're in, as the story progresses we see more things in common between the girls: Kagome has a crush on her real world, and so does Hitomi. Yet, they fall in love with a new person after going to this other world.

Sarazanmai
add

If you like any show directed by Ikuhara and want something similar, you have to watch another show by Ikuhara. That's because his anime isn't similar to anything else besides his own stuff. Both Penguindrum and Sarazanmai are full of methaphores, beautiful magical girl-like sequences and great animation. Mawaru Penguindrum is about two boys doing his best to save the life of their little sister; it's a story about destiny. Sarazanmai is a story of three boys who are trying to connect with someone they love; it's a story about connections. They're equally insane and amazing in their own way, and the story-telling is very Ikuhara-ish: Hard to understand at first - but then, everything connects.

Both are short comedy anime that are actually funny and unpredictable: In Ueno-san, because of her inventions; in Seki-kun, because of the different games he plays. White-haired girl is present and the setting is a school. Ueno-san is way dirtier than Seki-kun, though.

So you wanna watch anime and learn biology at the same time? Welcome. While in Hataraku Saibou we have actual cells living and working inside the human body, in Moyashimon we have a protagonist who can see bacteria. Although the settings aren't the same, both feature biology and microorganisms as important/main characters in the series. And, yes, you will feel attached to them.

Anime that feature the dark side of society. Lots of action and lots of tragedy. Both have a "protagonists against the world" kind of vibe. In both anime the main characters meet by chance and spend time together, eventually falling in love with each other. Their relationship is never really mentioned or the main focus of the story, but it's clearly there as they face hardship and sorrow.

Both feature a school for teenagers who want to become stage girls - artists. While in Princess Tutu the girls want to be ballerinas (and there are boys who want that, too), in Revue they can follow any path they like, such as acting, singing, dancing, etc. Amidst all that, some fantastical elements exist, be it a talking giraffe or a boy whose heart was broken in many pieces. Both also feature fights that involve dancing or other kind of stage performances.

Otakus, who know more of anime romance than actual romance, falling in love - or having people falling for them. Those are shows about otakus that find out what the feeling of love is like. In Love Stage the love blooms between two boys, and in Wotakoi, between a boy and a girl. The comedy of the shows are really similar as well, and the side characters relationship are equally cute as the main one's.

Both anime feature female main characters that start off weak but gradually grow as they learn more about the world around them and their own abilities. Another similarity is that both those strong mcs use bow and arrows as their weapon. Besides that, both anime are great Fantasy/Romance, which, in my opinion, is a genre combination that isn't usually well made. In those two anime the feelings of the main characters are taken into consideration during their journey. So yeah, if you're looking for more strong female leads which feelings are taken into account in a world with fantasy elements, there you are.

Koi wa Ameagari no You ni
add

Age gap romance anime well made. If you think Koi wa Ameagari is doing it well, then you'll sure think the same about Koi Kaze - and the same thing the other way around. Both deal with age gap love in a mature way, making sure to present the problems age gap couples may face without fetishizing or being silly about it. Koi Kaze deals with the theme in a more hardcore way, since there's not only the age gap taboo, but also incest. Both are very melancholic, but Koi wa Ameagari no you ni is lighter since there's a slight comedy in the middle of the rollercoaster drama.
