On the surface this appears to be just a simple underdog story but it is sooooooo much more! I can't remember another sports anime with such a group of different personalities who are just as interesting alone, in pairs or as a team. There is character depth here and not just for the two main ones Haiji and Kakeru but for all 10 of them. Running is such a solitary sport but here it shows the importance of others in your life and not just on the track.The importance of the journey and not the destination. This anime will make you laugh, cry and cheer ... sometimes all at the same time. It's inspiring and down to earth and will make you want to get off your couch and run. One of the best!
