The first two episodes of this show didn't help it very much. Initially I figured this would just be another generic fantasy show. We had the MC who wanted to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and become a hero who protects people from evil monsters and somehow we jump straight from that to him already being a jaded edgelord whose trusted friends end up being gambling addicted thieves and the conflict is literally solved by selling them into slavery. Yes, it's another one of those shows where everyone's just cool with slavery because the slaves all deserve it.

Unoffensive but entirely uninspired. If all you want out of a show is an isekai-lite slice of life with a bit of romance then go for it but ultimately there's so little happening in this show that you'll probably end up finding yourself skipping through the dialogue just to see if anything actually happens in an episode.
It's not saying much when some of the most significant events in the series were a contract dispute over patent rights following an amicable separation and advances in the treatment of foot fungus. On a minor note this show also managed to tick off a pet peeve of mine, ...

What's a better alternative title? "Wasted Opportunity" or "How not to adapt a series"?
The "first" season of Horimiya was fine with the biggest gripe being that in order to cram as much as they could into a single cour they decided to not only cut content but then throw in an inexplicable time skip to the end of the season cutting out even more in order to jump to the end of the series and wrap it up for god knows what reason.
