As a fan of the Overlord anime so far, I was ecstatic when I heard a new season is coming. I decided to wait until it was all done though so that I can watch it without any interruptions. To say I was disappointed is a bit of an understatement. Don't get me wrong, the visuals are stunning at times, but as most people who watch anime and aren't critics, the plot is the most important part to us. The plot leaves off from last season where our protagonist Ains wants to build an empire. There are few things wrong that I noticed right
...
off the bat. The characters seemed to have a different personality. Albedo seems a lot more "horny". Shalltear seems more reserved and is more like a subordinate to others (in seasons before, she was acting like she is on the top).
The plot seems boring to me at least. I am used to overlord being a comedy anime, but in this last season I felt like most of the jokes are kind of forced. They tried to put too many jokes in there and therefore none of them really hit the mark. The plot is linear with no real interesting things happening.
I would have preferred if the creators didn't make the building of the empire as the main plot of this season as it is bland.

First of all, let me get my really biased subjective point of view out: When I started watching Shimoneta, it was well...saying it was dirty is an understatement. So many words and sentences that aren't normally said are said. However as the show progressed, I got to say, I got used to these dirty jokes all the time and I focused more on the overall plot of it. If you look at the plot, it isn't that different from other plots. The cause is just different. And overally it was a nice comedy.
➊┇ Humour ➠ The humour in this show is very indecent, which is
...
up to liking of some people, but not others. And while there is so much of it, people don't think much of it in the end. It is obvious that this show was made to be a joke so I don't understand anyone that takes it seriously.
❷ ┇ Fanservice ➠ Suprisingly, this show doesn't contain as much fanservice as was expected. Most of the show is just dirty jokes and then the fanservice starts mostly in the second half of the season. This creates a weird balance of dirty jokes and the fanservice which is best described as strange.

➊┇ Plot ➠ The plot is unpredictable because all of the events just sort of... appear. It feels a bit like the producers just came up with events out of nowhere instead of making a coherent plot story that follows each other after each episode.

Another generic review here. Before I list the positives and negatives of this show, I gotta say, it was a pleasant watch no matter what I say. It has a refreshing view on the Isekai genre that is so overdone nowadays.
𝓟𝓸𝓼𝓲𝓽𝓲𝓿𝓮𝓼
➊┇ Modern stuff/references ➠ Just the fact that the character uses guns as weapons makes the show unique from the ones I have seen. While some people may like this, others hate it and it is understandable. With most of the stuff Hajime pulls out never being shown before, it makes it seem like the creators just thought of them for that particular episode. However,
...
the guns are a positive thing overally. It makes the show unique.
❷ ┇ Fanservice ➠ Fanservice as adored by many people in the anime community couldn't have escaped the grasp of this show. However, this show made the fanservice how it should be done. It is done in moderation and the scenes don't get too weird so it can be watched even as a normal show.
𝓝𝓮𝓰𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓿𝓮𝓼
➊┇ Repetitiveness ➠ just like the first season, this season follows the same pattern. The MC gets asked to do work out of nowhere, reluctantly agrees and does the work. This while also trying to find the dungeons as in the first seasons. The show could have improved much from more variety in the plot.
❷ ┇ Bossfight ➠ The bossfight of the series of sorts is a bit anticlimactic. It doesn't feel as grand as it should and is finished really quickly with no major problems for the MC at all. This makes the overall building up to the bossfight bland.

Anime about a revenge arc of a character. The positives of the anime are:
➊┇ Interesting take on the Isekai genre ➠ First episode doens't start with being Isekai-ed, they are already isekai-ed. The weapon choice of our main protagonist also feels refreshing.
➋ ┇ The plot ➠ The plot is a double edged sword. The plot is about a revenge arc of our protagonist while not actually getting the revenge. For some people, the lack of goal can make the plot a bit boring, which is what happened to me but it also feels unique from the anime that I have seen.
As for the negatives:
➊┇
...
Repetitive ➠ The lack of goal in the plot makes the story form a pattern that repeat through the series. MC gets asked for help by someone random, he helps relucantantly.
➋ ┇ Sexual/Fanservice ➠ I am a fan of fanservice in most shows as well, however, this series could benefit from less fanservice. By fanservice right now, I mean few specific scenes that were just weird to watch, like when MC meets the dragon for the first time. The normal fanservice adds to the side characters personality and is a nice touch, while also making the show more interesting.

First of all, I should start by saying, I have been looking forward to this new season. I couldn't wait so I read the manga for it. For people who have read manga, there are many changes made to the plot. This doesn't necessarily mean that it is bad change, however, most of the changes that I saw here are really negative.
Most of the stuff that is included in the anime isn't explained well and is missing development. For example, the old lady helping Rishia improve her fighting. In manga, it is explained how she got introduced, but in anime, she just sort of
...
appears. Other changes that I dislike are when they go to the other world, everyone except for Filo is together. I feel like it had more impact in manga where it was just Rishia and Naofumi, but that is purely subjective.
I liked the revenge arc from the first season and so it isn't weird when I say I didn't enjoy this season as much, however, even then I think it could have been better. If I look past the changes made compared to manga, the biggest issue here in the plot is the speeches characters have. In almost every episode, at least one of the characters has a "MC speech" supposed to show how kind, and loving he is that he/she keeps pushing forward. However, after 12 episodes it became annoying and los t all meaning.
Outside of the plot, I realized several things. The animation isn't all that great either. I started to mostly notice this in the second half of the season where they were already transported to another world. The walking animations, the speaking and even all the fighting feels static and bland. I can't really compare it to the first season as I didn't pay much attention to animation there, however, just the fact that I saw it here makes me think it is worse than in the first season.
This whole season feels all just like parts are stitched together and don't make lots of sense. Definitely wouldn't recommend

The anime is overally really good. Doesn't matter if you are starting or are a veteran.
8/10
The story of the anime is original to certain extent. No more isekais that repeat everything. The main thing that I liked about the anime is the story. It isn't predictable. In today's age where so many of the isekais and other animes have the same predictable plot (reincarnation, getting to the top, getting harem, the top), this story made me tune in by its unpredictability. While I am not used to old animes so it was a bit weird from the beginning watching it, I am now considering watching
...
a lot more of the older animes just becasue of this one. Definitely recommend.

When I started watching TPN, it quickly became one of my favorite series. This was due to it changing my point of view. But that was the first season. As many people already said, they decided to read manga after watching the first season. I personally started with manga before that and I wanted to read manga after I have seen second season but i somehow got into it out of excitement I couldnt hold in. The manga, although it was not perfect for everyone was one of my favorite mangas and it still is. I was getting hyped up for the season and so
...
I started watching. I have to say, my hopes were crushed immediately. This is the first review i am ever writing on an anime and just because its so bad. Or like, bad is a wrong word to use. The season feels very rushed. The character development you have seen in manga is not existent here. Some parts that were added or the old parts were completely unnecessary and would be so much better if they were removed instead. But, the best option would probably be to rather take time with the anime, even if it meant having to wait longer or having more seasons. This was the same issue with the game cyberpunk 2077. The game itself wasn’t completely bug free after release making some people really angry. The same problem appears here. Both cyberpunk and TPN 2 should have been delayed and creators should have rather taken more time with them. Like this, even though it’s released on date, it will anger tons of fans and therefore will make the anime worse in rating. And I know that having another season of TPN would cost tons of money but in return, they would get more money because of thr show being so good. I know, some things may be unreasonable for some people reading this but its my opinion. In general, this anime took a big L and instead of it turning into a really popular anime with great plot, character development and other stuff, it instead turned into one of the most discussed worst (as in ruining the hype) animes today
