There's only a chapter of this story in translation, and its awkwardly done, but the art! This manga is breathtaking! Every panel is incredibly detailed and the characters are all uniquely drawn and interesting to look at. The story seemed interesting from what I could decipher. I liked the gloomy tone and that the characters were college kids instead of the usual high schoolers. Treat it like an art book and take the 20 minutes to check out the one chapter out there. Its so worth it! (Also if someone wants to finish translating this you've got at least one person down to read it ... ;)... )

Did you love the first two seasons of Osomatsu-san and desperately need something to fill the sextuplet shaped hole in your life? Do you know anything about horse racing? Do you have half an hour to kill? If so then you might as well check this out.
This was a mediocre episode of Osomatsu-san. Most jokes didn't stick, and the ones that did were chuckle worthy at best. I'd say that there's a lot more gross-out humor in here than in the actual series, and most of it was pretty lazy. Art is noticeably stiffer than in the original series as well. There's only so many ... racing jokes that you can make, and at the end of the episode the writers seemed to be beating a dead horse (bad pun definitely intended).
I don't know if I'd watch this were I to go back in time knowing how iffy it was. Unless you're a completionist, REALLY love Osomatsu-san, or happen to belong to a very niche group of horse-racing-anime fans, I'd say this is probably a skip. I didn't hate it, but I didn't really love it either.

Heads up before you read: A Cat and a Bird (or just Cat and Bird) is a Korean manhwa, which are read left to right instead of right to left like most manga fans are used to.

Story (6): The story of Cat and Bird is nothing spectacular. Unless you're into teen angst I wouldn't recommend it. It may be a bit deeper than your average shoujo or slice of life, but not by much, and at times it shows its age (there's no date on this thing, but I'm guessing it's a mid to late nineties piece.) Things like character relationships and time frames ... are often confusing and muddled. The bad art (which you can read more about below) often took me out of the serious tone the story was trying to create. Still, it's a short read, which I see as a plus, and was one of the main reasons I picked it up.

Art (3): Oh god my eyes! The art in this is horrendous as far as characters go! Everyone constantly looks stiff. Any time a character is holding something, or doing any sort of movement they look terrible. Faces look inhuman and fish like (yes I know this is a common complaint for manga but I swear this manhwa takes the cake in creating inhuman, ugly fish people.) Character design wise this manhwa definitely shows its age. I imagine the fashion choices in this would get a chortle even during the time it came out (again, I'm guessing the nineties.) In particular Hye Jung had me cringing at her outfits in at least half of the frames she was in! I didn't notice anything too bad about the backgrounds, but oh god the people!

Character (6):Outside of the complaints I listed above, there's nothing too offensive about the characters. I actually kind of liked Jin Young's character. Her trauma was understandable, though a bit melodramatic. Hye Jung fell into the standard "genki girl" trope, but she was a bit more fleshed out than most and nowhere near as annoying. The male characters were both pretty bland and had a minimal impact on the story as a whole, though the cram school teacher was at times a bit too invested in the lives of his students.

Enjoyment (6): I found myself enjoying this more in it's latter half, after I had adjusted to the bad art and the story began heating up. It never lit my world on fire, but I've definitely read worse manga and manhwa. It sometimes succeeded at creating the melancholy and thoughtful tone it aimed for, but more often than not it failed.

Overall (5): I'd say skip it unless you can stand terrible, dated art and are desperate for a short read with decent characters and teen angst. And if you are I'd recommend checking out River's Edge by Kyoko Okazaki, a manga that does a much better job of pulling off similar themes, before going anywhere near this manhwa.

This is more of a warning than a review. There's no reason to see this OVA. It's literally the first 20 minutes of the film. If you've already seen it and the OVA is still fresh in your mind just skip about 20 minutes into the movie.

So you've decided to go see an action movie at a movie theater. However, due to unforeseen complications you've arrived 20 minutes late. As you rush into the theater you look at the screen to see a man, who you assume to be the main character, beating up a random stock enemy, but you don't know why. This is more or less the beginning of BUSTA!

Lots of manga start out like this, but the problem with BUSTA! is that it assumes you already have a pretty good idea of what's going on. A few hints about the ... backstory are dropped here and there, but for the most part the story can get pretty confusing.

Another confusing part of BUSTA! are it's character designs. They're done well enough, but a lot of them look similar. One moment where this really hurts it is when the main character fights an enemy who looks exactly like him. It was almost impossible for me to keep track of who was who.

The characters personalities were pretty stock type. The Shonen MC who lives to fight, his witty best friend who always teases him, etc. they're not portrayed as being cliche, but they're not really ground breaking either.

Story wise, BUSTA! ends far too quickly. Just as the plot is heating up, the story is over. It feels unsatisfying, and I get the feeling that the mangaka wanted to do a lot more with it.

Overall BUSTA! Was a quick read with great art. If you're on the fence about reading it, it's only 7 chapters so I'd say just go ahead and do it.

The story's just as weird, confusing, and quirky as it was before and the art style is still perfectly moe in the most ironic way possible. As a plus, we even get to see one of the main reasons Kumi hates being class president! Now put on your Borg and roller skates, and don't forget your lacrosse net, because you still have ... a few more aliens to catch!

Animation Runner Kuromi is cute, fun, and pretty hilarious too! The story begins when Kuromi starts her first day at work. Unfortunately for her, after her production manager faints from being overworked, she's forced to take his job and become the next production manager. This might not have been that bad if the animators weren't so lazy that they couldn't even be bothered to work at the studio most of the time. With a fast approaching deadline and barely any of the show animated, can Kuromi get it done in time?!?

The story itself is pretty basic. What really makes it shine ... are the jokes and references (look out for Lupin III *cough cough* I mean Luis Monde III) along with it's unique setting. Be careful, because you might actually learn a thing or two about the animation industry!

The art is very cute and chibi-esque. This often adds to the shows comedy via exaggerated movement. It's not particularly unique in any way besides being chibi, but all of the characters have interesting designs and don't all look the same.

The characters all have different personalities, and part of the story is about Kuromi trying to understand each one of them so that she can get the animators to do their jobs. The only characters who undergo any development are Kuromi and Hamako, but considering this is a 40 minute ova there doesn't really need to be much.

I watched the dub, which seemed to be pretty well done. The music never stands out, but it does it's job. Sound effects are pretty good too.

So basically, you really don't have a reason not to watch this. It's only 40 minutes long and extremely easy to find (wink wink, nudge nudge youtube.) Check it out if you get the chance!

These are cute shorts that were released after each episode premiered in Japan. Though they may provide a bit of information they mainly just make fun of the show and it's characters. As for the comedy they're usually hit or miss, but since they're a bit under 2 minutes it's not a huge waste of time if you don't think the joke's funny. The Chibi art style is pretty simple and can easily be compared to the anime Wooser's Hand to Mouth Life. If you haven't seen Gargantia then I'd recommend watching these the way they were intended (episode 1, special 1, episode ... 2, special 2, etc.) It's a cute and fun touch to the original series.
