Vampire in the Garden

Whilst I've only seen one episode, Vampire in the Garden reminded me of Blood+. The vampire hunters reminded me of Red Shield from Blood+, but what really stood out were the vampires, that looked incredibly similar to the Chiropteran. Music also plays an important part (Diva's song, the music box), something that caused me to connect the two.

These are both very similar manga in my personal opinion - the mc are both young boys living everyday lives when their lives are suddenly turned upside down. They then have to learn to adjust to their new lives, and have to deal with tragedy and heartbreak along the way. Both manga are very dark and contain a lot of violence, and just have an overall very similar feel. If you're looking for something more mature, and like one of these manga, then I recommend the other.

Blood-C

In my personal opinion, Shikabane reminds me a lot of Blood-C. In both anime series, two young girls work for shrine/cults slaying monsters (Shikabanes and Elder Bairins). The female leads (Makina and Saya) are practically unstoppable. Whilst Blood-C is more psychological, if you enjoy one you will likely enjoy the other what with the similar characters, plot, and gore.

Both manga contain small rural towns in which monsters lurk. Each are very gory and detailed, with characters getting eaten or torn apart. Each have physcological backgrounds, and are interesting short reads.

Kasane

I have found both Elfen Lied and Kasane to be very similar manga. Both of the mc's are seen as a freak of nature due to their deformities, and are both bullied as small children to the point of breaking. Kasane and Lucy each have their own powers, and use them to achieve their revenge. If you like Elfen Lied, you'll like Kasane, and vice versa - they each are beautifully drawn and give the same feel, and are fantasy-tragedy-romance.

Both contain friends trying to help others. They each share a similar mixture of slice of life and fantasy. Yui is from 'another world' *ie: alternate timeline/future*, like Ushio in Clannad. Each have relatively sad scenes, though Clannad is much more tragic. Both anime have very good storylines and are very enjoyable - if you like Clannad, you'll like Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete.
