The female MC for both animes is a girl from an upper-class family, but hated by them. Thus, she was abused and forced to do housework, in spite of her status. After leaving her previous life behind, she found herself surrounded by people who genuinely care for her. Their actions brought happiness to her life, which her previous life was devoid of. Over time, the female MC developed feelings for one of these people, the male MC. Both are slow burning romance anime with similar premises. Watakon has a lot of drama, action and bloodshed, as it deals with military and supernatural themes. Whereas Ikenaikyo is a wholesome romcom with only a little bit of drama.

NEET Kunoichi to Nazeka Dousei Hajimemashita

The premise of both animes is a salaryman sharing a studio apartment with a lazy otaku girl who leads drastically different lives when outdoors and indoors. The salaryman has no choice but to cook and do chores for the girl, on top of his existing workplace commitments. Himouto Umaru-chan's titular character is known as a beautiful model student at school, whereas NEET Kunoichi's Shizuri is a ninja who protects her master when outdoors. This difference results in Umaru-chan's laid-back slice of life genre with a dash of CGDCT, in contrast to NEET Kunoichi's action-packed battle scenes, albeit it has some romance, which is almost nonexistent in Umaru-chan.
