This is my first review so bear with me, let me begin with the good:
This anime was pleasantly enjoyable beyond what I expected in the beginning. I didn’t have high expectations whatsoever and I honestly only picked it for background ambiance knowing it would be an anime you don’t have to really pay attention to in order to follow along with the plot and I was right. Still it was enjoyable and honestly it had some comedic moments that had me legitimately laughing and I wasn’t expecting all the comedy, honestly how this anime isn’t categorized as comedy I will never know but it
...
absolutely should be. I ended up watching its entirety and I honestly enjoyed it for what it is, a comedy adventure fantasy that’s easy on the eyes that you can shut your mind off and watch casually to get your fix. Along with that all the characters besides the MC are easy to enjoy if you aren’t hung up on the need for complex backstories or complexity in any form really. So as it stands I would say this anime is what it is, an adventure comedy that doesn’t stand out and has been done a thousand times yet you may still have a place for it in your queue on a day you need some mind numbing comedy anime that’s as trope as it is unoriginal yet still somehow enjoyable.. or so I thought.
Now for the bad:
It’s unfortunately overshadowed by the single most important person in the anime.. the MC. I have never in my life hated a MC as much as this one(I should have known the second I found out his name was Lloyd), now don’t let that stop you from watching, I made it through the majority of the anime before i started really despising him and it came to a monumental header in the last episode. So much so that I knew I had to make a review just to drag that oblivious good for nothing blonde through a minefield of insults to satiate me since he selfishly stole my enjoyment for the entire show. He’s the worst type of MC there is to begin with sure, he’s oblivious and innocent and has less F**KING brain cells than Cheech or Chong. He has absolutely zero character development and is so stupid that I doubt he even could develop if he tried. The other characters in the show make up for his annoyance for a time and if you start this anime that’s what will keep you watching. They are lucky they ended on the episode they did because there would be a 90 percent drop rate after that.. not really, I’d keep watching because I like torturing myself and I have a need to finish things. Anyway I’ve gotten off topic so I’ll surmise with this.
Story: 4- forgetful, unoriginal, but familiar so 5 it is.
Art: 7- the anime is fluid and pleasant to watch, I enjoy the over dramatized moments and that style.
Sound: 4- it’s getting a 4 simply because I can’t remember it whatsoever
Character: 2- It gets a 2 because I enjoyed the other characters besides the MC however the lack of depth doesn’t raise it from there.
Enjoyment: 4- honestly it’s not super memorable and it’s nothing you haven’t seen before. But it’s good for a couple laughs and planting a seed of hatred in your heart for all things the MC is or ever will be.
Overall: 3- waste of time is the best description for this anime. That’s not saying it’s bad and it may even be some peoples ideal mediocrity, so go out there and watch it as soon as you can’t think of anything else that you want to see! #EvenHisNameAnnoysMeLloyd #HowCan70PeopleHaveFavoritedThatMoron!?
