i would have never thought that emporio would end as the main character and the only one to remember everything. thank you araki.
i cried when i came to the realization that the entire plot of jojos is demolished entirely, unless, it wasnt? that much was still unclear to me when everything was the same but different (same actions different people). my mind raced through the other jojo seasons and quickly deliberated that the ending to part 6 was one of the more engaging endings, as i was further on the edge of my seat than i had been with any other jojo part ending.
going
...
into part 6, i never liked any of the characters. but i think araki wrote them this way so that you see the transformation from being prisoners to emotionally appeasing one another while also simultaneously attempting to save themselves from eternally cosmic damnation in soul erasure.
definitely a mind fuck to be sure. the actual episodes are boring, but the beginning and end are the best parts. my only complaint is that it wasn't more well-rounded.
the intro was disappointing. the animation was top-notch.

Those who believe that Kimetsu no Yaiba is the anime of the year and the face of shonen, I genuinely wonder what sort of standard they are holding Kimetsu no Yaiba to. Under no circumstances would I even BEGIN to rank this poorly generated cookie cutter anime among even the most MID modern productions.
This was probably the most unenjoyable and un-interesting anime I have watched to date. This arc was honestly no different.
The story is the most repetitive part of this whole mid fest. Goes a little something like this:
Step 1. Summoned to fight a demon
Step 2. Discover the demon
Step 3. Enter 10 minutes of
...
only dialogue
Step 4. Begin fight scene where demon is injured, slayer is injured, over and over again
Step 5: Flashback for Slayer
Step 6: Slayer gains new info or skill
Step 7: Demon is decapitated
Step 8: Begin recovery montage for Slayer.
It is the same 8 things. Over and over again without failure.
While there may be no filler in the episodes, each episode feels like it's half filler within itself, surrounded only by useless dialogue that contributes nothing to the storyline or random filler 'side-quests' that don't impact the end result at all.
I wanted to like this series. I did, I really truly did. The borderline caustic fanbase and equally as toxic marketing made it seem like what you may have heard it to be: the shonen of shonens. However, when multiple children portrayed as such, both in the show and outside of the show (in fan fiction), are sexualized out the wazoo, it made it EXTREMELY difficult for me to begin watching this series and come at it with a clear mind and heart. ITS WEIRD TO MAKE FAN FIC OF NEZUKO OKAY.....
n e who, the art is the only thing Kimetsu no Yaiba has going for it. It's what kept me watching and from dropping this show completely. The fight scenes that ARE different (which is extraordinarily rare) are a sight to see with your own eyes.
The sound is repetitive and is re-used for like 10 episodes at a time.
Characters are ok but I really expected more from all the rage surrounding Kimetsu no Yaiba. This shit is mid as mid comes.
Enjoyment was halfed automatically by the repetitiveness and the spacing between actually meaningful arcs.
Overall, 4/10, don't give the r/nezuko enjoyers the praise they so crave and the validation for enjoying watching children suffer. This is weird.

Quite frankly, Darling in the FranXX might be one of the most overhyped anime of our generation, and let me explain why.
When the only thing a show has to stand for is it's art style, you know people try WAY too hard to enjoy or like a certain aspect connected to the art. Unfortunately with FranXX, this fact protrudes as simply given and it doesn't take a seasoned weeb to figure this one out.
Story: My oh my... even if we completely disregard the outlandish, non sensical and totally WTF ending I believe I have ever witnessed when watching anime, the story is so... boring. I
...
have read many reviews that I will now agree with that said that FranXX stretched and elongated 6 or 7 episodes worth of plot into 24 painstakingly drab and rarely exciting episodes. In my opinion, I liken this situation to the popular Dark Souls franchise, or any game like it for that matter as such: There is one difficulty. You either enjoy that one game, or you dont. The developer/production team should and will have more time to both perfect the one singular version of the game and focus on enhancing that existing sole-copy, instead of dragging things out or making it feel any bit unnatural or forced. With FranXX, the production team came at this remarkable and potentially limitless concept and completely f*cked it into the ground in order to please short term desires.
Quite honestly, the only good part about the story was the consistency with the interpretation of mecha VS evil. AND EVEN THEN does FranXX somehow leave you asking so many questions.
Art: FranXX is, I will admit, quite beautiful. I'm not sure if it's simply because of how recent it is, or rather the effect that the breathtaking stills hold upon one's eyes, but the art style is tremendous.
The mecha are so beautiful and unique, which is fairly difficult to come by in such a saturated genre. Each one has it's own visible personality and special skill set that is determined before even learning anything about the pilots or story behind the mecha itself. The voice of the VA's for the MCs fit the faces of the characters as well as the mecha which took me by surprise.
The character outfits suck. The design for the character models suck. Don't know how to sweeten the end to this rating.
Sound: I am quite over anime only sounding good or even manageable in the intro and stopping right as that last still rolls. FranXX is no exception.
The OP is mid to low high end tier for me. It captures the concept of FranXX itself yet falls short of actually depicting the true meaning of the show as a whole, which you may see within my rated ten anime is a consistent factor in their sound rating.
The SFX are sub par for an anime that presumably has this much influence and grasp on the western anime culture. I hate to see such gorgeous visuals go to waste with ear candy that went stale three years ago.
Character: For the first and only time I will write in this review: ZeroTwo is the most overrated, poorly written, disastrously brought forth anime 'waifu' that the modern anime culture has begun to glorify and even put on a fetish pedestal as if she is the next coming of any religious savior. It's appalling and it makes me reluctant to even give FranXX a 4 in the first place.
*minor spoiler ahead*
The characters all seem to be written by children, for children. That doesn't mean it's necessarily bad to do so, but it must be done correctly... FranXX shoves enslaved test tube babies into a barren world of aliens and isolation and expects them to deal with it on their own because of their strong-willed childish spirit.
*minor spoiler over*
The inter-personal relationships between the characters which allow them to pilot their mecha more efficiently are cornier than a fresh bag of popcorn. They are so forced and unnatural yet conveyed as something that just happened to be the case. In my opinion, there were only two character relationships that ACTUALLY made me feel any emotion at all, but it's not worth saying as the writing doesn't deserve nearly as much credit as it is given.
Enjoyment: If there is a god, why would they allow this to be marketed as an entertainment piece and not a very mildly dreadful art program? Not much needs to be said, and I will have my number speak for itself.

Say what you want about JoJo as a series, say what you want about the entire 5th part being unneeded for the whole story (each part is besides part 3, if we're being honest), but Diamond is Unbreakable simply put has the best animation, color palette, sound quality, OP/EDs, etc etc. I could go on and on, but this is in my opinion the best part out of the JoJo animated series so far.
Story: 7/10
minor spoilers ahead
This is where Diamond is unbreakable lags behind the other JoJo parts. The story is... well... lackluster. There's really only one main "antagonist", and the other stand users are
...
simply just filler, and don't constitute much into the end plot. That being said, almost every stand user the original characters encounter join them in the overarching fight against the main antagonist, which is the main idea surrounding this part. A small Japanese town bands together to confront the main antagonist.
This all being said, this antagonist is one of the craftiest and in my opinion creative to date.
Art: 10/10
The clear rainbow, tank top, dyed hair, psychedelic fad of the late 90s imbues itself into the story and the way that the producers chose to portray this part. In the opening, ending, and cuts themselves, mentions of 1999 (the given year) give haste to the thematic element of the 90s as well as the animated rendition.
Sound: 10/10
Old Disney channel level of good.
Character: 10/10
They all blend in part 5 better than they do in any other part.
Enjoyment: 10/10
Bom Bam Bom Bam Boom Booooom.
Overall: 10/10

The producers, writers, and animators for Great Pretender have the most respect, dedication, and upmost love to classically modern art out of any anime I have watched to date. Each frame is filled with an entire pallet of hues, and every episode holds its own shade of color consistently from the get go. Being "on the edge of your seat" is simply not enough to categorize the emotion that is brought out through watching this anime. And, for a mainly Netflix production, I dare say that this may and will remain to be the best Netflix anime of our time.
For the actual review, I
...
usually never take my time. However, with an anime with such dedication to detail, class, and respect for the culture that it is depicting, I must give this my full attention.
Story: 8.5/10
The appeal to Great Pretender, or GP for short, was substantially supported through the story, journey, and experiences showcased. It didn't feel as if it over or under-powered any bits or pieces key to character development later down the line.
Art: 10/10
Imagine the world's most renowned contemporary art museum... okay now imagine the standards that the museum would have for an exhibit... now imagine an anime exhibit... that anime would have to be GP. I LOVE the art of GP, and I can safely say that it is very hard to find someone who doesn't. The glossed finish over the screen hand-in-hand with the vibrantly colorful pallet brings the Louvre to your television.
Sound: 8/10
I would've liked to see a bit more uniqueness through the series. The same soundbit which is also present in both the OP and ED is used OVER and OVER again after each major arc and, to be frank, it doesn't necessarily get old as there is just so much to get through in between each playthrough of this one sound. It almost becomes key to the mood and feeling of a goal being fulfilled. Regardless, the soundtrack only supplements the other aspects of GP... and it's a shame, because a bit more of diversity would have made this a masterpiece.
Character: 8/10
The variety of age, diversity, and personality within the characters and their lives adds the drop of vitality and worthwhile purpose in becoming invested in modern anime.
Enjoyment: 10/10
You gotta watch it for yourself...
Overall: 9/10
NEED to watch again.
