Let me start by saying that I really did try to enjoy this manga. Let me follow that statement up by saying that after reading up to the 5th volume that I can't put up with this manga anymore.

Art:
Probably one of the few things that kept me reading the manga, it may not be that groundbreaking but it's really well done. Clean edges, nice proportions (a little bit of fan service too) and frankly pretty interesting character design gave this piece a really good look to it. I suppose then that it's a shame that the plot, characters and everything else about this manga ... is a poorly written and executed bundle of cliches.


Characters:
Other than the visual design of the characters, which once again aren't actually groundbreaking in any fashion, they're actually pretty terrible. Many characters in the manga appear in a purely antagonistic fashion and never truly get any sense, reasoning or motive as why they are actually doing the things they are other than the very blank reasoning of "I am with the organization" which got old after the first 4 people turned up and did it. The protag in this case isn't terrible and her reasoning while being extremely flawed and frankly stupid, is at least grounded in an exaggerated reality.


Plot:
Literally, this is actually most of the reason that I've given the manga such a low score. Poor writing and planning on how to introduce, characterize and flesh-out the more interesting people in the manga lead this to feel like nothing but a mish-mash of interesting plot-hooks and terrible cliches. Reasoning in this world is non-exsistant as many people just straight up do not seem to have any reason to do anything in this world and only seem to be there to push this manga "forward" (where ever that is because in 5 volumes I still don't know what it wants)


Overall:
Great character design, an interesting premise and strong artistic skills makes me sad that this manga is (in my own opinion, at least) pretty bad.

First of all, if you're looking for a read that's similar to Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko, then you're looking in the wrong place. This manga is not even remotely similar to that manga despite being written and drawn by the same mangaka (although the art style is similar, but that's it)

Despite this, I wouldn't call this manga bad by any means, the story is humorous and odd with a very unique dry sense of humor that is refreshing despite it's very odd basis that lacks impact if spoiled. It's a short and sweet read that highlights the relationship of a young adult male and a barefooted ... girl that he finds outside a convenience store.

The art is the same as the vastly more popular Tomo-chan wa Onnanoko and you can see the fact that the same mangaka wrote and drew both works, a very simple design that delivers all the impact that it needs to without being bogged down by hefty detail in a very charming fashion.

The characters are the main point in this manga and it certainly shows, despite the length of the doujin the characters don't feel skimped for detail, they are both interesting characters that interact in ways that seem extremely odd in an endearing, lewd fashion that at times seems as awkward as you might think. But that's really the charm and point of this manga and it achieves it superbly.

To summaries, this is a short, semi-lewd, awkward, oddball doujin that has a very distinct style and theme that although weird and not for the sensitive can be enjoyed by those who look past it.

This being the only manga from Itokatsu that I've read, I can't comment on how this compares to his other works, I can however say that this is a good read.

Firstly, the art isn't all that special and neither is character design, it even looks similar to Yotsuba& but the design fits well with the feel of the manga in a very low-key and simple manner.

The story is what really brings this manga together, a light-hearted and funny comic that establishes character relationships very well and makes you enjoy the time spent reading the manga. Nothing too gripping or depressing in the manga's plot but ... a very good read.

Overall, a nice short read that'll make you feel warm inside. Definitely worth the read for those looking for something funny, simple and heart warming.

If you're familiar with any of Takamichi's previous works then you'll know what to expect from them this time around.

A solid manga with less focus on story and plot with a more character driven feel with the focus being on the setting (which is developed very well from the art) and how characters interact within that place.

The art is beautiful and fits the feel of the manga very well.

Overall, very enjoyable short read with great art and characters placed in a beautiful setting.
