This show was so sweet it gave me cavities for lovers of banana fish I highly recommend this it has a similer vibe with less death. I saw reviews accusing this show of queerbaiting but i think those people don't fully understand the LGBTQ+ community and all they wanted was sex scenes. This anime showed love in a very genuine wholesome way. I can't express my love for it enough it was so well written I found myself in genuine shock by how well they managed to develop the characters in such a short amount of time. It has so much representation that i dont ... normally see in anime such as internalized homophobia and Asexuality. But this anime was not written to just have LGBTQ+ characters for the sake of having them it treats them like humans these are just people trying to accept themselves. The MCs of the show have a lot of chemistry and show how deeply they care for each other in many ways. It never explicitly states whether these feelings are romantic they to tell each other they really like each other but the way it was done most likely ment as a strong freindship. also both were shown to have interest in women. I do personally tend to see sexuality in terms of a spectrum and feel its the soul you love not the genitals. But if this is just a bromance im still all for it what i loved the most was when they were repeatedly mistaken to be a couple there was no comedic freak out nether character cared much about someone assuming they were a couple and at one point they kind of just went along with it. And thats why I love it, I kept finding myself genuinely smiling you dont have to be a fujoshi or fudanshi to like this anime its just a well made intresting story that is somehow relaxing while also building up tension.

Ok listen up I love this anime but you will not love this anime if you are impatient, don't appreciate slower paced or animes that make you think. Despite what it initially seems this show is not about battles or supernatural world building or detective work or horror it has those elements but that is kind of the background to what is really going on. Its much more about sorting through information and how to use that information and wisdom for the greater good. but the final episode of this anime is worth the wait and left me feeling very satisfied. The key to enjoying ... this show is being invested in the main characters and their relationship...if you don't like them as a couple then your also not going to like the show. The reason I'm giving so many disclaimers is because of all the complaints in the Crunchyroll comment section but they were really missing the point I think they were expecting mob psycho or noragami type stuff which are two of my favorite shows but I can really appreciate the uniqueness of this anime. In/Spectre is offbeat in the best way for me and it had great sherlockesq music. The dialog between characters felt realistic and there was some great dry humor the main girl Kotoko tends to make casual sexual innuendos during conversation and because the show usually doesn't point them out to you if your not paying attention you will miss some golden lines. Last but not least for a show that is strongly based in the supernatural world it just has a weird realism to it so ya there's my take.

So after hearing about this anime for a little while I finally decided to give it a chance. I wasn't one of those people who didn't give it a chance because they thought it looked childish I always wanted to watch it just never got around to it. There are both things I really liked and things that I didn't. Part of the problem was that it was so praised I was going in with high expectations which were mostly met but only really episode 8 on did it really get good for me. I kind of think that part of what happend was that ... the season this show came out in was really bland so this stood out and was elevated higher. I'm not saying that it isn't good I gave it an 8 but I kind of think that because of all the bad anime that was going on around it, it made it seem even better than it was. OK now on to why it is such a good show. It has a crazy unique and thought out story that makes you want to solve the mystery but you also know that whatever it is will not be sugar coated. This show has some pretty dark moments. This may seem like an odd comparison but in a lot of ways this reminded me of FMA. In both shows the kids are forced to grow up fast and the adults they meet are not their to save them but to allow the survival of the fittest to take place (There is defiantly some mild child abuse in made in abyss). Their are definite parallels I can draw between multiple characters but I don"t want to spoil it. And idk I just kept getting that vibe so I think if you are a FMA fan you will like this show. I also think though that the next season will be far better than this one because of where it leaves off you realize just how much potential it has to be an S-class anime.
