"Wicked City" is a gnarly body horror animated film. It's got it all: action, violence, horror, gore, monsters, sex, comedy, and romance. The body horror is really well done; with animation you can pull off the wildest things, and Wicked City does just that. I loved the monster designs and the art in general. The art and animation does not feel polished, I will say, but this gives the film a gritty look you just don't get anymore, especially in today's flash driven anime market. It was good. Not great, not bad. Just good.
The problem comes when you see that the entire story of Majora's Mask is in one volume. Simply put, you cannot fit the story of Majora's Mask into one volume. Majora's Mask has so many more undertones that any other Zelda game, and it's hard to truly do the game justice. It can be done, but certainly not in one volume. This was the manga's only flaw, and a lot of the game's side-stories suffer because of it. If you are a Zelda fan, you will probably enjoy it. Just don't go in having high expectations. |
