Unexpected is the first thing I thought upon stumbling upon Myself;Yourself. I learned eventually that it's based upon a Visual Novel, though that became obvious as most VNs tend to have similar structure (a main character, 4 or 5 heroines and a boy side character). Now when I say unexpected I mean I was truly thinking it was just another harem series, love triangle drama, or worse a complete waste of time.
Fortunately, it's not. It's actually pretty good. The main character, Sana, is not really terrible or dull like most MCs, though he is not that interesting either. The story is made incredibly interesting by

the interactions of the side characters. Nanaka is the main heroine but is traumatized by a certain event from her childhood, the twins are constantly suffering because of the relationship of their step-mother and their father, and even some dramatic and deeply emotional moments concerning certain characters I would loathe to spoil.
All of this drama is perfectly disguised as your typical slice of life high school story. And that is a good thing. You will be surprised by the first few episodes that these characters have much to tell you. I awkwardly liked Hinako the most, since she became an inmediate favorite: her "I am an adult" behavior is amazingly cute, and she goes through a simple yet very sweet arc.
Maybe my favorite thing was how effective the music was, not only the opening and ending themes but several sound tracks still play in my head as I write this. I also enjoyed how the story handled some very complicated real world problems involving trauma, depression, and family abuse. Maybe the mish-mash of everything might feel bloated at times, but I feel everything was touched upon with the right amount of time.
One of my few complaints is how the story unfolds. But believe me, they come as personal preferences and not diminish the quality of the story, which I think is very solid and overal very good.
If you want a simple drama anime with cute girls and some mature topics mixed in, I really recommend this. Unfortunately, there is nothing beyond this anime, which sucks because an OVA would have been great...
