!SPOILER FREE REVIEW!
Story[5]:
Pretty mediocre and nothing special so far. I didn't expect Sui Ishida would out-do his masterpiece TG with ease and I was right. The plotline is very predictable and you wouldn't really be surprised by anything. That said, it is Sui Ishida we are talking about, so I'm expecting much more.
Art[8]:
Aside from some very abstract panels, which come off as very chaotic and disorganized, everything is very beautiful. The choreography is nicely done, as expected. You can follow through with what's going on for the most part and feel satisfied. There is a "different" feel to this style, perhaps Ishida took a slightly
...
different route from TG.
Character[7]:
Not the most redeeming quality of this manga. The character tropes themselves are - cliche. But that doesn't really take away from them. There is some ingenuity to their appeal but maybe they are meant to be late bloomers. Keep in mind that doesn't apply to all characters. That said the protagonist himself is nothing more of a recycled product as of the 15th chapter. He does have some genuinely intriguing motives and perhaps will develop into an amazing character at some point.
Enjoyment[9]:
As a fan of Ishida's previous work, TG, I'm loving this one too. It started off as "goofy" and with a touch of "ridiculousness" to me, especially with how the main characters are handling themselves and are being handled but I'm loving it so far. The hype definitely is real where it's due and the comedic moments made me burst out laughing. Having a great time!
Overall[7]
Afterword:
Let me tell you - don't expect too much right off the bat. I have a premonition that this too, will be great at some point, but not now. Either you're patient enough for it to eventually happen or turn away disappointed. This has big potential, but so far it's still in its "incubating" period. Still, though, I encourage you to give it a try, especially if you were a fan of TG.

!MINOR SPOILERS!
Prologue:
Gantz is weird. If I had to use one word to describe it, however, it would be "obake" - because it doesn't know what it wants to be and it constantly changes - be it in a good or bad direction.
Story[4]:
This is Gantz's self-destruction. At the start, it's okay as it moves along it's getting weirder. It has some recovery points here and there and it gets pretty decent, but then comes forth a whole arc and you are like "Why the hell is this happening?". Plot ideas are introduced at different times and are forgotten/unexplored. Psychics and vampires are two of the things
...
that serve a major role in that sense. The pacing is good at times and pretty drawn out at others, especially towards the last chapters/arc right up until the ending which is the opposite - unspeakably rushed. It brings some very interesting and unique aspects to the table but also carries some very dissatisfying and irritating tropes. The author also relies a lot on softcore porn, ecchi themes, and shock value.
Art[8]:
Oku Hiroya once again doesn't know for sure what he wants to do, at least this time the whole diagram is more linear - it is changing as time progresses for the better. However, there are those moments where you see a character and you start to question if they are new. Bravo, for the monster design though! I was stunned and amazed, but then I was disturbed and disgusted when the time was right, for both occasions. I can also see he used a lot of references towards bugs, insects, and the like, which to me is one the most unwelcome and troublesome themes. Backgrounds and landscapes were for the most part - beautiful and daunting/in a good way\.
Character[8]:
The protagonist is a pile of excrements at the beginning. I felt not only him, the side characters but the masses were sort of an accurate portrayal of today's society but exaggerated. 80% of people involved (from the male spectrum) were thugs, rapists, gangsters, bikers, angry virgins, killers, or punks. Character growth is good, particularly with Kurono Kei, but other main characters receive little to no development at all. Women are treated, for the most part, as props and/or plot devices, and while they are partly the reason why Kurono is degenerate at the start they are also partly the reason why he becomes better later. Monsters have funny and distinctive traits but as time goes on, the mangaka focuses on a more of a shocking image rather than quirky and it becomes dull after a while. Another solid pro is that the protagonist receives the best treatment, no complaints there if only other main characters were raised better though. There is also a pretty iconic irony from Kurono's and Katou's motives and ideals, having the first follow the principles of the second for the greater good whilst the second looked up to the first.
Enjoyment[10]:
I loved Gantz and this rollercoaster became one of my favourites. I definitely dived in with higher expectations and was sort of disappointed later on. More often than not I was weirded out. I also came to the realization that this manga is very self-aware - to the point of it being funny. In addition, I found the many references to multiple different cultural and media realms very satisfying.
Afterword[7.5]:
Made for very specific audience groups. You have to go in with the right mindset - to simply get entertained, not looking for the bigger picture. If you don't have a strong gut, don't like over the top action or lots of sexual and unnecessary interactions then maybe skip this one. If you are excited though, then sit back and enjoy 13 years of publishing compiled into 383 chapters.

!SPOILER FREE REVIEW!
Prologue:
Right from the get-go, I knew I would like it. It uses a slightly different approach when it comes to the Shounen genre with the female protagonist and all, but nevertheless delivers. Claymore is a solid "veteran" with not the most interesting or original concept, but regardless, one with confidence.
Story[6]:
Having a Shounen base and following the weakest of all, our female protagonist, it was actually relieving to see she didn't explode with power out of nowhere and did struggle a lot. Lot's of cool fights with very good choreography and easy to follow action sequences. Quite a few mysteries and plot twists which
...
is a plus for the shounen nature. The darkish aspect of the story was executed well in a sense. However, the biggest issue is the pacing. Some declare it's serving the slow and dragged out treatment, I daresay the opposite. For me, a lot of moments concerning characters just felt rushed and were happening too fast. There weren't many if any full chapters or arc/s developing a single character and working on their traits. Some characters were served very undeserved ends. Towards the end, it shifted this mechanic and the story was, in fact, being dragged out.
Art[9]:
Mostly what did it for me was the art. As a big fan of monster design and concept, I was truly captivated by the looks of the monsters but it takes some time to get to the actually good drawings so bear with it for a couple of chapters. Not much to say here other than get ready to be blown away and take your sweet time observing the bodies of the characters. Aside from that, details and backgrounds were done excusable.
Character[6]:
Good development as a whole for most main characters, but because of the horrible pacing, not rarely would you feel weird relating to a certain character/s. Apart from the protagonist if you think too much into it you will realize that something is missing, be it context or time spent on personas. Although there are one or two traits that differentiate the Claymores from one another, be it hairstyle or specialty in combat which was satisfying.
Enjoyment[8]:
Had lots of fun with this manga, even shredded tears every now and then and I was going through pages like a madman, wanting more and more. Was also impressed by some use of more ''expressive words''. Didn't force myself to think too much into some stuff so that I wouldn't find more flaws. I simply rode the wave.
Afterword [7.3/10]:
If you like action, shounen with mixed in mysteries, some softcore gore or especially monsters/monster fights involved, go ahead and read this, you won't be disappointed I guarantee! Just start reading and as you go don't try to analyze or theorize a lot of stuff and you will be more than satisfied. Definitely recommended!

Oh hello there!
This is Tokyo Ghoul:re the continuation of Tokyo Ghoul! What surprises does it bring?
[Story-9/10]
For those who may have been slightly or majorly disappointed with Tokyo Ghoul's ending, here you shall go through catharsis and be completely healed! The story continues after some time when the first left of and things can be pretty confusing. New setting, new characters and goals. What happened? Its just part of the beauty of TG, everything is vague and is yet to be unveiled by you. Many more mysteries to uncover, motives to discuss and of course outcome to see. Gradually things built up one after another
...
and everything starts to make more and more sense. Literally like a puzzle, you are collecting fragments for the final picture and this time the more you collect the more you have to do again afterwards. While it may not have as much symbolism as in the first one it is still one of a kind.
[Art-10/10]
Not much to say apart from the notice that drawings have improved by a good bit, if I may from a great spectacle to perfection! The smoothness in detail and contrast in setting is just filling with fervour and admiration.
[Characters-10/10]
This time around we have yet even more characters with different goals and dreams in mind. Each one once again let on the main stage with highlights - backstories done in order of importance and development of the MC and those who surround him is safe to say is 2x more than before. Both physical and mental changes ( negative and positive ) occur, some relationships are nourished to blossom others are destroyed.
[Enjoyment-10/10]
Even though this part is judged as inferior to the first one I enjoyed it much more, perhaps because of the way that the MC and his close ones were treated as well as the ending which this time around is the exact opposite of Tokyo Ghoul - it's bright!
[Overall-9.8/10]
You fell in love with this tragic piece of art and you long-awaited reunion with true happiness is here!

Tokyo Ghoul - truly a masterpiece!
It's safe to say this is one of the best manga out there. And for good reasons too!
[Story-10/10]
While it can start a little slow or not have the most original concept at first look it definitely picks up after a while. The story is executed in such an interesting way that it surely catches up to you. These monsters or ghouls - Where did they come from? Can they really be stopped? Is anyone among us one of them craving for human flesh? There are 4 types of these monsters each with their special traits, strong and weak points. But
...
is that all there is to ghouls? No! There is much more to be explored! Of course, apart from ghouls alone, there are some countermeasures created from the human point of view and with time passing each side adapts to one another trying to overwhelm the other. Keep in mind there is really deep symbolism throughout the story but even if you don't get or don't bother to go and see what people have dug out you will still find yourself on one of a lifetime ride!
[Art-9/10]
Sui Ishida apart from being a ''genius'' he is also exceptional with his drawings. Really refined to almost perfection details. Fighting scenes are done really well and easy to understand (but they themselves are usually not that simple). Beautiful expressions on characters as well as setting and atmosphere. You just can't get enough of this ''cleansing'' art style of his. It's so reassuring and bone-chilling (when the time calls of course). You will get used to it and even more so with pleasure, you will continue to compare in the future with different art styles just because this one left a really good impression.
[Characters-9/10]
While some people may have problems with Kaneki Ken at the beginning he is much more than a shy, enclosed, smart and kind personality. There is a tremendous amount of character development in this series not only to the MC but to pretty much all even moderately relevant characters. And like I said even though Ken may look simple and flat at the beginning he is much more than that - without a doubt a tragically philosophical persona. You will see for yourself and begin to love even vice-versa opposing characters. There will be laughter, smiles and cries reacting to the characters and their growth. You will see characters pass by and away and come back later to which your heart would skip a beat.
[Enjoyment-10/10]
This being one of the first manga that I've ever read and the first one ever to reread because of various reasons, I can safely say that I cried, laughed, trembled and thought through all of it or in other words I enjoyed it to my heart's content. When it comes down to it in my neutral opinion there could be some really minor improvements which are only an existing matter because of the thing called experience and once again it is all relative, but my biased and honest opinion is that this manga was, is and will remain of my favourites till death!
[Overall-9.6/10]
You looking for a terrifying seinen with a lot of symbolism and major character development, a heart-throbbing action and tragic outcomes? Go read Tokyo Ghoul and you will not be disappointed.
See ya in Tokyo Ghoul:re!
