That is a fair criticism, the story was nothing special, so I think what gets it the high rating is how it executed its romance to a lot of people, they saw a blossoming adolescent romance that was so pure and sweet that it really made people just drown in the ecstasy of it all. But yes as you said, it's all up to the person watching, some won't get caught up in the ecstasy and will look at it differently.

Well then I guess our opinions differ on it on a rather basic level. I found the story to be, while nothing new in terms of character, themes, or writing, executed in a masterful way. Because while originality is important, it can still be dog shit in terms of the three aspects I listed above, especially in writing. Because I'd love if TgK took place in a different environment, one that is unique or done in a different take, or even with more 'interesting' characters, but what we were given was executed in such a way that truly makes the humility and reliability of our main characters shine and their love really blossom. Also as someone who was seen quite a lot of romance shows, considering they are one of my two favorite genres, there's a lot of shit out there that goes for the same story and fails in terms of execution or has an original take yet falls flat somewhere along the line. It's the simple things that are all you need sometimes.

I'm a bit confused with your review on Tsuki, you mention the cliched part of two people meeting and instantly being drawn to you but is that not the same case with shows you have rated much higher such as Rakudai and Guilty Crown, so how do those do it better in your eyes?

I watched it twice in dub and sub so yea sub is slightly better but it's up to you.

I just read ur Itazura na Kiss review I am glad to see someone who enjoyed it as i did I believe it is one of the most complete romance anime Clannad was better i will give u that but it is in the same league as Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo the animation for Itazura na Kiss was lacking in its own right but at the same time it had a charm that some anime fail to achieve even with good animation.... overall Itazura na Kiss was well worth the time of watching it n i have rewatched it like twice already but i havent gotten around to watching Sakurasou more then once I need to get my on-hold list smaller before i rewatch anime at the moment but yes Itazura na Kiss was a really good anime that didnt feel like there was much that could be done after.
