Okay everything for this anime is great except the characters and their development and a bit of the story.

So to begin I'll review this not as a competitor for top series but as a review of the anime itself. Some people may say that this series is somewhat "milking" the consumers but in all honesty to me its just people looking at things from a narrow perspective if that is all one has to say.

The anime does not do sins on shoving up fanservice to make big bucks but instead parodies it, if you actually know how to critique anime then you'd realize that fanservice ... usually is given in a seriously comedic tone. Instead of small accident types or inserts here and there, fanservice was placed in times where it could be made of and the fact that it should not have happened or other times forced is emphasized for comedic effect.

Another sin that this anime does not do is to make it generic, instead you find a lot of scenes where the characters literally parody famous scenes or lines from more famous anime. Moreover generic plotlines are made fun of, the characters act in a comedic way, battles for example are prolonged or forced to go through stupid long sequences for the characters to make it shounen. But this was deliberate by the characters because of their desire to make it that way, of course we have a straight man (the MC) who calls them out in a boke manner for comedic effect.

If you haven't caught on this is a boke themed comedy, making it all serious is basically just showing how narrow your thinking on media is. To be fair I get it that your taste may not match with this anime but at least know what your getting into before watching it and criticizing the series. The series didn't market itself as some top grade, serious shounen with tear jerking romance and drama between an human and alien. It literally markets itself as a comedic show about how a human is shoved into a crazy life surrounded by aliens, moreover the fanservice is not even on the level of To Love Ru where nudity occurs ever scene for comedy, the fanservice scenes in this anime is timed and well executed and not done by pure lucky pervert.

Now onto the sins of the story which are mainly - forced character development and plot.

So okay, as great as the series is, I haven't read the LN and only watched and reawatched the anime tons of times but I quite frankly dislike the overarching plot of making the MC accept FL.

This may become less objective at this point but I'll try my best, so for the character development, most series that did this kind of story great would make the main theme be the comedy. This series did that but kind of overdid things when they headed for the slow development of feelings. The problem was not the goal but the method, here the problem lies in the MC. His base character was great but then in many parts of the story he failed in making great comedic lines because drama or relationship developments had to be made.

This happens for most of the latter half of the anime, comedic plot lines are lost because of forced drama which were not properly timed thus the intended drama looked cringe at best crappy at worst. The atmosphere- basically the whole scene was just turned from a comedy fest to this weird minute of serious drama which at times is nicely wrapped up by a final meme comedic twist which worked out 70% of the time but in some it just didn't work out.

It may be hard to understand but you'll feel it when you get to the latter half of the anime.

The other sin of character development was kinda tackled already but to simplify it the main issue is basically the MC. His whole character is messy to say the least. All other characters had a great foundation and since this is a boke-comedy themed anime slow or almost zero character development is expected.

But the MC is weak point in this as nothing would want you to continue watching with an MC who's just the straight man of the group which is bad because most of the time straight men are- well- side characters.

The character development of the MC is a great way to keep people watching but the drama based development was just- well BAD. ESPECIALLY THE LAST TWO EPISODES - that should still be good.

Anyway, the series is great overall, which is telling because some series would become dumpster fire with an MC like this series has but the comedy the other characters bring with just makes the series enjoyable save for small bits where the MC is the focus.

I've read the raws up to 22, this review was made for two purposes, first to review it but second I hope some kind soul would lead me to the raws up to ch. 57.

Now to the review, overall this manga is great. The story is heartwarming, depressing with a touch of comedy. The characters are well done at least up to what I have read and for now I could see a lot of potential.

Art, the art is well, what you'd expect from Shinobi I guess, the art has his typical style. It looks not as good as other manga out there but I ... score it high simply because of it's consistency. The art doesn't change much for a short manga despite not being the best it at least doesn't make weird mistakes like randomly bloated chines or weirdly drawn body parts.

The characters are all relatable, of course there would be some extreme things that only happen in manga but that is part of the charm. This manga made me cry, laugh and depressed all at the same time not only because of the story but also because of the characters.

Enjoyment is well 8, its not the best but for a 4 koma it has great quality and if I could I would want to purchase the rest of the volumes- unfortunately I'm neither in Japan nor have the capacity to buy it.

Overall the manga is a great read, though I have to insert it here, the manga gave me a weird almost barakamon but not vibe I dunno if it was just me but even then it was still a great read.

I'll cut to the chase, don't read this unless you just want to waste some time.

Story 3/10:

Interesting premise, great start but poor execution and the story was extremely rushed and unplanned. To avoid spoilers I'll point out one main problem I found annoying about the story, the plot twist - the idea was good and could have done better but the execution was too rushed and instead of readers being amazed the twists in the story were well generic if I'm being kind but dumpster fire if I'm being honest. There were no hints and the twist makes certain characters just have a complete 180, ... everything was explained through some- well story based shenanigans which if I'm being honest got more crazy as holes were being filled. I am a fan of plot twist but it will only be a great plot twist if it was executed in a planned manner, else like what happened in this story we are put in a roller coaster of every chapter after the twist being just an endless dump of random acts and events just to make the initial twist work. What I'm getting at here is that at one point in the later parts of the story things pick up, a twist occurs and from there on we see nothing but endless mindfuck to the point that you just don't care about the story anymore.

Art 5/10:

This is more simple, the art was great but there were many backgrounds and even panels that were, lazily if not drawn in a rush. The story was not the only thing being rushed it seems as the quality of art was slowly decreasing the closer you get to the ending. White spaces become more prevalent but are made "part" of the scene through simply "plot" reasons. This is not adding to the issues of details that create depth being lost the closer you are to the last chapters. Overall good start but rushed at the end.

Character 3/10:

If not for the fact that early on in the series characters had depth this would have been a big fat 1 or zero if possible. The issue is not about being cardboard cutouts of other manga even. The main issue is that characters had decent depth and personality but plot twist occur and every fleshed out character just losses all the development and is instead twisted to being unrecognizable. Imagine it like this, what if in Naruto, Madara was not fooled by Zetsu to become a vessel for Kaguya's revival, instead Madara was literally Kaguya all along and all she was aiming for was to turn her reincarnated male body into a female one before doing her big plan. Yeah lots of plot holes but that's what happens to the characters in this story, EVEN THE MC mind you.

Enjoyment 4/10:

Still enjoyed it a bit, up to the chapter 25 or something it was still tolerable and interesting but after that all hell broke loose as mind fuck after mindfuck happens. Not because the story is complex but because it was almost being retconned every other chapter that it almost didn't seem like the same story it was up to chapter 25.

Overall 4/10:

Not the best, not average but still a pretty decent manga. It has some good points but overall its more like a testbed or rookie manga than anything.

This manga is a romcom which does what most other romcoms fail to do, which is making a lighthearted story.

Romantic Comedies were made with the specific two genre's in mind so when reading a "Romantic Comedy" people would expect to read a lighthearted comedy with a mix of romance or the other way around. Now to the explanation of the scores.

Story is not that deep and should be that way given my previous statement and because there was no drama in the tags. Don't force drama where it should not even exist.

Art, generic at best not that new or particularly stand out.

Character, again generic, does ... not create anything new in the genre.

Enjoyment though is something is honestly a 10, I dunno about other people but reading a lighthearted comedy without worry of dark drama in the background especially when it wasn't even to be expected. I mean twist are good here and there but when a story is not aiming for thing like drama etc. why even add it?

Overall, a story does not need to have a manga or any form of entertainment does not need a big story or great dramatic twist to make it great. As long as it does what it aims to do then it is enjoyable.

Will recommend to people who just want to enjoy a lighthearted story, if you want complex stories with many twist and turns just don't search romcom and search drama instead. Don't look for things in places where it obviously wouldn't be in - just saying

okay my first time writing a review and all I want to put here is that this anime is not one that you watch to potentially experience a great series.

This anime, if anything is more of a release from boredom. Now the plot is all the same with the OP MC in another world the thing is, this anime took it to the extreme. So you never have that feeling MC will lose or MC will suffer, but this also gives you a perpetual light feeling while watching.

Character development is basically nil and story or plot progression is basic and sometimes even forced. But as ... most of the time you just feel like your watching a joyful adventure it should not even be noticed unless what you want is something stimulating.

Sound is basic isekai themed but more so it has a continuous lighthearted tune to it so if you immerse yourself not looking for stimuli you will be able to enjoy the series. Art style is not that good even at 1080p it still feels underwhelming and all action scenes lack any form of realism, other series would make you feel the emotion in fights but watching this anime it feels like you are watching a games action scenes.

But aside from all those the biggest sin that this anime has is that it's feels like it skipped a lot of things. From episode one to episode three no even to episode 12 you fell like the story progressed at an extremely rapid pace. Which is mostly done through the MC getting items or abilities from out of nowhere or like some form of development occurred in between episodes that you know nothing of.

Overall it is an enjoyable watch if you watch it to see an OP protagonist have an enjoyable time in another world with the occasional fight at the side. If you want to get some release from high tension anime filled with war, blood, gore, drama all those kinds of stimuli watch this to freshen up that is what this series basically is.
