Story [6/10]: Honestly, it was a bit messy. The story did pull me in but then it just got... messy towards episode 14. Though, it is unique because it is about a circus and it has its whole storyline plotted out and, even with the characters. Though, with the characters, everything felt rushed and squishy. By the time that some parts just didn't make sense anymore to follow along with, I have put on-hold the show at episode 16. Perhaps I am missing out but with this time, perhaps reading the manga will do some better good about how the story is with Karakuri Circus.
...
Art [6/10]: The art feels a bit old-school or a bit CGI but then again, it is a feeling that as if I just stumbled upon a Naruto, or Bleach, or even Zatch Bell --- a type of show. What I mean by that is that when first watching those shows, getting the excitement that the show can be one-of-its-own-kind for which I find in Karakuri Circus. Throughout some parts though, it did bother me that there were some mishaps that I actually did catch of the frames glitching out or not being complete. Especially in the fight scenes. Don't really know how to describe it but with that, that was one of the art issues that bothered me. Especially with blood scenes or type of stuff like that. It was weak but overall, story saves it.
Sound [6/10]: Aha, its laughable that sometimes the mouth movements do not match the voice. The opening and ending songs though were really nice. But then again, speaking about sound, eh. I did not have any such issues with what I listened to. Track was ok.
Character [6/10]: Ah, this was very messy. Perhaps better in the manga. Like I said, a squishy congested bunch of characters. You wonder why the creators would do such a thing to them. They tried in telling every character's backstory that it got kind of annoying and to the point that it was just rushed. It could have gone better, honestly. The characters are lovable though. So loveable that I cry because it is frustrating to watch their development. Perhaps its just part of life to watch characters go through pain, huh. And to add, I think there was a lot of characters to really catch up with. They literally take up one whole episode. But I guess that is what it is in making a manga to Anime and scrunching it up.
Enjoyment [8/10]: This show deserves to be watched or at least trialed. It is just that I cannot continue in this year to watch it any further. I shall return to completing it soon after I heal. I think it comes to 36 episodes in total, but I feel like there's more? To see the finale of the character and stories ending, that is a goal. I will always remember this show as, "The circus and aqua vitae, where martial arts and puppetry play a huge role."
Overall [7/10]: Even though it is just a 7 and not a 10, I would still put this show in my favorites list and recommend it.

I have come back to this two hour movie more than ten times now, trying to understand the movie as a whole. I first came across the movie as "The Empire of Corpses" and I dare say that my brain burns from trying to understand from scene to scene. Probably thinking that it is just me that does not understand, but man, I give the show a nine overall. Watching it more, I changed it to a ten.
Alrighty! So starting off with the story:
RATE: 8
The story seen as a whole is great but then watching from beginning to end is a brain exercise.
...
Perhaps it is a challenge of intellect. In the beginning, a brief idea is told to the fourth wall about the empire of corpses. I would presume because, by giving a brief intro, the info gave light to what exactly am I supposed to hope of what happens and happened. The story starts off with keying in on the main character (Watson) bringing back his valuable research to light called Friday. It is hinted later on about why Friday is valuable and what exactly is the point of the story of Dr. Watson! Sci-Fi is huge in this very aspect because of the journey that Dr. Watson was 'fated' to have since the very beginning of his research and experiments. The journey is built off of Frankenstein's story and I believe was inputted into finding the theories of life through The Empire of Corpses (corpses and souls). Basically, the story is filled with one man's theory and his journey to set things straight (a journey of truth). Flashbacks in the story jumps around a lot and takes its time so that might be a reason why some parts of the story were hard to keep up with. At times, "what the hell is going on?!" because it is like watching one of those very old video tape shows that go on without sounds but only sound effects.
Art
RATE: 9
The Empire of Corpses deserves a nine in art because it is a beautiful animation and why I have sufficed in re-watching more than ten times. Movements and scenes are vivid to me. The colors that are used is monochromatic at most and produces a strong stench of reality. Why do I say strong stench? Well, the show has blood, definitely. And if you ever get that feeling that you see or smell something in the air that so much is happening. Aha, more likely a feeling but the touch of reality is what gets me going. Not really slice-of-life but the art touches a lot with of how the scenes are to be interpreted. Even in the background, there are many things going on. All what more else I can say about the art is that it is terror, emphasis, and hope. That is what I saw throughout watching.
Sound
RATE: 8
Sounds went well with the story because I felt it was befitting due to the sadness and terrors of death and adventure.
Character
RATE: 7
The characters were a surprise and seem to have no point yet, its an anime, so it has to be somewhere. But between that somewhere, the characters seems to be poorly brought up because of lack in understanding what goes on quick enough in the story. The design of the characters seem fairly well though too, I would say Friday is my favorite because he is a key point of understanding the show. Rewatching makes me feel for Friday because the movie is truly beautiful (if you are philosophical enough to understand). The characters themselves hold a lot of questions.
Enjoyment
RATE: 6
Eh. It was only finely fair. This is because of trying to understand so much, it kind of killed the enjoyment and yet it is great to rewatch and decipher what the empire of corpses is trying to say. The Empire of Corpses seemed slow at first but the interesting characters were able to bring in heat of war and scientific research. I liked that. And yet, just a 6.
Overall
RATE: 10
Personally, now, the movie seems outstanding because watching the show open minded, it provides a lot of opportunities to really think and admire of what is going on and how the connections between characters unfold. Also, watch the ending credits! It has more good info that some people tend to skip. Every piece of the show is valuable towards understanding it.

So this has took me five years to actually finish the show Black Rock Shooter despite it being only eight episodes. Back then, I just couldn't bring myself to watch the dullness of the show's entirety. Reason's to watch, Hatsune Miku and because it's Anime. When I tried the first episode, the show didn't really have a place and I was looking forward to Miku (but there was no Miku except the opening song). I guess we can say that for some viewers, I feel that Miku overshadows the Anime for some folks (like me). At another point, the song created the Anime and the
...
Anime made the song (more alive in a certain perspective.) The whole confuses me when trying to go back and forth from what is what but here we go:
"Miku. Is. Not. Black rock shooter. THEY ARE NOT RELATED IN ANY WAY. Black Rock Shooter is an anime. Miku just sang the opening. HUKE created BLack Rock Shooter, and someone, inspired by the picture, created a song for her. Once again. BLACK ROCK SHOOTER. IS NOT. MIKU."
Now that I am back and I successfully watched the entirety of Black Rock Shooter (TV), the show isn't that bad. Just overall (7/10) because of the dullness. Like, I can't really describe it but I would give it a 9/10 but then the show didn't reach my reasoning and the only word that I can think of after finishing it is 'dull'.
There are parts that are lovely in the story line. Although they just kept mashing into a wall that built frustration within' me about the connection between the girls of trying to attain "friendship is real" and "what exactly are they trying to do here?" It was like a prolonging of trying to get a sense of reality but at the same time to point out between the action to drama (which I didn't really mind) but it just took a long time to get to the point for eight episodes. To compare this anime, I would compare it to "A Silent Voice" because of how annoying the characters are and all the background stories of each character. Though, A Silent Voice (the anime if you haven't seen it yet) is a much better show and more heartfelt. The heartfelt part of BRS is how real the character's emotions are even if they are a bit wonky.
What sticks out to me most is how there is a solid "an internal conflict of fighting your own war" and "you are not alone." I say it is solid because that frustration that I felt is because I can't understand why do these characters seem like a bunch of idiots that can't get their shit together. Besides that, there also comes in the what I would call 'supernatural/fantasy world' of the BRS that is what makes the Anime seem like a joke because the BRS world is in CGI and gradually the show feels like "Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica." They didn't put in much scenes of the BRS magical world. To put it this way, if you haven't seen the show yet, they have two different worlds where it was built with belief. I think of the belief as a gathering of energy to create more energy of a certain type of energy. That is how I believe that the intentions worked it's way in the story to create that world. By the eighth episode, things were pieced together and it was just an "ohhh" type of moment and a bit of "ouu" because of how it ended with the break off between the two worlds. I mean, it didn't really break off but the solution to all that happened from episode one is finally over with' having to involve to the build up of about six characters internal conflicts being pieced.
Overall, what I remember is that there are some psychological torture(drama), supernatural appearances, school-life, slice of life. Let's be honest, BRS is a pretty great slice of life. Slice of life because that is how life is sometimes for some folks in real life. Pretty dull. And at most, people do the most questionable things which is why when a mind is broken, things are dragged out for humanity. The psychological torture that came with it is that part that dragged about the story, I feel. Like, shit went down the gutter. :) But that is what made the story to what it is. So, it's great to pick at and wonder what is life!
To me personally, listening to Supercell's song Black Rock Shooter, I can see how thing's came about. As to the two different worlds and internal conflict. The conflict is one of the same, for it is pain. While the two different worlds could be like a connection of the song and the listener. Where if you listen to Vocaloid and the song meaning, they took the meaning of Black Rock Shooter as a savior to those certain people (girls). And hilariously what got me most and is probably off topic but the show reminds me about a girl that is on her time of the month and just how girls live in general. Life can be hectic but right, that doesn't mean to give up or look down. Anyways, back to topic, BRS being the savior it is whether in song or Anime, it conveyed 'saving' and 'loving' that "I don't want you to hurt" and "let us aim for the stars!"
This is my first written review and I'll come back to add more, if so?
