I found the main girl to be similar in these two. While the stories are a little different, there are certainly elements which remain the same. Both follow the story of a hopeful girl who, despite all hardships, does her best to smile and fulfil a dream. Both are later "rescued" (depending on how you interpret it) and so the stories begin.

Another great story from the same author, although FY's story is founded more on a fantasy basis. FY has less horror, more humour and a lighter tone generally, but the love plots in Watase's works are similar enough. I preferred FY by far, but both mangas are worth a read.

Both of these movies are highly artistic and thoughtful. They both share the same astounding animation and make enchanting stories. The Place Promised is longer, and more complex for it. Another incredible movie!

Another Ghibli movie, this one holds the same charms. When I watched Castle of Cagliostro I couldn't help but think of moments in Laputa; they felt fairly linked in parts. If you enjoyed this one, watch Laputa, without a doubt!

Since they share some similar elements, and are about similar main characters, anyone who likes AMG should certainly try out Chobits. I found that Ah! My Goddess, Chobits and A.I. Love You all shared the same formula and their characters all shared the same basic qualities. Chobits is perhaps that little bit more enjoyable than A.I. Love You, which is why I'm recommending it before A.I. Try A.I. after. ;)

If you liked the fighting side to InuYasha, you might just like RG Veda. The story is very different but still shares some of the elements which made InuYasha epical.

Another story by Yuu Watase, Absolute Boyfriend shares the same charm as all her novels. Perhaps more closely linked, Imadoki and Zettai Kareshi both tell stories of young girls who live alone and find themselves frowned upon by the others at school, yet still they manage to smile and stay friendly. If you liked Imadoki, I'd certainly recommend this. It has the same qualities, and so much more!

I read A.I after reading Chobits and the number of parallels in the story was interesting. I found these two stories appeared to have almost identical ideas. The story of Chobits, however, is perhaps that little bit deeper and that little bit more thought-provoking; if you enjoyed A.I. for it's humor alone, you might not enjoy this so much. The main character is much like the one in Chobits; hopeless with girls and slightly shy about his sexual drive (it's very true). The female is just as hopelessly sweet and clueless. The later additions to the cast made for some comical moments not found within Chobits, but if the meaningful side of the plot, and the interesting ideas of A.Is interested you, pick up volume 1 of Chobits and see what you think!

By the same author, it holds the same charms, style and has another incredible story. The characters are just as inspiring. While the story is fantasy, everyone is just as believable. FY was, in fact, my introduction to Watase. Warning: Only books 1-13 are really really good. 14-18 aren't so.
