Too much ecchi, but there's an uncensored version so maybe I should call it hentai. I love this anime for one key reason, it is perhaps the only show to not get preachy about revenge and instead fully embraces it. The Irregular at Magic High did it a few times, but this show lives and dies by it.

The anime is so dark, but it's necessary to give credence to the vengence. Nor is it just the MC, but his allies and many of his enemies seek it out. I freaking love that!

Still, despite me giving a 9 to the: story, art, sound, character, and ... enjoyment, I had to knock a point off for the hentai.

Latina may be the most adorable character in anime. The entire show gets me right in the feels and the episodes seem to be over in a flash. Although this falls under the Isekai genre, it is quite unique. Unlike Goblin Slayer and Shield Hero, which are unique in their dark realism, this one is special through its relatively mundane plot. Don't take that as a con, but a pro. Instead of epic action it is extraordinarily wholesome.

I would say a 9 out of 10, but I like to save those for something with a bit more flare. Still ... this is a solid 8 due to the good plot and excellent character development. Frankly, there is not a single trope character, even the minor characters feel authentic. I'd say the two main characters are the most trope-like (perfect daughter and doting 'father'), but they play off each other well to add humor without it feeling forced.

It started out okay. It is probably most similar to The Irregular at Magic High since it has an OP main character that can behave cruelly when the situation calls for it. For the first few episodes I thought it was good, definitely no masterpiece as it's a knockoff of much better anime, but still good for the season. The middle struggled some and the ending was trash. Without giving spoilers, the big final battle spent more time having some less than minor characters sing than actually showing the fight. The final episode was so bad I downgraded my opinion from a bad 8 to ... it barely managing to get a 7.

Story: 6 - It has one, but it is a very cliche one.
Art: 8 - It has the usual style for this genre, some good effects for the magic, but nothing special
Sound: 7 - I rarely care for music in anime so I judge this one leniently. It didn't have anything that ruined it for me until the last couple episodes.
Character: 7 - I like it when an OP character can behave cruelly. Far too often the MC weakness is their excessive compassion. This does not fall into that cliche, but there is almost no character development
Enjoyment: 7 - It had some good episodes that deserved an 8.5 and some that don't even deserve a 7. Overall, I think a 7 is a fair average.

I'm pretty sure the low rating is from people that dropped during the first few episodes. Pet is unique in a world of clones; it develops slowly and the characters are quite deep. For the first 3-4 episodes it was just good enough for me to watch the next episode, but only barely.

I had no idea who the kid from the first scene was, or much of what was happening. There were breadcrumbs here and there, but not enough to have any real sense of who, what, or why. Fortunately, episodes 5-7 have done very good at answering many of my questions without massive ... exposition dumps. The characters backstories are starting to fill-in, all the while new questions are being raised with answers to hopefully come.

I've upgraded my opinion from a 7 to 8, but it's hard to know where it'll settle until this ends. Pet is a dark mystery without being cliche or predictable. It is a mystery because there are many questions that are nearly impossible to predict.

This anime had so much potential; however, I cannot truly enjoy it. The show could have been a solid 9, but there are so many plotholes and corruption I can only give it a 7. Sadly, this is the only anime that I'd give a 7 or better that I had to drop.

With minimum spoilers I'll just say the main character is supposed to be very smart, but in episode 5 he accepts an amendment to his contract that makes my blood boil. This is to be expected of the worst owner ever, but the MC should have told him to bugger off. I managed ... to watch until episode 15, but had to drop with how frustrating it all was.

This is among my favorite anime. I imagine many people would find a variety of faults, mainly it borders on cliche, I love it.

My biggest gripe is they haven't made a second season, but there are rumors it's a work in process so who knows. The characters are somewhat unique, being two halves to a single unbeatable player, but are in line with the protagonist that is impossibly intelligent. On-par with Lelouch or Light Yagami but in a fantasy world. I enjoy how they solve some of the challenges and realize the ultimate nature of the game.

One complaint no one ever seems to mention, in ... the first episode the chess board is backwards (the bottom right square should be white). But I had to rewatch the show many times to notice that.

This is the first anime since Clannad to make me cry. Of course this time I was crying from laughing so hard. I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys fantasy or comedy based anime.

Story (8): The anime has a broad continuing story of "to defeat the demon king" but each episode usually revolves around 1 quest. The quest will usually involve a laughable struggle and a lame, lucky success (lame in their effort, but very enjoyable).

Art (10) and Sound (9): The art, animation, and sound are all first rate

Character (7): This is like a double edged sword, the characters are rather 1-dimensional (except for ... Kazuma). However, each character is so polished in their dimension that its acceptable. Kazuma is a well-rounded character who has normal self-interested desires and reacts appropriately to his idiotic party and the unbalanced nature of the world.

Enjoyment (10): This show is so funny I've cried and even woken my roommate from laughing so hard, and I tend not to like comedy driven animes. However, outside of comedy the show doesn't really shine, the fights aren't spectacular, but to me they are unpredictable; the characters grow as a party, but they stay trapped in their 1-dimension (and Kazuma only grows more frustrated not more developed).

Overall (9): This show is hilarious and does a good job capturing the fantasy world while being unique. I was expecting a rehash of SAO and Log Horizon, but instead I got a comedy, fantasy, "game" anime that shines in its own light for its own reasons.
