In reality the stories are quite different. The bride of the water god is a story that most likely takes place in historic Korea. The female lead also is married to a god, who is a man in a child's body. It's very magical, or fantasy, based. While on the other hand Pellua Iyagi takes place in what seems like in medieval France or England. The female lead is a women born with everything and the male is a count of a foreign country. It is more realistic than the bride of the water god. When reading Pellua Iyagi, I couldn't help but be reminded of The Bride of the Water God. The way the couples treat each other are very similar. More respect than romance. They are both beautiful stories.
