There isn't much to talk about with this... they just added some random Anya clips over a lyric video and declared it as if it was super special, but looks like an edit a young teenager put together for their favourite song... a song that wasn't even that good. It was just Japanglish with repeated Anya scenes and that is all! It is cute but you are basically just listening to a song while rewatching a total of 10 seconds of Anya repetitively.

It isn't a terrible song and I am aware that this isn't supposed to be something high-value or any relevance to the series ... whatsoever, it is just my personal take on it.

There is no intense main plotline and is mostly a comedy slice of life. We follow a socially awkward girl who dreams of being in a band but is too nervous and anxious around people to be able to successfully perform in front of others or even talk to people.


They went hard in the comedy aspect of this series, balancing many different references and art styles, all changing on Bocchi's mood - this made it feel like it flowed very smoothly and more relaxing to watch.


It is a series about a band, so you expect it to have enjoyable music. However, unfortunately... although good, I ... wasn't blown away or given that impactful "WOW" factor that I was hoping for and was a little let down by that.


Hitori Gotou (guitarhero, Bocchi-chan, Mango Mask) is the titular protagonist. She is the guitarist and lyricist of Kessoku Band.

Ryou Yamada (山田 リョウ Yamada Ryō) is the bassist of Kessoku Band who works part-time at STARRY.

Nijika Ijichi (Archangel of Shimokitazawa) is the drummer of Kessoku Band.

Ikuyo Kita (runaway guitarist, Kita Kita) is the guitarist and singer of Kessoku Band.

The story does not properly start until about halfway through the series - but there is one there. The flow generally fits well with an episode-by-episode comedy but does not feel as dramatic as the drama side could have been, which let the show down a little bit. This did not stop the story from being enjoyable to watch, though.


The art style is true to its source and should be appreciated as such. Well-timed comedic effects and smooth animation - it is very clear that effort was put into details... except the food all was TERRIBLY drawn, with a plate of chips in ... one of the episodes looking straight-up photoshopped in, feeling completely out of place.


Most anime singing is music to my ears... this was not - they did well in giving off a maid cafe's performance vibe, but the execution... was not so good. The op and ed were both average, but enjoyable enough


Ranko Mannen - Coming back to Akiba after several years, an older and more experienced-maid.

Nagomi Wahira - A maid-obsessed girl coming to Akiba to fulfill her dream of being the cutest maid she can!

If I were to compare the two seasons overall, I would be more incline to state that this season is worse than the first, but only by a small margin. Honestly, the first half is definitely worse and feels like the main storyline is almost being pushed off. However, I think the second half really brings out the impact I was worried this would not have.


Honestly, it feels like Studio Bones massively improves with every single anime. This art style is beautiful, an improvement on the first season and the characters and scenery all give a very warm feeling. They have also ... definitely improved their animation on rain.


I found that the music was lacking the same impact during this season - almost as if some songs that were not in the original series just felt thrown in/thrown together.


Vanitas (Quack, Kin of the Blue Moon, Vincent, No.69) - The titular protagonist.

If you base this series on the first episode alone, you will consider it to be a childish show with little appeal to anyone who has surpassed their teenage years. However, if you stick with it and approach even the second episode, you are likely to end up how I did, addicted to the plot and its cliffhangers. This is the story of a boy who is committed to proving to everyone, as well as himself, that he is capable of surpassing all expectations and going even further beyond!

This art style threw me off at first as it is very unique - a ... lot of complaints on the series come from it making the series seem more cartoonish than a standard anime series - but I would argue that that in and of itself is intriguing, especially since it is done really well.

I will be VERY surprised if you were to watch this and not recognise any of the voices in this series. Yuki Kaji (Daida) alone has been in a wide range of popular anime and games and you can really tell how much he has improved and experienced over the years. This, alongside the music, allows the overall aesthetic of the series to appear notches above many other new series.

The plot of Spy x Family feels very unique and, in its own way, like a breath of fresh air to the anime community. A lot of recent releases have felt very similar to one another and using the same plot basis as each other and it is just becoming a bit... boring. Although this series can be quite predictable and I have some decently confident predictions about how this series will end, it manages to consistently make me smile without feeling overly repetitive.

The art style is super smooth and fits this show! I love how it doesn't shy away from trying ... new things; a wide spectrum of facial expressions, the intro and outro using several different art styles to combine into one, the movement of vehicles, etc.) It does have the same issue that Attack on Titan had at times where the CGI felt a bit too obvious, though.

The use of jazzy themes have you nodding your head even during the episode, never mind just the op/ed. On top of that, they have a great cast of voice actors who put emotion into their roles; i.e. Yor is voiced by Saori Hayami.

Anya Forger (Test Subject "007", Anya Williams, Anya Levski, Anya Roche, Anya Klein, K-212, Princess Anya, Starlight Anya) - The telepath.
Yor Forger (Yor Briar, Thorn Princess, Mama, Sis) - The assassin (Thorn Princess).
Loid Forger (Twilight, Dr Loid Forger, Papa, Roid, Loi-Loi, Loidy, Loidman, Robert) - The spy (Twilight).

There is a reason that this manga is considered one of the greats... yet I still barely see anybody ever talking about it. I understand that it is not currently releasing chapters and was put on hiatus with no near end in sight, but that does not change how good this manga actually is. I highly recommend this for those interested in action manga - with a splash of comedy and raw emotion, even occasionally filling you with anger at times, this is a series that truly engages the reader and will also teach you quite a lot about Japanese history.

The art style ... sometimes came as a bit of a drawback for me, as there were definitely times when reading this where it just felt like there wasn't as much emotion going into the art style as there was with the story. You can clearly see where Takehiko Inoue was starting to get worn out by his own manga as his art style actually deteriorated a little at times, rather than getting better. It did start to pick back up in more recent issues and some chapters are even more detailed than they were at the beginning it was in no way a bad display, but it just did not feel... as full of life.

Sasaki Kojiro - Known as the "Crazy Tiger from Echizen", he is Musashi Miyamoto's deaf-mute arch-rival and friend.
Matahachi Hon'iden - Musashi Miyamoto's childhood friend and the WORST CHARACTER IN THE ENTIRE DAMN SERIES!

Shikimori is not just a cutie, she is also a girl capable of making a potentially good romance anime into one of the most painful experiences an anime fan can go through. Whilst the series does have its moments that can make you smile through its humour or general story enjoyment, it is so overhyped yet so underwhelming that you will just be in for a massive letdown if you think this is any better than the standard romance revolving around a weak-minded male character struggling to make basic conversation.

This art style is probably the saving grace of this entire series, stopping me from giving ... it an even lower school. It is clear that a lot of effort and love went into making this series and the animators did a very good job, especially considering the dull story they had to work with.

The voice acting wasn't terrible but wasn't particularly spectacular either... apart from Shuu's voice (Nobuhiko Okamoto) but that is because he is generally just a great performer in every role he plays. The intro is nice and the outro is funny, but neither are the type to prompt you to look them up on YouTube and listen to them in your spare time.

Shikimori (Micchon, Mi-chan) - The main female protagonist and the girlfriend of Yuu Izumi.
Yuu Izumi (Ijumi) - The main male protagonist and the boyfriend of Shikimori.

This serves as an interlude special between Stone Wars and New World and feels more like a movie than a normal special - but it feels like people may skip this and go straight to New World from Stone Wars and miss out on important plot points.

The art style appears to be cleaner and an improvement upon the previous series, but... a lot of the characters are made to look very similar, so some are a little bit hard to tell apart at certain angles.

A wider cast of voice actors for this one and I imagine from here on it will grow exponentially - at ... this moment in time, they have a lot of good voice actor choices, but I worry about the budget if this needs to keep up.

This is a recap of the first series and a preview for the second. The recap is read by Olivier up until the preview of the second series, then he stops talking over the video.


Essentially the same art style as before but looks slightly cleaner, showing improvement from the animators, rather than a typical regression that a lot of series face.


They reused all of the sound effects and music from the first series with little to no alteration. The only difference seemed to be different voiceover lines.
