This... this is HOW an adaptation for Azur Lane should be done. Just CGDCT.
I mean sure, warships. But AL isn't about that, it's about the fanservice and just collecting cute girls who are loosely warships. The story in the game, in a series of events, is already FAR FAR BETTER than the disaster that is Biburylane. The in-game storyline makes a lot more sense from a lore standpoint.
Bisoku Zenshin isn't that though, it's just the main starters (including Nimi/Z23, YEY) exploring the port. If this was the Biburylane story, I'd be totally okay with it. Although, the OP for that anime is pretty good not
...
gonna lie.
Go watch this instead of the Biburylane. The story of that anime is non-canon anyway.

Bibury's first anime adaptation, and their first project overall. Well, certainly they're not going to get the best first impressions if people found out. Heck, even the publishers, Yostar, want to forget this entire anime happened in the first place.
The animation is terrible, the character designs are weirdly uncanny, and the story is all over the place. Are you trying to go for the story between our starters or are you going with the lore Enterprise describes? I also dislike the terrible lighting. It's too bright for me to watch.
Everyone in this anime probably except Vestal and Belfast, is out of character. Enterprise is too
...
edgy and "we're machines" BS. That's something Bismarck would say, or Enterprise META (if you played the game, you know where I'm coming from). Forcing the yurification between Belfast and Enty might be sweet at first but it just gets on the nose later on.
Unsurprisingly, the best part about this adaptation is the fanservice, which is episode 6. We got a few memes here and there, as well as Sandy. I appreciate the effort of Bibury trying to get every character in the scene as much as possible but I think they faltered after episode 3. That's the part where I think Yostar got disappointed and just asked them to finish the anime as soon as we can. So, later episodes felt rushed and the story was just cluttered.
Despite that, I do like the model ships. They at least took the effort in making them realistic. I also enjoyed the fighting sequences. The plot and story? Not so much, it feels out-of-field from what the game established.
Also, why does Nimi have so low appearances? Her screen time is just pretty low when she is a main character in the game and one of the starters? The last episode showed a glimpse of Bismarck, hinting at a possible Season 2. Heh, they wish. Bibury is probably glad this is all over.
Just play the game or watch Bishoku Zenshin instead. It's much more calming and closer to what the game actually is.

Normally when I make reviews, there would be spoilers. However, I'll try to make it close to spoiler-free (No guarantees though).
What interested me about this anime is probably the poster, as well as the overall plot description. When I saw it's about a mangaka taking care of his young siblings after their parents died, I got hooked because I was expecting a tragedy anime, similar to how I feel about Violet Evergarden.
When I finally saw it. It's apparently a wholesome anime. I was already confused by that. I did still enjoy it nonetheless because I like feel-good stories and the poster alone somewhat tells me
...
that this anime would be dramatic, enough to make me cry.
Alas... this is why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. The plot is basically about a princess from another dimension (like Star from SVTFOE) who leaves her home because she doesn't like being treated as a princess. Meanwhile, she was hired by a mangaka and saw how great her manga potential was, despite only knowing about it within one year.
I really wish that they didn't confess early on as it feels like they're forcing a romantic relationship instead of slowly and surely developing it. The plot is all over the place and it feels like the female lead, Goishiki, and the male lead are forced to be in love just so the anime can say they are in love. I like the awkward dates and the mature feel though because that feels realistic in a real-life first date scenario.
Overall, I wish this was more tragic than it is wholesome so we could actually get a decent story. If you like a story like this, go check out Tonikawa instead

Three episodes in currently and here go my preliminary review. Here we go.
This is a type of anime that you should not judge a book by its cover. The first episode already showed some... questionable content but the further the story progressed, you'll soon come to identify that the story is less about fan service and more about sibling relationships, and I like how it shows the advantages and disadvantages of a female body without making it too lewd.
Episode 2 uncensored is unwatchable for at least the first quarter of the episode. However, if you get past that, the story slowly switched from a fan
...
service type to a wholesome anime. I never expected that.
This may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I personally like genderbent shows. And this one showed that somewhat more realistically, of course, not fully because it's still an anime and a comedy that goes over-the-top.
As for the animation, well it's Bind. They are great for what they do. The artstyle resembles heavily that of Aharen is Indecephirable and knowing that anime has little to no fan service, that's gonna be hard to think about.
By the way, I have not seen the manga and from what I heard, it's far less sexualized and more wholesome. I wonder what the author is thinking about the anime. I really wish it focused less on the fanservice cause it's not needed and it can get pretty uncomfortable watching this

When I first saw this, I was also in the notion that "hey this is like SpyXFamily" especially when they showed Miri with a pistol. If a crossover was possible, please let it happen!
When I finished it, I realized that this is quite distinct. The OP is a bop (ofc, it's Ayase after all) and Kazuki and Rei have great interactions together. I honestly saw Rei as "Assassin Ishigami" because of their similar looks, personalities, and profiles.
This anime is distinct in a way that:
A) It's an original masterpiece by PA Works, like Kongming
B) Miri is an even more realistic depiction of a toddler, more realistic
...
than Anya in fact
C) The family dynamic feels more connected than SpyxFamily.
If you're into a realistic family situation, aside from the two parents being assassins, then this is for you. If you prefer something that's more comedic, SpyxFamily.
If anything, this is quite comparable to Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting, another childcare anime involving an assassin and a daughter. Oh, that show also has the "Kazuki" type but Yaeka is an introvert 7-year-old than an extroverted one.
I highly recommend this and not just brush it off as a SpyxFamily clone. That manga/anime did not invent this genre. Despicable Me for example has a similar plot and that was released way earlier. Although I can see this as PA Works cashing in on the popularity of SpyxFamily because it's an original series and it's probably no coincidence BuddyxDaddies was released after SpyxFamily Cour 2 ended.
Also, one last thing, the anime ended the best way possible. With a timeskip. No need for a season 2, an OVA series maybe so we could see Miri's life as a 14-year-old. I did not like the mother though, felt like the pacing was too fast for me to care about her sudden change. "I DON'T WANT ANY CHILDREN" to "I wanna change because I have cancer". There are too few episodes for her to develop well. If this was at least 15 episodes long, it might be enough for Miri's mother to develop her character
