THIS WAS INSANE.
This movie challenges boundaries of our mind, it's written with multiple plot points that make sense, yet I was not able to figure out
any of the answers that were right before my eyes. It has so many cool and interesting concepts that humans cannot know the answer of, not now, not ever. If I were to give an example, this movie feels like what you feel when you try to think how our universe is infinite, and what infinite means. Or what happens when your existence completely disappears, what is nothingness? Yeah, that feeling.
First of all, I'd like to assume all
...
anime enjoyers appreciate art. And believe me when I say this, this movie is a piece of art. From beautiful illustrations to fluid animation, it has everything. Not only that, but the usage of those abstract backgrounds was really annoying in the original series at least for me, but in this movie, it actually became something I appreciated. It was still as chaotic ever, but it was way easier to understand and so much better drafted.
Second is the soundtracks, HOLY S-. I felt like I was listening to a dream. I honestly might have blacked out every time a soundtrack was playing, I genuinely don't know how I was able to keep my focus on the show itself.
And the story? From what I wrote in my first paragraph, you might be guessing what I have to say. But it's so well thought-out and every single decision is so up to debate (in a good way) that I felt like I was not only watching a story unfold but also living in it.
Listen now, I don't know how I went from calling the season "meh, it was good" from forcefully watching this movie and then putting this up there as my favorite movie that I've seen up to date as im writing this (up until 2025) but this movie skyrocketed my thoughts on this franchise as a whole and I can't explain how much I'm excited for the new movie coming out.
Only thing I'm sad about is that not everyone who watches this will be able to comprehend how amazing this movie was. It's a complex one, and I'm sad that I won't be able to share this with everyone.
Absolute cinema, 10/10.

What an absolute banger.
I had immeasurable prejudice against this show, and I usually don't enjoy new-gen stuff. I like most shows I watch, but I can't really say that I enjoyed a comedy show before. This show basically had everything I hated in any form of media and still ended up being in my top shows of all time. I don't want to spoil anything, not that it has too much to spoil anyways but this show is beautifully animated, has unique soundtracks and the visuals are stunning (and yes, visuals are different than animations). It makes you laugh, cry, have fun, get angry, gives
...
you the thrills, action and more, and does it the best way possible. I highly recommend watching it all the way through, as my enjoyment increased every single episode (except for one particular peak episode that cannot be topped, that you'll understand when you get there).
10/10, would watch again (and will).

HEAVY SPOILERS!
I had to let this one sit for a couple of months before writing my opinions because the moment I finished the manga I was not satisfied at all and was disappointed in the ending, however after a little bit of self-reflecting I realized that it's the best way to end a manga and decided that this manga is a masterpiece with absolutely no flaws.
You might be asking, what realization have you come to say this about the ending? Well, it's actually quite simple. If I'm not going to be able to see what they do after the manga ends, I'd rather there be
...
nothing at all? I don't know if this sounds selfish but what made this series special for me wasn't only the conflict and the war, but majority of what hooked me into it was the interactions between the characters and how they live their daily lives. Well sure, the writing is impeccable and outstanding, but it didn't really need to be written this well for me to give this series a 10. Now, if you tell me that they are going to live happily after and everyone will get along, it will not only be cliche but also feel incomplete for me, as I'm not able to see their further interactions with each other. Sure, what Phos has been through is very brutal and heart breaking, but I wouldn't be happy seeing them get along together and have respect and love for Phos after all they did to Phos.
As for the writing, this manga kept me hooked the entire time, making me wonder the answers to very interesting questions, while also using creative ways of foreshadowing throughout the manga.
This is one masterpiece where I cannot say the sentence "I wish I could erase my memories to experience it all over again" because I can't go through the same pain. I'm glad to have enjoyed it once, I don't need to enjoy it again. Thanks for the amazing ride.
Absolutely 10/10.

I think this show is one of those shows that going in blind improves your view of the show. I want to keep this review spoiler-free because of that.
I've only heard good things about this show, and although I didn't anything about the plot, I knew the main concept and what I'm signing up for while starting the show. It drastically lowered my rating on this show. Don't get me wrong, this show is amazing, hence why I recommend it, but I'd be super happy if you stop reading the reviews right here and just start watching it.
This show has some very unique art
...
style, decent animation and good soundtracks. The story is written well and the characters are enjoyable(-ish?).
As long as you don't forget that this is still a shoujo show, and can get used to the unique art style, I guarantee your satisfaction with the show. Enjoy the ride ~

It took me almost an entire year to watch through this 28 episode, short anime. Why have I voted this as a masterpiece you may ask? Because it is. Let's review everything about this show! (No Spoilers)
First of all, this show is not for everyone. It's definitely got a different take as to how an anime is played out and presented to the viewer. It explores different subjects in life and has very positive lessons to learn from. As you probably already have heard, the animation and the art is great. The songs are usually very fitting (I say usually because it's subjective to the
...
viewer in some scenes) to the scenes and the characters are memorable. This show is filled with emotions yet it's not done in a generic way in most cases. There has been multiple scenes where I got goosebumps or suddenly started tearing up even when the show is trying to give me a message and tell me to smile.
Now one thing I really like about this show, is that the characters don't act like they're trying to cast a show, they act more natural and very emotionless at times, of course sometimes it's not realistic but it doesn't have that fake, childish overreactions that you would usually get from other anime characters.
Another thing to note is that this show never keeps things hidden from you. Now I'm sure there is millions of plot points yet to be revealed but most of the time if something is mentioned, it's usually followed by a whole episode dedicated to that topic. Now as a person who likes paying attention to little details and working things out myself, this is not a very good trait, but the upside is when I'm having a conversation with another viewer, they are almost never confused as to what's going on and they completely understand the situation unlike other shows where nobody has a good read on what the show is actually trying to tell you.
I personally dropped this show in the first couple episodes and had trouble connecting with the characters or the story (well, technically they didn't even have characters or a story), but ended up picking it right back up, watching amazing 3-4 episodes back to back, and ended up dropping again because the show changed paces way too many times so my brain couldn't take how slow it got after that much action. I enjoy slow shows, but when you keep switching up the pace, it does lose my interest.
Although this was the case, I knew the show is praised for a reason and I have seen it with my own eyes from the episodes that I have enjoyed to I decided to pick it back up and keep watching. I forced myself to watch around 2 episodes and I suddenly started to get attached to the fantasy world they have built and started to enjoy the show a lot more. Even on episodes where they were basically doing nothing, it was so fun and interesting to watch. Towards the end it started following a little bit more generic anime arc style and introduced new characters, which did make the show a lot more accessible and easier to enjoy.
Is this the best ever anime? No, nothing is. Every anime is subjective, but what I know for a fact is that this show has very small amount of things to hate on (or almost nothing to hate on). Which leaves me with no reason to take off any points off of it. 10/10 show, I recommend everyone to pick it up and stick with it. Take your time if you need, but you will not regret watching the whole thing.
Thank you for reading.

How did this anime, that I have serious complaints about, end up being one of my favourite anime of all time?
I'd like to talk about things that I didn't like first.
Music/OSTs were average. They were not THAT bad but any anime in general usually have pretty sick soundtracks. The music in this show was nothing special, some of them were used in very fitting scenes, however it is nothing to write home about. They were also very overused and felt like they didn't have a large variety of soundtracks (even though their album has so many songs, I'm assuming it's one of those situations
...
where most of the songs are the same with slight differences or different covers).
The CGI was questionable. Some of it was used so well that some CGI looked better than hand drawn animation, but most of them were absolutely there just for the sake of it. If you easily get bothered by CGI, you are going to be in for a ride here because they have so much CGI and some of them are very poorly done as well.
The story was a little meh as well, but there is nothing to criticize there as they were basically following actual myths so the characters and their backstories mostly did line up with the real myths we have (mostly sumerian but there are few others from different places and times as well). Obviously the things that happen are not exactly like the myths as we have couple of characters that shouldn't exist in the same time period, however they were kind of accurate most of the time which was interesting. Definitely felt like the story could've been better, but it's above average with all the basic writing we have nowadays.
Now if I have this many complaints, how can I rate this show so highly?
The 2d animation fight scenes were unparalleled. The art style was very appealing. Overall direction of the show was also very good (camera angles, the way environment was set up, how they presented the scenes etc.).
They had so many characters that I loved, almost entirety of the cast were really cool and interesting. The sound design was really sick (except I would have appreciated if everything wasn't that loud so I could actually crank up the volume and enjoy the music and the conversations as well).
This overall felt like a successful adaptation. I enjoyed every episode and never got bored. They kept surprising me with every epic scene they had.
this show is a 10/10 for me and it's a very hard to hate show even with all the flaws it has. I gurantee your satisfaction and if you walk into it expecting nothing out of it, you're in for a surprise.

Art piece.
I'm not going to lie, I was a little meh about the first two movies (chronologically). I came into this expecting it to have a climax, since that's what fate does most of the times (with earlier movies building up and later ones having a big conclusion). HOWEVER, I was not expecting this at all. Right of the bat, the first half the movie was already a step up to the previous one, I was watching it with a friend and in the first 15 minutes I literally told him "I'm going to give it a 10 without even watching it" and I have
...
never done that with any other show. That being said, I was being a little sarcastic and I did plan on changing my rating after finishing the movie. BUT I DID NOT. I genuinely thought the first half of the movie was it's peak, and I expected one good battle towards the end but oh boy that second half was something else.
I am not over exaggerating when I say this, but after the fights began this movie literally became an art piece. I was so shook that I completely forgot what I was watching and I got that special feeling when you close your eyes and listen to a unique album and imagine things in your head. The things that I was seeing, were completely out of this world and it almost looked imaginary. There was one particular piano OST scene where my eyes started tearing up from pure joy knowing that I was experiencing something different. This is one of those movies where I'd want to erase my memories and experience it for the first time once again.
So as you can tell from the two paragraphs I've written above, my ratings for individual categories would be:
Music 10/10
Art 10/10
Staging and Creative Direction 10/10
HOWEVER, the only thing that holds this movie back is the lack of time they had to build a story that you can relate to.
The story was not bad, and it was pretty easy to understand imo. The only confusing part is caused by how Fate decided to present this series (as this was released after it's sequel). It had pretty amazing and unique characters as any fate series always had, but there was so little time for me to bond with the characters where if one of them achieved something, I would not feel too happy, and if one of them died, I'd still not be sad enough to cry. (And I'm pretty emotional) Also there was one more thing where they literally kept the entire plot hidden from you until the very end so you literally couldn't understand what was going on.
So with all of this in mind I'd give the following ratings to these topics:
Characters 10/10
Story 8/10 (pretty good story, but the plot was revealed at the end meaning that you didn't know what you were working for until you achieved it)
Even with the criticism I've had, this movie was definitely a 10/10 and one of the most unique viewing experiences I've had, and it DESERVES a way higher rating on MAL.

Fate is known and respected by many but even with all the love it gets, I still feel like this show is not praised enough.
From amazing visual effects to incredible animation, everybody is aware that this series is beautiful. However something that's not being talked about enough is how amazing the OSTs are, how good the concept of the show is and how well its written especially compared to other shows that set the bar for "amazing animation". This show doesn't only give you visuals.
The narrative of the story is predictable but has plenty of plot twists, and when I say "predictable" I mean
...
it puts everything in front of your face so you could guess what's about to happen, but there are so many things in plain sight that there is no way you don't miss some. Obviously this is only the part 1 of this season, and most of the reveals are going to be in the part 2 however I can already see where this is going and it is going to be amazing.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not going to tell you that this show is everyone's cup of tea. Most of the characters have some pretty generic traits, which is completely fine with me. Fate feels influential enough to give the benefit of the doubt that they are the ones who made these "generic" traits popular (even if its not for all of them). It also has a dark mood which might not be appealing to everyone. But take it from me, I'm a person who doesn't like many seinen or horror series just because they are dark. With some exceptions, I don't really enjoy watching darker shows. But this show is a lot more "fun" than it looks.
Last thing I want to add is, I always knew I'd love Fate. But I never knew I'd love it to a point where I feel the urge to write a review for it. If you have been considering watching this show for a long time, just do it. You will not regret it. This season is just a beginning of a whole new world for you.

This season got me to buy and read the Light Novels.
And I do not regret it.
As for the adaptation itself, it is missing some important information that is told in the LNs, however the manga also misses quite a bit so it is fair for the anime to follow the manga I guess.
I'm really happy with the quality, the music and the story.
Storywise this season is not everyone's cup of tea since it is not fully action packed, however it is still neccessary for the development of the series.
As for the animation quality, it is not AS GOOD AS the previous seasons,
...
but that's only because it has less action and less sakuga moments compared to them. The important scenes are still very beutifully animated. The only thing is it has a weird grain-like filter to give some sort of an effect which makes the quality look worse but in reality I think it is a nice touch for the environment. I am not entirely sure if the previous seasons had this but I don't think so? (I just checked and it's always been there!)
Overall, I am pretty sure most of the people will enjoy it and maybe some will decide to pick up the manga or the LNs like I did (important note: the manga is not too far ahead of the anime so if you really want to see how the story unfolds you will have to read the light novels or the web novel)

It's going to be a very straightforward review.
FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET:
Will you like it? Probably
Will you regret watching it? Probably not, and you have to watch it to keep up to date with the series.
Is it a step down from season 2? Yes.
Does it deserve some praise? Definitely not.
Pros:
-Good flashbacks
...
-Amazing animation
-Amazing sound design
-Some very well directed moments (Moments that are presented so well that they are a lot more memorable compared to the manga panels)
-Good thrills in certain moments
Cons:
-Story is still very basic
-Mediocre music (re-used style of songs that have worked in the past, but didn't work this time. And honestly, most of them don't even match/fit the scene they're used in.)
-Also some very poorly directed moments (I cannot believe how bad some scenes were presented)
Overall from what I've heard from the manga, this is supposed to be the worst arc of all, so I'm not surprised.
!!SPOILERS!!!
FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEEN IT ALREADY:
What did we just watch? How did they manage to make upper moon demon meeting look this epic in episode 1, introduce them in most craziest way ever possible, only to show us how disappointing number 4 and 5 were.. Like I'm comparing these two demons to gyutaro and I don't know if I'm the crazy one here but did they have the same impact on you??? The first moment where they were pushed away by the fan swing was crazy good, but aside from that, I genuinely have no memorable moments from these fights (at least from the demons, ofc tanjiro and the two hashiras had some good moments still). The entire season could've been 4-5 episodes and we wouldn't lose any lore or quality. There were so many unneccessary moments and I'm not even talking about the filler scenes. Flashbacks were good (normally I don't enjoy them). Last episode was a treat to watch for around 20 minutes and the rest I genuinely don't even remember what happened, it could've been a normal length episode honestly. Nezuko kicking Tanjiro so he could go and save the villagers was a very well directed moment because it was very sudden, the voice actor of Tanjiro did an amazing job (in japanese) to show how undecisive Tanjiro was in that moment, but did they really have to take 2 minutes to show us that nezuko is walking under the sun??? Like as soon as we saw it from her point of view we all knew it was her, but all the hype died by the time tanjiro looked at her. You cannot convince me that it wouldn't have been better if tanjiro remembered nezuko as soon as he cut the demon, and looked over (and we would see this from tanjiro's point of view) only to see nezuko standing there all of a sudden. I've watched so many reaction channels and let me tell you, everybody knows that's nezuko walking, but by the time they show nezuko so much time passes that nobody even cares because they are already arguing about how she can walk under the sun, and their shock is wayy over.
Let me ask all of you a very important question, do you think if any mediocre anime had the production value and visuals of demon slayer, they wouldn't be as popular?
my answer is: of course they would be. Have a nice day :)
