You have to be a fan of Japanese history to really appreciate the humor and jokes.
The plot is simple, Oda Nobunaga is reincarnated as a dog along with his fellow warlords.
There is a plot twist but I won't spoil it, however if you have a keen eye you can figure it out by the 2nd episode.
It's cute. Is it One Piece good? No. Is it a deep plot? No. It's Oda Nobunaga as a dog.
He pees on things, and acts like a dog.
It isn't a masterpiece but it's cute and if you appreciate Japanese history and want to see the
...
famous warlord digging holes or Marie Antoinette as a dog chilling with the Sengoku period warlords...
Well here you go.
I only recommend this if you grasp Japanese history and understand references like the betrayal at Honnouji or Takeda - Kenshin rivalry.
It should've gotten a 2nd season. It isn't bad at all.
There are some plot points that I dont fully grasp, like when the show begins Dog Oda is about a year or two old yet is shocked to find out he is a dog.
We don't see him born or adopted. It just *happens*.
The dogs communicate via telepathy apparently as well. There are a lot of things that don't make sense.
But this is a cute show and made me chuckle a few times. It could've used a larger cast like Tokugawa or Hide but it's fine.
It's just a show about the famous warlord reincarnated as a dog.

If you're looking for more Z or GT type Dragon Ball..look elsewhere
I'm only on the 3rd episode and im not sure I can continue. Dragon Ball Daima takes place after the end of Z but before Super
The plot revolves around Goku and the gang being turned into children via Shannon's wish after the king of the Demon world (not Dabura) sees them as a threat.
This feels more like Dragon Ball then anything. It's more kid friendly then Z or GT.
The violence is heavily toned down and while it isn't TERRIBLE. It's hard to recommend it to a fan of Z or
...
GT.
Only fans of Dragon Ball and hardcore DB fans will enjoy the show.
I'll probably update this review as i watch more.

Despite being a huge Naruto fan, I really didn't like this movie.
The movie is about Naruto and friends having to escort a movie actress + crew to the land of snow for their next movie.
The movie just isn't that interesting. The villains are boring, the land of snow isn't that interesting of a place, there are plot twists but they aren't that mind blowing.
The animation is great however and the fight scenes are pretty good but not even close to manga/tv level crazy.
This movie isn't Canon and some of the stuff such as the movie crew wearing modern day clothing or movies
...
even existing in Naruto's world makes no sense when their society is fairly medieval.
There is also a rivalry with Kakashi and some backstory that again, isn't canon and makes no sense in continuity.
It isn't a bad movie but the later movies are more interesting.
Fun fact: This is also the first and only movie Sasuke is in also. (Pre shippuden) as Shikamaru and Rock Lee replace him in the next 2.

(This review is about the original show NOT Shippuden)
Look, Naruto is an old school masterpiece. It is often what people describe as a "hood classic" Naruto has been cemented as one of the "big 3" alongside One Piece and Bleach
The series has some of the best written characters in all of anime. Every character is memorable.
The story of Naruto is about an orphan named Naruto who wants to become the next Hokage (the leader of his village) and prove to everyone that he can accomplish great things. That's the general concept.
The show has some of the best arcs in all of anime.
...
The mist village arc? Banger. The chunin exams arc? Banger. The 4th hokage arc? Banger.
The animation team was switched during the forest of death arc and nobody seem to notice. That's how good this show is.
The sub and dub are both excellent but the dub is iconic and what everybody grew up watching.
Naruto as a character is somebody we all grew up alongside. To watch him go from a child who struggles fighting his peers to taking on literal Gods is..just such a journey.
Naruto put anime in the mainstream. It is absolutely something people need to watch or at least know about.
You don't have to watch all 200 episodes. You can read the amazing manga, watch the play, or even just watch Naruto explained stuff on YouTube.
Naruto is a classic for a reason.

BlueLock is a gem.
Bluelock is the story of 300 (slightly femboy) soccer players (who are all strikers) put into a building and in the end only 1 can prevail to play for Japan's national team. And if they don't make the cut they're out. For good.
Our main character is a boy named Yoichi Isigai who wants to surpass his limits and become the best.
Im just going to clairify before we continue in case you're lost. This is a sports Shonen. If you don't like Soccer or sports just stop reading .
Like soccer? Or a little bit interested? Let's continue!
The show
...
starts off with an elimination challenge in a room of 12. Then from there the 11 players compete against other teams of 11 until 3 teams remain. Then more stuff happens I won't spoil.
SOME of our characters are:
Isigai: Our protagonist who looks like a femboy but secretly has that dawg in him
Jinpachi Ego: The creator of the BlueLock program who lives on a diet of Ramen noodles with mayo with chili flakes. incredibly intelligent and ruthless.
Chigiri: the most feminine character on the show who is extremely fast. One look at him and you'll question your sexuality. Seriously, I actually thought he was a woman at first.
Barichra: a slightly femboy weirdo who claims to have a monster inside him and likes walking around naked. Very good at dribbling.
Barou: The "king" who is the best waifu and I truly feel sorry for whomever drew him in a maid's outfit. Incredibly aggressive and talented player however.
Nagi: a Killua or Nagito lookalike/clone. He's always bored and sleepy but is incredibly talented with a soccer ball. He is so lazy that he even hates chewing food.
Ikki: a genius strategist who looks like he belongs in a Hentai given how we never see his eyes and how timid he is.
Kuon: Trash.
There's other characters but I don't want to spoil the cast.
So why should you watch this anime? It's full of drama and suspense. Like there's betrayal and their entire careers are on the line. They literally live in a prison like setting and are forced to pick sides.
If I had to compare this anime to others I would say its VERY similar to Rainbow Nisha or even Danganronpa.
I couldn't stop watching this show. I binged it. The sheer amount of suspense and cliffhangers kept me going.
Now I will admit, I like soccer. I'm not a huge fan who watches it daily but I casually enjoy it. I don't know much about it.
This show however was just fantastic to watch. It's hard to describe why but just watching the teams duke it out and seeing who gets eliminated was very exciting to behold.
The sub is how I watched it and the voices were really well done. I can't speak for the dub.
The animation is BEAUTIFUL. It's very fluid and there's moments where it just goes crazy. Theres also some 3D transitions but they're so quick you don't even notice.
I really recommend BlueLock if you're even a little bit interested in sports or soccer. And if you're not..maybe give it a try anyway? It isn't boring at all. It's over the top action and thrilling.
I really enjoyed BlueLock and I hope you will too.

Hell's Paradise is just awesome. Please watch it.
Full disclosure: im also biased because I've read the manga and finished it.
Hell's Paradise is the story of a legendary ninja called Gabimaru the immortal who is sent to this "paradise" along with several other inmates and retainers (who are literally executioners) to find the potion of immortality and in return they get a pardon for their crimes.
The setting? It's in the 1600s. The 1st episode takes place in Japan but the rest take place on the island rumored to be a paradise.
The anime has heavy Chinese influence and Buddhist mythology is also incorporated
...
into it.
The characters besides Gabimaru are prisoners and their retainers as I mentioned, the prisoners are a great swordsman, a massive murderer with the IQ of a rock, a Kunoichi, and several others who may or may not survive the trip. The retainers are a bookworm, a science obsessed dissectist, a blind swordsman and many others who may or may not survive the trip. There is also a heavy focus on the lady executioner who accompanies Gabimaru and her story.
But as I said the main focus is on Gabimaru however several other characters are focused on at parts and their paths intersect (assuming they survive).
There IS death. A lot of it. There are a lot of tragic moments thoughout and in nearly every episode.
Assuming you want to show this to your child remember the name is HELL'S paradise.
There aren't any happy moments. It's constant battle for survival. There might be a FEW (and I do mean few) moments where they laugh but it's very dark.
There are sexual moments and parts with nudity.
But this is a really really good anime (and manga). It has very fluid animation and the voice acting is good.
The plot is entertaining and you'll be kept wondering what will happen next. The character development is also very high and you'll grow to understand why these characters are here. Both the retainers and prisoners.
I doubt anybody will find this boring as it has tons of action but those who prefer a heavy story driven anime will also enjoy it as it's got a compelling story with mystery and intrigue.
Overall I really recommend this anime because it's just great. It's highly entertaining and all of the characters are very well designed.
It might not be for everyone but if you enjoy Ninjas, Feudal Japan and a heavy focus on Chinese/Buddhist mythology then this is for you.

"Finally! An anime for John Wick fans!"
Is how I'd describe Ninja Kamui
Ninja Kamui is a difficult one to describe or recommend however.
It depends what you're interested in, do you like over the top violence or are you looking for a logical story?
If you're looking for any semblance of character development or artistic vision..look elsewhere
...
This is for the John Wick crowd. This is purely a revenge driven anime and nothing more.
The plot revolves around an assassin who is coming home to roost so to speak. He tried to live a normal life but can't and now he has to fight his past and avenge his family
Its just not for me. The animation is superb and the dub cast is good.
But I just couldn't get into it. Theres just too much action and little room to breathe.
There's a sci fi element to it so if you're not a fan of robots or anything SciFi then I would avoid this.
Is it bad? No. As I said the art style is great the animation is fluid and wonderful..there's just nothing really interesting here. It isn't BAD. But comparing something like Ninja Kamui to Naruto or Hell's Paradise..? It's difficult.
For example, the first is aimed at kids but has a heavy story with heavy character development and the 2nd is an action drama with a feudal theme.
Reviewing a modern day sci fi ninja anime with an emphasis on action isn't easy because there isn't much to say compared to the previous suggestions.
The main character Higan wants revenge on his clan for killing his family.
People will give this 10/10 and 9/10 or whatever but won't focus on the story or elements of the said story.
If we rated this purely based on the action it would be 100/100.
But we aren't. When properly reviewing an anime or piece of media we have to take ALL factors into account.
Story? It's a guy going on a rampage to avenge his family.
Character development? None. Protagonist is a broody angry guy. Usually silent.
Entertainment? If you like tons of violence then yeah.
There are moments when the anime TRIES to create a coherent story or get the audience thinking about the plot.
But then it's replaced with violence.
There just isn't much in Ninja Kamui to talk about. It's clearly made for the John Wick audience and that isn't me.
I'm not giving it a 1 because it isn't awful but it's just not something I'd recommend unless you REALLY like John Wick and over the top action/violence.

What happens when the adventure ends? What happens when an Elf doesn't comprehend how short human lives are and wastes 50 years traveling?
That's the question Frieren Journey's end asks. (Minor spoilers ahead)
This is not a comedy. This is not the story of adventurers going to slay the demon king. This is what happens AFTER.
The story of Frieren starts off with the heroes coming back into town 10 years later after killing the demon king and being celebrated, then as they watch a meteor shower that happens every 50 years, Frieren says casually "in 50 years I'll treat you guys to a way
...
better view"
...then 50 years pass and we meet up with the cast again and then..25 years pass..
The cast of Frieren aren't heavily developed. The party members are told though dialogue by other characters and flashbacks. the story focuses on Frieren and how she handles being an Elf who barely ages in a human centered world where aging is common
We aren't centered on the band of adventurers because to the audience, their story is told and their characters written.
There's other characters such as an apprentice Frieren takes on but I won't say anything to avoid spoilers as best as I can.
This..is a very heavy drama. As I said there is very little comedy. It's purely a serious drama. There isn't any action at all. It's a heavy story driven drama. The world is at peace. There are some chuckle or smile worthy moments but it's meant to be taken seriously.
The animation is fine in art design, it's very colorful and animated. Animation itself is fine, it isn't an action heavy drama so it runs slower then normal animes.
The music and sound (dub) is good. There's moments where time just passes and music plays.
You'll see death, you'll see people grow both physically and in character.
It's a very dark and sad anime. That really hits home about how quickly 50 years comes for example.
The episodes as I said have flashbacks to 70 (80?) years ago and show us the story of the adventurers and their exploits though Frieren and the villagers.
We learn of their characters and exploits though her. Sort of how real life legends aren't at all what they actually were. What the villagers say is contrary to the truth. But we also get to see Frieren and how close she was to these these adventurers, even moments like sharing a meal are shown.
This is how we grow close to the characters we know nothing about in the beginning.
But whats really interesting is as I mentioned how the characters develop though age, we see a bolsterous young warrior become an elderly quiet old man for example. You SEE the characters age in real time.
Really. This entire anime is just about Frieren who is just living her life while also remembering the good times she had with her friends and trying to understand aging and what time actually is rather then how she perceives it.
I really encourage you to watch this anime yourself and make your own deduction. if you enjoy chill heavy story driven anime about the perception of time and our life, then you'll probably enjoy Frieren.
I personally don't think its a MASTERPIECE.
But it's a 9/10 I'd say. Just bring some tissues

Spy x Family is one of the best shows I've seen in a while. (Very Minor spoilers)
The premise to put it very simple is a spy with a fake family whose identities are hidden from one another, the wife is an assassin and the daughter is a telepath who knows their secret identifies and everything they say (not known to them)
The setting is in a pseudo-German world divided between two kingdoms, Westalis and Ostania. Westalis being inspired by West Germany and Ostania East Germany.
Ostania (where the show takes place) seems to be somewhat communist as they have a ministry and secret police type
...
stuff. The timeline appears to be in the 1960s or 70s, indicated by the clothing and technology.
Our cast is as follows:
Twilight/Lloyd: the legendary spy who has the job of enrolling his daughter into a prestigious academy to get close to one of the headmasters who is trying to destroy the world. Only Anya knows who he really is. Master of identity, espionage and cooking.
Yor Briar/Briar Rose (or princess thorn in the dub): A famous assassin who falls in love with Lloyd but has trouble restraining her assassin instinct, her identity unbeknownst to Lloyd but known to Anya. Superhuman strength and agility, extremely sharp reflexes, knowledgeable of many different martial arts and ways to kill but can't cook to save her life.
Anya: the orphaned telepath who may or may not be 4-6 years old, originally perceived as highly intelligent but it's shown to actually fake it via telepathy. Idolizes Lloyd and Yor and is obsessed with spys. Her telepathy isn't known to Lloyd or Yor. She doesn't have any talents or special skills but she is very cute and precious. Likes peanuts and hot cocoa.
Yuri: Yor's brother with a massive sister complex and a secret only Lloyd finds out.
Frankie: Lloyd's forger and basically bff
Headmaster Henry Henderson: the most elegant mf alive. His drip is immaculate.
There's many other characters but that's the gist of the cast.
The first several episodes involve them getting into the academy and appearing "normal" of course after 3 episodes of meeting the cast.
The show is wonderful because it's just wholesome and fun to watch. Briar actually wants a family and Lloyd is conflicted between the "family" and his mission. And Anya is just happy to have a mom and dad.
There's fight scenes and there's comedy. Briar can't cook, Lloyd keeps vanishing, after the first several episodes as mentioned we get side content such as Lloyd taking over various side jobs while raising his family. The plot really doesn't "start" again until part 2.
The season is split between Lloyd's mission and Anya's school life. The latter is okay but kind of boring. It feels like more filler content.
The animation is incredibly well done and even breath taking at times. It uses a realistic cartoon style. Its very fluid and the action scenes are very entertaining and will keep you hooked.
I did not watch the sub so this is based off the English dub, the English dub cast is really solid. Especially Briar and Anya. Lloyd is great but they steal the show with their performances.
But if you enjoy atypical James Bond/Spy stuff and goofy family hijinks..please watch SpyxFamily. I binged the entire show personally, it was very enthralling.
Anya alone makes the show a 9/10
ELEGANT!

"What a spectacular corkscrew we are seeing this morning"
What is Nichijou? A true work of art. A masterpiece of anime. It's just wonderful. Comedy gold. Finely crafted humor double cooked.
Nichijou is a comedy about random and bizarre situations that occupy our lives. Normal mundane things such as going to school or eating food is made into humor. An example is one of our characters or taking a test and seeing your friend standing on their desk or going shopping for something only to find its out of stock.
That being said Nichijou is realistic but also bizarre and absurd. It isn't supernatural or
...
outworldish as everything they do is grounded in reality for the most part. It's a slice of life comedy.
Where else would you see a girl's sister wearing a wrestling mask underneath a bear mask before getting corkscrewed by her sister?
Where else do you watch an episode where they go to buy cat food and come home with a SNOWMAN? (Why is there a snowman in the supermarket during summer?!) Or the principal of a school SUPLEXING A DEER?. This show makes Gintama blush with how utterly absurd it can get.
This show is just delightful. It's based off the manga and operates as such. There are segments in the show split up lasting from 30 seconds to 5 minutes or so.
Some of the characters in the show are:
Yukko: the "protagonist" who is terrible at drawing, isn't very bright and is accident prone.
Mio: an artistically talented girl with blue hair who seems to be the most normal and sane out of our quirky group who - aaaand she's drawing Yaoi again.
Mai: a bispecled quiet girl who is very odd and possibly autistic as she memorizes strange things and shows little emotion. She also wears a wig underneath a wig underneath her real hair.
Nano: A girl who is actually a robot as if it wasn't evident by the comically sized wind up screw in the back of her body. She just wants to live a normal life but is often plagued by problems relating to her mechanical self and having to care for the professor as her pseudo-mother
Hakase: The child professor who built Nano, despite being a genius she is extremely immature and acts like a literal child often modifying Nano with useless and sometimes dangerous modifications like a sweet roll dispenser or rocket fist and talks/acts as a child would doing acts such as coloring pictures, throwing tantrums and wanting snacks or sugary stuff.
The animation is incredibly well done and is better then most modern anime in terms of production. Its very clear with little shading but retains a good aesthetic. Coloring is very light but not bright. The animation itself is very fluid and expressive with tons of variety thoughout and changes based on dramatic moments.
Sound wise, I prefer the sub, several characters like the professor just sound better (in my opinion!) The dub is fine however, just preference. Light jolly classical music plays throughout the episodes.
This is not an anime for kids. This is an anime for teenagers to adults I would argue as it contains sexual jokes and references at times only they would understand.
I fully recommend watching Nichijou if you need a good comedy, it is very very entertaining and worth while. If you don't find a principal wrestling a deer or a student bringing a gatling gun to school funny...then I don't know what to tell you.
All I can say is..
Hakase da~Nya 😸
