It was Megumi's route all along?...it always has been.
Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata Fine's movie more or less starts us straight after the events of the second season of the anime series with Tomoya's circle continuing with making their game for Winter Comiket whilst Eriri and Utaha has started working on Field Chronicles in a different company. So right off the bat LA will say that the movie has all the trademarks of Saenai Heroine's "meta" storytelling in mirroring the events of Tomoya's writers block in writing the "main heroine's plot' to the romance route to Megumi from everything from the trials and tribulations Tomoya and
...
Megumi encounters.
Character-wise, the movie not only fleshed out the majority of the characters from the second season but made them way more likable characters namely Akane Kousaka, the person whole "stole" Eriri and Utaha off Tomoya's circle, though Akane is the biggest example due to her weight in the plot and how she factors into almost everyone involved. Though the second season saw her as the insanely strict busybody, we still see that here but in a bigger perspective whilst also being something of a mentor to Tomoya with his scripts. we do see latter that Akane means well to Tomoya let alone some her setting in motion events that happened in previous seasons at that. To that end, Eriri and Utaha gets their just dues with this movie, due to the massive *ahem* "debate" that occurred during the second season that Akane's proposal to them and everything, the movie rectified it all in more ways than one and more or less "cleansing" that "*ahem* ♭ taste off.
Ok before LA talks about Tomoya and Megumi's relationship, LA does wanna talk about LA own internal waifu wars with this series, as LA was an avid Utaha fan and Utaha got LA into the series, Utaha being the seductress and senpai type only elevated her to best girl and it did kinda broke LA heart when she started working for Akane and betraying Tomoya...though uhhh the kiss at the end of the second season made up for it, but nonetheless her actions were kinda justified and made it solidified here. So with that Utaha history out of the way, this movie IS Megumi's route and because of that, LA wasn't exactly the best fan of Megumi as Utaha already had the position of best girl and with her maturing in this movie to being the one into being the voice of reason for Eriri and like Utaha says at the start of this movie that their now bit players to the real plot, LA could still get behind this. Utaha is best girl still in LA's eyes but this is Megumi's route and how it worked out, LA still absolutely agrees with the outcome the movie went with.
Now as for Eriri, well she got the development she needed to finally move past being "the childhood friend" as character development which worked out for her which was great and finally Michiru was probably being the support to both Tomoya and Megumi in many ways through this movie, she didn't do much, much like in the anime series besides her own "arc" but with how things were going between Tomoya and Megumi that was kinda expected.
Now one more thing before LA actually goes into Tomoya and Megumi's relationship and that would be that Izumi and Iori Hashima as character probably got the least development from the movie as a whole due the massive amount of focus towards Tomoya, Megumi, Eriri and Utaha's resolutions thus much like Michiru, they became supports with little fleshing out of character development and the such, kinda to the point MICHIRU got more development with what little even she gotten.
Ok, so onto Tomoya and Megumi's relationship and it quite the unique one, one in which probably got alot of people into the serie sin the first place and really it's unique in that yes, the script of the game Tomoya is making mirrors that of their own relationship but we more or less got to see Megumi's true personality coming into focus with this movie, something that was shown a little bit during the second season but the movie really did flesh out Megumi as a character as the not so "pure maiden with a sense of wit" character but as something else that made her alot more human in that ways, especially when the trials and tribulations of the Akane incident within the movie starts up and we get to see Megumi opening up to her true feelings as subtle or not she portrays it. It made her likable oddly enough as being more human, yes Utaha is still best girl for LA but this was kinda the development LA wanted from Megumi but LA guess the anime series left the best til last with this movie to show it off. Tomoya as a character more or less is his usual self though he to opens himself up to Megumi even at the risk of his love life with her during the more dramatic moments of the movie at that. It's an interesting and rather unique relationship to say the least as in anime terms Tomoya would've routed Eriri instead but this isn't just any romance anime as the title of the anime series shows.
The animation done by CloverWorks were stellar as they took the stead from A1-Pictures to have the same animation flair as the anime series with ALOT more polish towards every other element. Though the movie is a rather talkative movie, the animation work CloverWorks did to the movie was stellar without a shadow of a doubt.
The voice work was also great with all the returning cast members form the anime. LA will give HUGE props to Kiyono Yasuno as Megumi with her stoic monotoned, tsundere cadence giving off ALOT of subtle hinting to Megumi as a character, along with Ai Kayano as Utaha cos of course and finally Saori Oonishi as Eriri making this voice cat extremely well, expected when the voice cast mingled with one another for two seasons of the anime itself. Nonetheless MVP easily, EASILY goes to Kiyono Yasuno with the movie.
Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata Fine's movie is the finality, the conclusion to the Saenai Heroine anime series and it left in great strides, now is it a masterpiece?, well for LA yes, for romance animes?..well sure it did ALOT of plot curveballs to be "original", which to some elements it did and executed decent to fairly well in LA's eyes. But for all the flaws and "debates" it caused during it's anime series, the movie concluded and wrapped everything quite nicely at that. LA did love the metaness of it all, which is a staple of Saenai Heroine's humor, considering the premise of the anime series itself and everything let alone the movie itself being tongue in cheek sometimes especially towards the end. But LA loved this movie, as it gave new insights to the majority of the characters from the anime series, made HUGE romance strides for the main cast and gave the proper resolutions for the cast needed to make this series go off in the way it did to make LA satisfied through and through.
Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata Flat left itself in a bitter flat note in it's ending but Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata Fine...left off in a fine yet happy resolving note.
Didn't know Utaha played Fate Grand Order though............huh Utaha still is best girl~!
But Megumi won...

Teaser for the potential to come...
So Burn the Witch's "movie" is another of Tite Kubo's manga adaptations brought into anime and for what these 3 episodes has shown us as a "sneak peak" as it were LA is VERY intrigued and a bit invested into this IP.
Burn the Witch's premise has most of the hallmarks of Tite Kubo's writing but heightened in some ways but still lacking in details due to the screentime of this "teaser movie". Burn the Witch's premise is also interesting in which there are "Reverse" Worlds and in London, dragon roam, Pipers eliminate them all the while humans who come into
...
contact with them get executed, though there are humans form the "Real World" can go into the Reverse World and harbor dragons being "Dragonclad" and they are used to "bait" other dragons.
The characters are also interesting, from the aggressively tsun Ninny Sprangcole voiced by Asami Tano a former singer turned Piper along with her partner the stoic teasing Noel Niihashi voiced by Yuina Yamada and the bumbling aloof idiot Balgo Parks voiced by Shinba Tsuchiya who's a dragonclad and has a MASSIVE crush towards Noel. The first three episodes mainly centres on Balgo for the first episode, while the last two centres on Ninny due to the other character of Macy Baljure voiced by Saori Hayami who used to be in same idol band Ninny was in and she somehow ended up in Reverse London. Though on this front, Noel seemed to be the most reactionary in the cast let laone we not knowing much about her besides her being Ninny's partner.
Though to counteract this, Burn the Witch's world building was MASSIVELY interesting from how the structure of the Reverse London handles it's dragon problem to the higher ups, something Tite Kubo is adept at in writing. The world building all within the three episodes though giving us exposition but needed nonetheless, fleshed out Reverse London and it's workings all the same and made LA invested into it much more easily at that too.
The animation done by Studio Colorido was done extremely well, with Tite's style pretty much shown through it's character designs off the bat to the good to great battles shown. Really not much else to say besides that the animation OOZES Tite's style and flair and Studio Colorido captured that brilliantly.
The voice cast was also pretty good with some relatively new seiyuu's like Yuina Yamada to Shinba Tsuchiya to some veteran and somewhat rookie seiyuu's like Saori Hayami and Asami Tano in the voice cast, nonetheless the voice cast was REALLY good from Saori Hayami's quick changing cadence to Yuina's more stoic-ness reminding LA of Saori Oonishi. If LA had to pin LA's favoruite seiyuu in this cast..........Asami Tano, with Yuina Yamada as a close second. Nonetheless decent to almost great voice cast.
LA sees massive potential in Burn the Witch and in this regard kinda makes LA want to return back into Bleach in this regard and yes Bleach and Burn the Witch does have connection which is shown near the end of the 3rd episode and to this regard, though Burn the Witch's characterization is lacking as well as the first episode's "incident" glossed over for plot and screentime reasons kinda rushing things, LA could see that being fleshed out from the teaser we got here.
If anything if Burn The Witch manages to actually get a full series off this, LA will and would actually watch it as this teaser pretty much cemented that fact that it's something to dig into and having all the potential it can to be something HUGE if it can be, but we'll more or less see if Burn the Witch actually gets a full anime series in due time.
The "teaser movie" has tons of potential, let's just hope for the best as this might be Tite Kubo's peak writing but for the teaser movie itself it shows promise and LA was decently invested in it
and liked it more or less.
Bleach but with Wtiches....and dragons.

Subaru's Hell Loop
Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season is back and left off where the first season did and...
Who's Rem???
Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season is back at it and really this season was a real gut puncher to Subaru's sanity and mental trauma given in this season. With this season revolving around the Sanctuary, the place where Roswaal and the villagers fled when the Witch's Cult attacked, Subaru and Emilia ventures into the Sanctuary but before Subaru enters the Sanctuary...he comes across...a Witch, the Witch of Greed Echidna.
This "arc" goes all out on Subaru's mental trauma as well as giving Subaru some
...
much needed respite to it as well, from giving him some resolutions to his parents, when he was whisked away from another world to showing that he DOES have friends in this world. Subaru's development in this season was even better developed than the last and though LA had some gripes about him in the first season namely him hogging the spotlight away from Emilia, this second season seemed to have rectified that in some ways, through not only showing off Subaru as the audience surrogate of the typical otaku with no direction in life but even his pain and suffering not being only contained by him, he can trust in others with the likes of Ram, Emilia and HELL OTTO. This second season REALLY developed Subaru more than ever and LA sees this as a good thing as he more or less deserved it this time, instead of the "plot" forcing" him to take the spotlight away from Emilia.
No seriously?, who's Rem?
LA can forgive Subaru hogging the spotlight this season as simultaneously, he and along several other characters do get developments on the side, from Ram opening up to Subaru, Emilia's past, Roswaal's intentions and the biggest one being Beatrice and her ties to someone, those little tidbits allows the main cast alongside Subaru to be MAJORLY developed form their first season counterparts and even more to the point of the stakes involved in this season, namely the Sanctuary's secrets and the member's intentions with the Trials and even returning villains coming up to...slice things up again to the mansion being raided again and the lives of those on the line once again.
This season really improved from the first season to LA, from Subaru's development, the better character developments to the rets of the cast who were left out from the first season, the new mysteries of the Sanctuary to the newer villains, Echidna herself opening up more lore about the Witches themselves and getting even closer to Witch of Envy. This second season had it all and if this season made Subaru into a better person by not only develop into a really fleshed out character whilst his screentime being justifiable and again "MAKING SUBARU INTO A BETTER PERSON" away from his white knighting abrasive personality?...yeah this season did something LA think it'd do and do it WELL.
The animation done once again by White Fox is back and the animation is much like the first season before it from the gory battle scenes, the atmospheric tone form grim to happy in an instant and the expected crisp character designs, yeah White Fox is back and the animation was Amazing as always.
The voice cast is back and since this season is much more intense than ever even with the new casts, it's still amazing, from Yuusuke Kobayashi as Subaru, Rie Takahashi as Emilia, Satomi Arai as Beatrice, Maaya Sakamoto as Echidna, Rie Murakawa as Ram and finally Nobuhiko Okamoto as Garfiel Tiinsel some intense and batshit insaely well done performances from the series to date, especially from Yuusuke Kobayashi and Satomi Arai, the voice cast is back and better than ever is the best way to describe the voice cast this season.
Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season pretty much fixed almost all errors it had in the first season especially involving Subaru as a character whilst also developing it's lore on the world with the witches to the more inner depths of character motivations this season to the point of being both pinpoint accurate WHILE trying to uncover the mystery of solving the Hell Loop Subaru has gotten himself stuck into. Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season vastly exceeded LA's expectations for ReZero, quashed all flaws LA had with Subaru, developed the world and it's characters in LESS time than it's first season and made LA even more invested in the world of ReZero, what else can LA say to this and not rate this second season as high as LA could because of that...let alone one of LA's favourite animes of Summer 2020 without question.

Fate Grand Order: The TOURNAMENT Years...
The God of High School is another LINE of webtoons anime this time animated by MAPPA and boy was this entry into the Webtoons line of animes, something else. The God of High School's premise starts out pretty normal of Jin Mori voiced by Tatsumaru Tachibana wanting to find his grandfather by entering into the tournament of the anime's titlesakes and for the first half of the anime it is nothing but a regular tournament arc with all the players coming in with their ambitions to win and to be granted a wish, it soon delves into Gods, world domination,
...
clandestine cults and myths and legends becoming reality in some of the main casts.
Right from the bat however LA will talk about The God of High School's animation done by MAPPA, it's one of the BEST and well animated animes of Summer 2020 especially the batshit insanely well done fights taken place and for the starting premise of a "tournament arc", you bet the fights are well choreographed and fluid in nature. MAPPA REALLY succeeded in the animation department for this anime as the anime styles change drastically when needed, whether it be for atmosphere, insane fight choreography or to show the artwork for the hell of it. MAPPA SERIOUSLY outdid themselves and man it shows.
Next would be the massive amounts of character development even throughout the main cast of The God of High School and the tournament arc perfectly rounds all of it up. Since the tournament's reward is the typical "wish granted" scenario, of course every character in the tournament will nonetheless show their ambitions and as to why they fight. Form the main cast we have Jin Mori, who wants to find his grandfather, Dae-wi Han voiced by Kentarou Kumagai, who wants to save his best friend and finally Mira Yu voiced by Ayaka Ohashi who wnats to carry on her family's sword style, all three of them who has a VERY strong sense of justice, but with Jin and Dae-wi being the more reckless of the three with Mira being the minder to the both of them. ALl three of our main protagonists do get that massive development in order to see where they came from but this also comes into play with the opponents they face many of whom have similar ambitions, some however are just straight up ruthless competitors, namely Jegal Taek voiced by Kenjiro Tsuda, who does get a bit of backstory and everything but nonetheless Jegal is nonetheless a ruthless fighter only caring about himself and never caring his opponent to the point of death. Nonetheless with the great animation, the anime also has some GREAT character development even if the anime is mostly high impact fights.
So where do the gods and clandestine cults come into play, well in comes the world building aspect of The God of High School and man they add in ALOT of myths and legends into this, as in the background of the tournament, several things are brewing to which the higher ups of The God of High School organization deals with and the higher reasoning as why the tournament was held in the firts place, even to that the lore of The God of High School is deeply connected to myths and legends to which latter on the main cast as well as everyone else gains superpowers "as it were" to which you soon start to see parallels to those myths and legends and lets just say the power level grows to the point of...
"Remember when this series was just a high-school martial arts tournament?"
Now the anime early on had a rather comedic styling to it with almost crude blobby faces stylings for comedy and everything which is a good leverage to the anime though it stopped round the halfway point when the anime started REALLY getting seirous with the International GOH arc.
The voice cast is also pretty good, from tatsumaru Tachibana as the goofy aloof Jin Mori, Kentarou Kumagai as Dae-wi with his lackadaisical almost stoic cadence and finally Ayaka Ohashi as Mira Yoo as the stern but genki cadence. of course it's not just those three as we also have Announcer T voiced by Tomokazu Seki, Kenjirou Tsuda as Jegal and Daisuke Namikawa as Mujin Park as some great standouts as well. The voice cast is great, that compliments the animation and it's characters very well.
The God of High School for LA in terms of Webtoons, well due to this anime anyways, LA actually liked it much more than Kami no Tou for this matter, namely because of it's characters and it's influence on myths and legends, sure Kami no Tou is a different genre compared to The God of High School, but nonetheless The God of High School just had that spark to be much more interesting and how it executed everything, Kami no Tou had it's either slow pacing moments and the huge build up, but The God of High School did all that from the start. LA knows comparing the two has MANY varying factors to it,both are good, LA doesn't doubt that, but God of High School was something else.
The God of High School was another surprising entry and probably one of LA's favourite anime of Summer 2020, everything from it's characters, lore, animation, voice cast, character development, it's fights, it's small details linking to myths and legends reminiscent of Fate Grand Order and you pretty much have a strong contender for one of the best animes of Summer 2020. Don't sleep on God of High School otherwise your gonna miss out on a banger.

Monster Musume: Medieval Edition as a Doctor
Monster Musume no Oishasan though it seems to be in the same universe as Monster Musume but in the past, by actuality, this was penned by a different author who more or less seemed to have been inspired by Monster Musume in a ways by how much the cast are almost similar to how the main precedent of the main protagonist gaining a monster musume harem along the way.
The basic premise of the anime is mostly about Glenn Litbeit voiced by Shunichi Toki who deals with monster species injuries along with his assistant and childhood friend who has a
...
childhood crush on Glenn, that being Saphentite Neikes voiced by Saori Oonishi. Monster Musume no Oishasan does have a story beyond Glenn and Saphee that concerning Skadi Dragonfelt voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki and the state of her city of Lindworm that she governs and employs the help from Glenn to help take care of the monsters getting injured as well as her ailing self as well.
In terms of the harem aspect of Monster Musume no Oishasan, the harem themselves do have stuff outside of Glenn himself even though most all by for Glenn one way or another, from Tisalia Scythia voiced by Sarah Emi Bridcutt a centaur wanting another heir to her company thus sees Glenn as a potential candidate, as well her assistants of Kay Arte voiced by Ai Fairouz and Rona Arte voiced by M.A.O pushing this, to Lulala Heine voiced by Yukiyo Fujii a mermaid who's more of an aloof harem member and more or less she just likes Glenn but not so romantically as the rest of the harem, to which Illy voiced by Sayumi Suzushiro a harpy who is more tsundere about Glenn to Arahnia Arachnida voiced by Yuu Shimamura who's the trickster type who wants to push Glenn and Saphee but also in order to do so, she makes herself into the equation, Kunai Zenou voiced by Maki Kawase a zombie doll who's the MOST tsundere and bodyguard for Skadi and finally Meme Redon voiced by Miho Okasaki a cyclops who's a blacksmith who latter helps Glenn with some tools while trying to get over her shyness,. So yeah the harem reflecting from Monster Musume does have the same species invovled in the harem and again the harem aspect isn't that bad, the biggest competitors to Glenn's harem easily becomes Tisalia and Saphee due to their screentime while the rest of her harem does tend to other things whilst also being in the harem or pushing other members to Glenn. Aside from Tisalia and Saphee, Arahnia gets some development in terms of characterization and probably being the third wheel to the harem.
Now the other story element involving Skadi does make the anime's tone different as it involving discrimination as the city of Lindworm having both humans and monsters living together, well some people don't like that and that comes into play with Skadi herself latter becoming a huge focus, Monster Musume no Oishasan because of this does veer away from the comedy slapstick nature of Monster Musume in a new direction which LA doesn't mind one bit.
However Monster Musume no Oishasan, does have a fanservicey element to it, mainly the "check ups" as well as the suggestive nature of the some of the situations Glenn gets into. more or less it's either innuendos or things that "remind you of something else" fanservice element to it.
The animation done by Arvo Animation was done decently from the decent background work and the obvious exotic character designs. LA really didn't see many derps if at all from Arvo Aniamtion with Monster Musume no Oishasan and the quality of the aniamtion was consistent more or less.
The voice cast was actually pretty good from Saori Oonishi as Saphee, Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Tisalia and Yuu Shimamura as Arahnia. With the bit parts Lulala, Meme and Illy play however, Yukiyo Fujii, Miho Okasaki and Sayumi Suzushiro didn't really get to shine in this anime but nonetheless Saori Oonshi, Sarah Emi Bridcut and Yuu Shimamura did a pretty good job in this anime with the MVP being Saori Oonishi for obvious reasons. Overall this anime's voice cast was pretty good.
Monster Musume no Oishasan if by comparison towards it's predecessor of Monster Musume, it's a lot more serious take on the Monster Musume universe with the same elements of Monster Musume at the same time (it's harem and romance elements), but the "Monster Doc" elements is what makes it interesting and adding to the fact that they do make the illness compatible with the species of that Glenn faces gives it that detail it needed to more or less keep itself grounded while being silly at times when it needed. Monster Musume was fanservicey harem fun, whilst Monster Musume no Oishasan is harem romance with a tinge of surgical seriousness, but seeing another side to the Monster Musume world wasn't that bad either. Overall, Monster Musume no Oishasan was a decent watch and back into the monster musume harem anime world that's a bit more grounded than it's predecessor for better or worse.

Demons die if they are killed.
Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha: Shijou Saikyou no Maou no Shiso, Tensei shite Shison-tachi no Gakkou e, or Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha for short is for what LA sees Overlord 2.0 but with Demon Lords instead of a Lich. As it invovles Anos Voldigoad voiced by Tatsuhisa Suzuki (Ainz) who after being resurrected (transport to another world) who longs for a peaceful world (wants to find his friends) but things are going on in the background that prevents them from doing so.
Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha all things considered much like Overlord, has it's own charm namely for the sake of your
...
main protagonist of Anos being wickedly and OP as possible to the point of hilarity. Anos as a reincarnated demon lord from the START of the anime makes the rest of the cast's power level be laughable but it's not Anos' goal to be all powerful, no as his goal is to one find his rightful place in the world and find out why his peaceful world he promised to his rival Hero of the world had gone awry. Therefore Anos' OPness is nonetheless laughably funny at times, from casually resurrecting major characters like it's nothing, bringing his rivals into untold physical or mental pain and casually healing magical diseases with one magical circle. Anos is unbelievably OP but he has the charm to oddly enough pull it off and not make it out like the methods to the anime's plots don't SOLELY rely on him sometimes ad brings in his allies into the fray in order to deal with the problem together.
Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha does focus on it's characters whereas Anos is both a main focus whilst bringing development to the rest of the cast while he's the all mighty janitor throughout the anime. Case in point, Misha and Sasha Necron's situation whereas Sasha being the antagonistic character at first but Anos slowly but surely wins her over. Sasha becomes the tsundere like character once she's Anos' ally and along with Misha who pretty much was on Anos' side from the beginning, Misha herself shows the new world Anos' is in with it's hierarchy even down to it's schools. Later on we get Lay Glanzudlii voiced by Takuma Terashima who gets his own mini arc who befriends Anos but strikes up a deal with the Royalist and oddly enough becomes rivals to Anos in a tournament. From all the acclamations Anos gets later on in the anime, he pretty much gains a fan club who wants to stop the prejudices of hybrid demons throughout the school in which the fan club members are all hybrid demons.
As such Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha does deal with racial prejudices with hybrids and the Royalist themselves looking down on anyone who one disagrees with this to the hybrids themselves who wants to change the status quo, which is saying something as Anos' goal for peace in the world does connect to this as technically before his resurrection and his final talk with the hero, his name was replaced with someone else and this someone else "took his name" and formed what was the demon world it is when he resurrected so to this end, even for Anos, it's personal for befouling his future goals going into disarray.
The animation done by Silver link is the expected character designs from Silver Link, the polish look to the characters mainly, but also the battles and heck even the backgrounding work on them are actually pretty good from Silver link in this anime. Silver Link did an overall great job in terms of animation from it's character designs, backgrounding and battles themselves.
The voice cast though a bit minimalsitic at first slowly grows as the anime goes along, growing it to a large degree so LA will just say LA's MVP so LA won't go on forever, so MVP's for Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha easily goes to Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Anos for his charming yet stoic cadence, Aki Toyosaki as Izabella (Ano's mother) who's that extra genki character who loves her son type character and Yuuko Natsuyoshi as Sasha Necron who LA at first thought she was voiced by Nao Touyama in tsundere mode, but nonetheless Yuuko did a rather good tsundere role.
Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha oddly enough got ALOT of it's charm from Anos and he himself makes the anime what it is, sure he's OP as hell but where his OPness goes, he doesn't use it technically for personal gain, more or less he wants nothing but peace and everone to be happy but will hold no bar if he gets crossed and heck Anos himself isn't the primary focus of the anime most of the time as Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha focuses on it's other main cast at that thus it's not the typical "main protagonist is OP and easily solves everything" dilemma many recent anime has given us. Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha develops it's main cast, gives us mysteries involving Anos as well as world building at that, that's tied to Anos himself, an interesting magic system, a decent love triangle that's NOT the main focus, Anos himself also helps in the background to the rest of the cast whilst simultaneously being in the foreground to the bigger picture plotlines, Anos does it all...
However if there was any outward flaws to Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha: Shijou Saikyou no Maou no Shiso, Tensei shite Shison-tachi no Gakkou e that it has, well the fact that alot of the minor villains are nothing but that is a given to Anos but with all the hints to the major villain and as to who this "Avos Dilhevia" is. becomes apparent with the MULTIPLE hints given making it kinda a process of elimination, does the detract from the entire anime?, no, but it just something LA would like to point out nonetheless.
Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha is one of those rare power fantasy anime that is one part an over the top parody of it's genre with it's main protagonist yet plays things completely straight when it needs to and makes the anime serious even though the main protagonist himself is OP as hell giving some levity of stakes to it, if not to Anos, then Lay, Sasha, Misha or any of Anos' allies.
Avos Dilhevia?, no Anos Volidgoad

TOO MANY GOOD WAIFU'S HERE......cept Mami
Kanojo, Okarishimasu off the bat was an anime that interested LA right from the first episode of a down and out dumped Kazuya Kinoshita voiced by Shun Horie and him renting out a girlfriend to impress his grandmother and things gets harder and harder to keep the rouse as his lie of "having a girlfriend" keeps expanding.
To start off with renting a girlfriend in Japan IS A REAL LIFE THING and it's how the author of Kanojo, Okarishimasu, Reiji Miyajima was inspired to create the manga and had first hand experience in it by renting a girlfriend for pointers to
...
the creation of the manga. To this, Reiji weaved a complex romantic comedy revolving around Kazuya and his run-ins with rental girlfriends to varying degrees of hijinks and drama.
Since Kanojo, Okarishimasu is a rather character and relationship driven show, let's start with the characters. Kazuya Kinoshita is our main protagonist that kinda instigates the rental girlfriend lie, he's the kind of guy that more or less thinks with his head as well and the thing is, Kazuya isn't exactly the dense main protagonist as he KNOWS and conveys his feelings sometimes through his actions and wants nothing but happiness for both himself and his harem so that no one gets hurt in the process of his lies. Chizuru Ichinose voiced by Sora Amamiya is Kazuya's first rental girlfriend and her tsundereness is definitely a selling point of her let alone the fact of what she's truly like outside of facade, much like Kazuya she also wants no one hurt in the process of the rental girlfriend, but she's a mysterious figure as besides her rental girlfriend job we don't actually know much but her interactions with Kazuya does bring out her character throughout the anime. Mami Nanami voiced by Aoi Yuuki is Kazuya's ex and well though she isn't a rental girlfriend she a MAJOR obstacle to both Chizuru and Kazuya's facade as she wants to split up Kazuya and Chizuru, whether it be through her jealously and her being a sociopath to do so
obviously doesn't exactly get her LA's good books either, one way or another, Mami is one of the biggest obstacles for Kazuya and Chizuru early in the anime. Next is Ruka Sarashino voiced by Nao Touyama, a girlfriend of one of Kazuya's best friends, who latter find out about Kazuya and Chizuru's rental girlfriend thing, and one thing leads to another and she wants to become Kazuya's "temp" rental girlfriend, Ruka however is one of the more clingy girls of Kazuya's harem and her development in all this is that she's essentially thinks she's a robot as nothing excites her until she met Kazuya. Lastly is Sumi Sakuraisawa voiced by Rie Takahashi who's essentially the extremely shy type and as much as she isn't exactly LA's type (the shy girl wanting to get away from that and ope herself up), her cuteness was kinda what sold me even for her ONE episode debut. For LA's favourite characters, had to be tie between Chizuru and Ruka without a doubt, with Chizuru's personality and comedic hijinks being a standout while Nao Touyama voicing Ruka being hers.
Chizuru if anything is something different, as much as Ruka is interesting and shakes thing sup, Chizuru as LA mentioned above she is mysterious outside her rental girlfriend job but she's also REAl, as in she's got her own aspirations outside of it that is also outside of Kazuya in this way and because of that, Chizuru is "special" kind of waifu altogether and yeah in terms of waifu wars, she and Ruka are pretty much waifu's of the season.
LA will also mention the two standout minor characters that of Yoshiaki Kibe voiced by Masayuki Akasaka, one of Kazuya's friends who pretty much get him in the straight and narrow with the entire rental girlfriend thing albeit he's out of the loop for it and Nagomi Kinoshita voiced by Yukari Nozawa, Kazuya's grandmother who is a gacha-loving waifu-enthusiast who loves Chizuru, but most of her moments were either funny as hell or drives the lies Kazuya told her even further, so she's a nice pinnacle of chaos in the anime, even if it isn't her fault.
The animation done by TMS Entertainment was on point in terms of quality, the character designs were crisp and comedic animation timing was great. Heck TMS even went risque at times with it's fanservice and still put in the quality it did. Nothing much to add but the animation was crisp and detailed for a romcom.
The voice cast was amazing for LA, no not just because of Nao Touyama but in all seriousness, the voice cast of Kanojo, Okarishimasu was amazing. From Sora Amamiya's on point tsundereness as Chizuru, Nao Touyama's clingy but genki personality that Nao Touyama is VERY known for, Aoi Yuuki's almost bi polar genki but scary cadences as Mami that as much as LA hated Mami as a character, Aoi Yuuki REALLY made Mami who she is and her cadences were pitch perfect at times. Obvious MVP's for this anime goes to Shun Horie as Kazuya, Sora Amamiya as Chizuru and Nao Touyama as Ruka and you know what, Aoi Yuuki was great as well.
Kanojo, Okarishimasu was a great oddity in the Summer of 2020 for LA as LA was NOT expecting to like it that much but as soon as the premise opened itself, LA was hooked in by Kazuya's lie and wanting to see Kazuya develop out of his lies and stupid personality (which he does latter) but the standout feature of the anime is quite obviously the harem (sans Mami) as they are just too good of waifu's, LA did want to see more of Sumi due to her one episode appearance but with a second season announced maybe we will see more of Sumi...and of Ruka and Chizuru for that matter.
Kanojo, Okarishimasu was a welcoming surprise into Kazuya's lies that instigated the anime's premise and the rental business as a whole as the "rental girlfriend etc." is something only the Japanese and Koreans have at the moment so having an insight to it like this...is interesting and considering how invested LA was to this anime and wanting to know what happened next...well...
Ruka and Chizuru best girls.....

SUGOI DEKAI
Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! does exactly what is says on the tin and all the comedic hijinks it goes along with it.
Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! or Uzaki wants to Hang Out is about Sakurai Shinichi voiced by Kenji Akabane who just wants to have the loner life in university but Uzaki Hana voiced by Naomi Oozora however thinks otherwise and gets Sakurai to be less of a loner and stoic type and more outgoing and thus starts a brilliant yet funny relationship between the two with many a smug smiles, innuendos and teasing to go around.
The basic premise is nothing but that, Uzaki getting Sakurai to
...
go out and "have fun" but it's how Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! executes this and goes ALL THE WAY with it is what makes this anime VERY good.
Before LA begins LA KNOWS this anime has some unwarranted controversy about it and to that once again it's just people who barely looked at the anime itself and judges as so, no Uzaki is not 14 or something, the anime itself makes it clear she's in university thus 18 or so and yes the anime itself does bring in some fanservice jokes about Uzaki's "SUGOI DEKAI", but that's more or less them screeching for the sake of screeching, this comedy anime in itself revolves around Uzaki and Uzaki makes Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! what it is and "changing" it just ruins the anime in it's entirety.
"You can hate whatever you want, but don't diss what someone else likes."
Ok with THAT out of the way, Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai!'s primary focus is towards it's comedy and bringing Sakurai into funny situations and his quips towards Uzaki that's one of the best selling points of this anime is IT'S GOLD, to the point it's pretty much lampshaded and used as a running gag with the bystanders of Ami Asai voiced by Ayana Taketatsu and her father along with Itsuhito Sakaki voiced by Tomoya Takagi "eating rice" off those situations.
Now Ami and her father more or less have this bystander approach into nudging Uzaki and Sakurai into a relationship whilst Sakaki takes a more forceful approach, something Ami doesn't like, same goals, differing methods.
Nonetheless the main focus of the anime is Uzaki wanting hang out with Sakurai with MANY comedic hijinks ensuing.
Now the comedy itself does seem refreshing what with the setting of Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! being in university thus what Uzaki wants to do for fun though mostly in the anime template still has it's REALLY funny moments at times and along with the MANY innuendoes both visual and verbal and the great amount of character jabbing at the expense of Sakurai and the awkward settings Sakurai gets into thanks to Uzaki (sometimes Sakurai's own doing), the comedic timing of Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! was just on point and better yet we have audience surrogates of Ami and Sakaki for those who wants to just see as a bystander (Ami) and those who wants to push their relationship (Sakaki)
Speaking of which, Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! does nudge the relationship angle between Uzaki and Sakurai alot and though in a meta-sense that Ami and Sakaki also wanting to push that in their own way, the anime DOES dive a little deep into Uzaki and Sakurai's relationship including why Uzaki even wanted to help Sakurai have a fun university life thus instigating the entire "plot" of Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! in the first place which was in itself a nice touch in their relationship.
Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! may be minimalistic but what it lacks in "plot" it adds itself to the execution of the premise and it's lovable characters.
The animation done by Studio ENGI and really for their SECOND animation job, it pretty standout, sure it's not exactly action packed and it's more or less a comedy but the comedic timing for the animations to it's vibrant character designs especially with all the outfits the cast goes through. Nonetheless ENGI's animation was juuuust right for this anime and rightfully so.
The voice cast though as minimalistic as the "plot" the voice cast of Naomi Oozora and Kenji Akabane pretty much carried the anime, what with Naomi's smug but genki as all hell cadence to Kenji's one liner quips towards Uzaki was on point and to that end, Ayana Taketatsu also bounced VERY well between Kenji and Naomi's roles in this anime as well with finally Saori Hayami rounding things up as Uzaki's mom bounced off VERY nicely with the rest of the cast as the oblivious "out of the loop" ojou mother to Keni Akanae and Naomi Oozora's antics in their respective roles. Really as minimalistic as this voice cast is, it's bulk and greatness comes from the seiyuu's themselves and the great comedic timings of the cast only made this anime WAAAAAY better.
Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! is but a simple anime, but a simple anime that executes itself VERY well for what it does with it's characters. Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! being one of the more memable animes of Summer 2020 at that and with a lovable and funny main cast such as this akin to Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san. This was probably LA's favourite comedy anime for Summer 20202 with Uzaki and Ami being waifu material at that to boot and better yet since a second season has been announced, more antics await us with Uzaki wanting to hang out even more~!!!
SUGOI DEKAI, SUGOI DEKAI INDEED.

Tatsuyuki Nagai loves Railgun and boy does it show...
Toaru Kagaku no Railgun T leaves off where from the second season with the Daihasei Festival arc that brings Misaka and her friends into the Dark Side of Academy City...
All things considered Toaru Kagaku no Railgun T does a perfect job in giving us new characters and developing throughout this season and making us like them, be it if they are friends or rivals to Misaka whilst developing Misaka at the same time and that just made LA love Railgun T even more. Railgun T brings into light of Misaki Shokuhou voiced by Azumi Asakura, one of
...
Misaka's rivals of Tokidaiwai School and throughout this arc we more or less see her rivalry towards Misaka but also sees both Misaki and Misaka grow together through what the Dark Side of Academy City has in store for them. Of course since this is Railgun, Touma is also in the mix considering the timeline of Railgun T and all and what transpires through the Daihasei Festival arc becomes something huge (as expected from the To Aru series). Though ALOT of stuff happens in the Daihasei Festival arc, two things happen that made LA change LA mind, that being Misaki isn't all that bad, it's mainly because from the previous seasons, through Misaka's perspective we just saw Misaki as just a snarky trickster ojou rival to Misaka, but the Daihasei Festival arc gave out more about her, fleshed her out to the point of LA balling LA's eyes out to the resolution of the events of the Daihasei Festival arc and that was just a key to getting Misaki to being LA's 3rd favorite waifu of the To aru series because of this arc, the other being that we get to see Misaka's hatred for the higher ups and the Sister Project manifest in a different way in this arc thus developing both Misaka and Misaki through this arc which LA just LOVED.
Of course Kuroko, Saten and Uiharu does get their own episodes after the Daihasei Festival arc, where there is the emergence of "Indian Poker", cards that let you experience people's dreams as well as an app that tells of when people got injured or "will die". Through the interim of this arc to the Dream Ranker arc, Saten also bumps into Fre nda of ITEM and even becomes friends of the sorts as well as an ambush of Yumiya of SCHOOL converging into something big happening come the Dream Ranker arc, but LA put this as a pin in the review as the interaction of Saten and Fre nda was quite interesting, heck Misaka even bumps into Kinuhata in the look for "Bust Upper" card as well in the interim which was also interesting, this also at least much like not looking at Misaki at face value, that ITEM ain't that bad either in terms of villiany...heck if you think ITEM is bad, SCHOOL and Scavenger are soo much worse.
The Dream Ranker arc, deals with "Indian poker" a new craze going on in Academy City where it lets the holder of card have dreams and thus learn things from others, however things gets crossed when we learn of the originator of Indian Poker thus leading into Misaka bumping into Scavenger and worst, an experiment gone wrong with Misaki in tow to stop another Sister-like project. This arc at the start does deal with some minor situations with Misaka's group of Kuroko and Saten but afterwards, this arc goes into full gear once Scavenger is introduced and MAN, this arc doesn't mess around with the stakes and the main "villain" of this arc and it's another Level Upper situation in a grander scale with Misaka needing to stop the main villain. Dream Ranker arc really was something else especially with the fight against the major villains of the arc was something to behold similar to Daiheisei Festival arc's fights. Nonetheless the Dream ranker arc is just as good if not close to Daiheisai Festival arc in terms of greatness for Railgun and Dream Ranker arc is also GREAT because of the good amount of interesting interactions with the Railgun cast with other groups, ala Fre nda with Saten and Misaka with Kinuhata to Misaka with Scavenger of all groups.
The animation done by JC Staff was AMAZING, right down to the fight scenes and sometimes the batshit crazy moments of Railgun T, JC Staff once again outdid themselves with the animation, the slick updated character designs, the beautiful backgrounds, the awesome battles and the comedic hijinks and timings of the animation done to T. LA will say it again but JC Staff outdid themselves and LA will say under the guidance of Tatsuyuki Nagai made it so. Bravo JC Staff.
The voice cast was once again amazing as well, most are returning voice cast from Railgun's previous seasons as well as Index and Accelerator but nonetheless the voice cast of Railgun T was amazing, from Rina Sato's down pat thundereness of Misaka Mikoto, Satomi Arai's crazy yandereness of Kuroko, the down to earth but ordinary yet extraordinary luck of Saten of Kanae Ito and the shy but calculating nice girl of Uiharu of Aki Toyosaki. Some major props also to Azumi Asakura of the sly but devilishly femme fatale ojouness cadence of Misaki Shokuhou. The voice cast, LA could talk forever but LA will once again limit it to MVP's and those easily goes to Rina Sato and Azumi Asakura, they were just soooo good this season.
Railgun T delivered to everything LA wanted from another season of Railgun T and then some, great character development ACROSS the board from Fre nda, Misaka, Misaki, Mitori, Kuroko, Saten, Uiharu EVERYONE did their part be it good or evil characters and really fleshed out To aru's universe even more, add to the GREAT detail in it's animation and stella voice casting as always from JC Staff and Tatsuyuki Nagai. LA LOVED Railgun T and all it's characters and this season was by all means another step up from Railgun S, not that S was bad either, but man T brought it's SSS game and then some.
Now if only Index had the same treatment.....

STYLE OVER SUBSTANCE?
Shokugeki no Souma: Gou no Sara gives us another plate of some GOOD FOOD ala character development.
This tournament arc of a season pits us against the BLUE tournament but also against Les Cusiniers Noirs lead by Asahi Saiba voiced by Jun Fukuyama who wants to wed Erina Nakiri and "rule" the culinary world, but more is to the BLUE tournament that it seems.
Shokugeki no Souma: Gou no Sara, LA will say falls under the same flaws it experienced throughout it's previous season but it's one main core strength is nonetheless it's character development in it's character which still stays in the 5th Plate
...
when they go throughout the anime, be it the main cast's camaraderie or internal character development or regression for the plot in order to do so. Case in point Erina's main goal for winning BLUE which is in contrast to her in Totsuki arc right down to her methods and personality taken in this arc.
Though LA will say this is again an Erina-centric arc once again with her taking centre stage even though she's technically awy for about half of the anime. But nonetheless Souma, Megumi and the rest of the new Elite Ten does have bit parts with Souma being in a more narrative focus role as protagonist this time. As for villains, we have Asahi as our main villain and he affects BOTH Souma and Erina in this arc, with Asahi being a former student of Souma's father and even beating his father, all the while he's the biggest threat to Erina in the tournament as well his own goals of culinary domination concerning Erina. Though LA sees Asahi as a step down from Erina's father from the previous season, his "main culinary power" is something that outshines Subaru's culinary mimicry to the point of absurdity. Nonetheless though the anime has some scattershot focus towards it's characters (mainly Souma and Erina), it is one part due to the weird tournament rules that caused that to happen.
The animation from JC Staff is back and thankfully reduced it's panning shots once again but still noticeable sometimes. Shokugeki no Souma: Gou no Sara's animation does have some odd derps here and there with it's quality but it's "expected animation" for Souma by this point and at least the food animation was and is still great to look at to amazing detail.
The voice cast is back and really the only new addition to the Souma cast would be Jun Fukuyama who does a decent job as the smug snake like character of Asahi. Nonetheless Shokugeki no Souma: Gou no Sara's voice cast is more or less back and overall..decent voice cast with the MVP easily going Hisako Kanemoto for her wide range of emotions throughout this arc.
What LA have found out due to the shift in the cooking in this season is that due to many of the writers and staff for Shokugeki no Souma went on pregnancy leave and JUMP wanting one more arc to round off Souma, coupled together with the author needing to rush things, caused the anime to rush things with their battles even more apparent now more than ever and the cooking has focused on cooking styles over cooking techniques. LA can see it but the bigger question would be does the shift in this make this season better than the previous season finale or this one?, well for LA the previous season's finale was a GREAT finale and rounding things up, however this seaosn's ending and what it wanted to focus more on Erina was a nice touch as well as stitching how everything came to be for Erina was also good in this regard. Overall in comparison to previous season's finale and this seaosn's finale...the previous season's finale was GREAT, this season was GREAT...for Erina.
So, what does LA think about this season?, it's not bad especially for Erina fans, but does LA find this season superfluous?, ehh not really either as LA said, this season gave MUCH more development to Erina more than anything in a similar method from the previous season did. LA liked Totsuki-hen's finale, this isn't.....that bad either.
Meh?...nah more like this season's dish gave off a nice tangy finale with a rushed-like different style of dish from Totsuki's more meaty dish, not horrible just a good lasting after-taste.
