Honestly, it was just ok. I was expecting more from such a high score on MAL but it didn't particularly wow me. The art was fantastic and the animation was as smooth as butter, but the action scenes were fairly bland. The power system was extremely bare-bones. It's hard to get a grasp on exactly how strong certain characters are in relation to others. Vanitas should be strong with his book that has been shown to be able to lord over all vampires but he really doesn't use it that often. He also gets kicked around a lot. It's also never explained how certain vampires
...
can use certain abilities while others cannot. generally, there is very little lore on the vampires themselves. we don't know whether they live longer, prefer darkness, or have enhanced senses. The show basically presents them as humans that are somewhat stronger, can drink blood if they want to, and can have special abilities that as far as we know could be anything? it's hard to see our protagonists as having come from two different worlds if the vampire world and the human world appear almost exactly the same.
The characters weren't great either. This show can't really decide if it wants to be fujo-bait or not. Both protagonists have female love interests but the show keeps playing around with the two main characters liking each other. If you're going to bait, at least go all out. The romance between Vanitas and Jeanne was pretty hard to watch. he really seems to be forcing himself on her which is gross when she clearly doesn't want it. Vanitas the titular character himself is one of the worst characters. He really pisses me off. I used to like his kind of archetype but he just hits all the wrong notes. Noé was a better character by far. His motivations were understandable, and he doesn't fit a clear archetype like Vanitas does. I wish his actions were more driven by his want to see the world instead of that just being an occasional gag.

in simple terms, I greatly enjoyed this show. It is an excelent blend of educational and genuinely funny. When it comes to shows that incorporate learning into their story, it hits the sweet spot. Too much can also make a show seem boring or tedious. Too little leaves you wanting more. This anime hits the perfect balance. It makes you want to tell the nearest individual what you have learned after watching. The characters are refreshingly diverse. Many anime follow similar outlines for all of their characters with little room for nuance, especially when it comes to gender. Heaven's Design Team's characters throw out gender
...
roles completely. They are true to themselves and are unconcerned with meaningless things like gender stereotypes. I also have to give the show props for showing one of the only trans characters I have ever seen in anime. I hope we can see more characters like her in the future.
The concept of Heaven's Design Team is very intriguing. It feels like something I would think about while spacing out in the shower (if I were religious). I really like that they also included how the anatomies would work in mythical animals. I never thought I would be so interested in why a unicorn could not exist. I imagine it would be difficult to explain the inner workings of made-up creatures. I have much respect for the author's vast wisdom. While the art style was unique, the animation itself was nothing to write home about. I really liked the bright colors that made the world feel all fluffy and upbeat. The character designs were somewhat simple, but the colors made them stand out more. You can really get a sense of their personality just from looking at their clothes.
Overall, This show is absolutely worth watching. Especially if you have any interest in animals or biology. But I think you can get enjoyment out of it either way.

While not outstanding in all categories, this show is perfectly acceptable. I liked the unique concept. I've been so sick of all the generic isekai, romcom, and sports anime recently, this seems like a nice change in pace. I like the idea of the mysterious diseases, although them all being food-related made me somewhat uncomfortable. It's never really explained as to why they are all food-related. It was not really what I was expecting when I started the show. It follows a sort of monster-of-the-week formula with diseases instead. There isn't really an overarching plot. For the most part, you just take things as they
...
come. It feels refreshing to not have to really think super hard about how everything fits into the story. It becomes slightly more complex when Ramune's master is introduced, but that is near the end. Based on the OP, I thought that his master was going to be the antagonist but there really isn't an actual antagonist besides the diseases themselves.
The art direction was not great. It felt like it was going for more stylized but it didn't quite reach the threshold to be called unique. Ramune's design in particular was strange. He was too lanky and didn't quite feel like he had correct proportions. The other designers weren't very memorable, but passable. The animation was pretty poor, but I imagine their budget wasn't too large. It's not necessarily an anime that I felt needed amazing animation. It was more about the stories than any action. But I do hope that they get a larger budget for a second season if they get one. The OP and ED were just bad. The OP often used clips from the episode which I hate. It feels really lazy and spoiler-y. the songs themselves were extremely standard and I usually skipped them.
The characters were pretty inoffensive. I didn't actively hate any of them, but there were only a couple that I actually liked. Aona was the best character by far. I liked his story the most too. I liked that he was passionate about what he loved and he was clearly on the spectrum. I loved his little world and his relationship with Kuro. It felt pretty realistic too, a parent forcing their kids to do what they love instead of what the kid loves. The show felt like it was trying to tell me to forgive the dad but what he did seemed pretty unforgivable to me. Unfortunately, one of the worse characters was Dr. Ramune himself. He didn't feel very fleshed out to me, and most of the time he was actively annoying. There wasn't much nuance to his character. We don't get much of his backstory, so it is hard to relate to his motivations.
overall, I think it can be worth watching. It's pretty unique, and it has some good parts. There are definitely better things out there to watch, but if the premise intrigues you, you may get something out of it.

This show is a trainwreck. It was an absolute chore to get through. It was just so boring. If it sits in that curve of mediocrity where it's not good enough to be interesting, but it's not bad enough to be funny. It's just a very nothing show. I can't imagine anyone getting anything out of watching it. The characters are copy-pasted stereotypes with almost zero character development. At best they were tolerable, and at worst they were downright obnoxious. The worst offender was white-hair. Christ, he was terrible. He was constantly raving about his favorite anime girl Miruru. It would have been ok if
...
it was just a facet of his personality, but it is his entire personality. To the point that I remember Miruru's name and not his. It's honestly a little concerning. The only character who had any depth was Sho. His circumstances and tragedy were the only actually interesting parts of the show. It's sad they hardly talked about it after it happened until around the last episode.
The main reason this show feels so empty is because of the surfing itself. As someone unfamiliar with surfing techniques and scoring, this show didn't really teach me anything new. They never explained how you choose waves or the level of difficulty each move takes. I like sports anime like Haikyuu because you really get a feel for the sport they're playing. You can keep up with what's happening and tell if a character is doing bad or good. You get a sense of the difficulty of each move and come to appreciate the effort. In Surfing Yappe, a character briefly does a move and the announcer will call the name and say if it was good or not. There is no inner monologue telling us what they plan to do or how they'll do it. You can't even evaluate it yourself because they never teach you how. They also do a poor job of showing each character's individual strengths. I just have to assume they all surf the same because there is very little difference actually shown in how they surf.
I can't really say much on the story because there wasn't much of one. The goal was for Masaki to get good at surfing I guess? There isn't really a concrete path laid out for him to get there. The boys just kind of take things as they come. They don't often prepare for a specific competition and very little of the show is actually dedicated to these competitions. It feels like they mostly just hang around and talk about meaningless things more than actual surfing. The animation was so-so. It was pretty choppy at times and added nothing to the show. The CGI was ok, it didn't feel super necessary since they didn't really go all out with it. The VA was fine, nothing miscast or anything. The Engrish was pretty standard for anime. It was funny seeing them try and say slang.
Overall, not worth watching. Even if you like surfing, you will get nothing out of this. It's just that boring.

This show was a very mixed bag. There were some enjoyable parts, and I wouldn't say the plot or the animation was bad, it just got a lot of things very very wrong. The story revolves around Maeshima Kensei who is used to skate professionally before his parents died. His rival Shinozaki Reo is a skating prodigy who got bored with singles and is moving to the made-up sport of skate leading. His brother Hayato scouts Maeshima for skate leading to beat Shinozaki. This plot is actually pretty interesting in concept and isn't necessarily implemented poorly either. The main problem lies in the characters. Like
...
90% are assholes for absolutely no reason. They're not even likable assholes they're more like the 'I want them to get humiliated' assholes. I understand making Shinozaki's team unlikable because they're kinda the antagonists of the series. But god damn I wanted them stamped into the pavement so hard. Sometimes you just want these people to get their comeuppance in a story and not have it be all morally gray like it usually is in sports anime. But it was hard to feel any satisfaction when I feel like the protagonists' team was almost as unlikable.
Maeshima is really no fun at all. He's supposed to have that shounen protag energy but he comes off as selfish and disagreeable. I never felt like any of their team were actually friends, much less trusted teammates. We don't actually see them practice very often or do much in terms of team bonding. I wanted them to win, but only because I wanted to see Shinozaki lose and not because I actually felt they could or deserved to win. Their coach, who is a famous singles skater recovering from an injury, is one of the worst characters in the show. It takes him forever to actually teach them anything and he mostly just sits around and gives permission for stuff. What an insufferable person, wasting these kid's time and energy and not even teaching them properly. He's the one who took the job, and now these kids are left without a real coach. There was also a purple-haired boy who left the team near the beginning and his character arc is surprisingly poor. I understand his choice to quit the team, and I think that that was a good way for his character to go, but they almost stop showing him after that. He feels more like an afterthought than an actual character and his development mostly happened in like one flashback exposition scene.
Another major problem with the show is the lack of actual skating in it. I know that skate leading is a fake sport and that doesn't really matter much to me as long as it makes some sense. They never really explained the point system much which I'm sure really bothered some people but I wasn't super interested in that kind of stuff. I really just wanted to see the performances which I was, unfortunately, let down on. There is an embarrassingly small amount of skating in skate leading stars. this is especially sad because what they actually had was pretty good when it wasn't being bogged down by weird cuts and scene changes. I wouldn't have minded if they had used CGI for the skating because I know it's expensive, but they just stuck with showing as little as possible instead.
overall, if you want to look at pretty boys give it a shot, but if you are looking for ice skating/the sports anime experience I suggest just watching Yuri On Ice because it is much much better.

Jujutsu Kaisen was very entertaining but I do have some gripes. The animation was nothing short of spectacular. The dynamic action scenes were extremely entertaining and had a lot of good shots. The dark colors fit well with the nature of the curses. A lot of the character designs were simple but streamlined. The soundtrack was amazing and always pumped me for the fights. Especially the first OP by Eve. I'm glad a lot more people have taken notice of him now, he deserves it. The characters themselves are pretty good. Some of them don't get enough screentime for me to really form an opinion
...
but I have a feeling that they could become beloved given more time. I really like how the main three play off of each other. They can be genuinely hilarious. I'm glad that they're just pals and that there isn't some stupid love triangle between them, they just hang out and do teen stuff and sometimes beat the crap out of ghosts. It's refreshing compared to a lot of shounen. Gojo is the absolute best little shit and I love him. I want him to take his blindfold off and just stare at me for a while. The villains were kinda interesting, I wasn't super into them but the main guy's power was pretty cool. I really wish Sukuna had some more time or something. He's a big plot point but he hardly ever comes out or talks really. I wish he could have at least been more of a commentator. I do like his relationship with Yuuji. Yuuji just doesn't really care and the nonchalant way he deals with him is pretty funny. My main beef is just with the plot. It's VERY standard. This doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, but when you've seen so many similar shows it's hard to get genuinely intrigued or excited. It's just predictable from start to finish. I think this anime will be a much bigger hit with new fans or casual fans than with hardcore anime fanatics. Overall, it is completely worth watching and I would recommend it to anyone looking for good shounen.

I would have given this show an 8, if not for the very obvious repulsive flaw. The main character. The show has everything I could ever want in an isekai- beautiful animation, amazing worldbuilding, an interesting plot, and some steller (with exceptions) characters. But I just cannot in good faith overlook the absolutely shameful, disgusting, sexist actions taken by the protagonist. He is basically an incel in a child's body. He steals women's underwear, and he peaks on them when they're changing or in the shower. This is standard stuff in a lot of anime but often he takes it a step further. He attempts
...
to buy a date rape drug. He molests a child in her sleep and tries to remove her underwear. He thinks about sleeping with extremely young girls. He even mentions grooming his childhood friend into 'his women'. It is absolutely abhorrent behavior for someone who is mentally in his 40s. If the show did anything to tell us that his behavior is wrong, I might give them more credit but that does not appear to be the case. Rudy never gets into trouble for his behavior and it often seems as though he gets rewarded for it. There is a similar situation with his father, Paul. Paul cheats on his wife with the maid that works for their family. While he does get into trouble, it doesn't seem like too much, and the protagonist mentally congratulates him for getting with another woman. Paul also casually admits later that he sexually assaulted a woman later in the show. I'm still supposed to like him after this? I'm supposed to think that he's a good father and an admirable man? I just feel repulsed. It gets a little better as the show goes on as rudy is given less of a chance to be a pedo because of the plot, but I can see this changing as the show settles down a bit more in the future.
I'm very conflicted about recommending this show to people because on one hand, it's extremely entertaining and beautifully animated. On the other hand, the protagonist is actively a pedophile, and I'm not sure how I feel about supporting a show with these views. Can someone please make a version where they just edit out most of that shit? It honestly would do very little to the plot.

as the third in a line of generally pretty good webtoon adaptations, I had pretty high expectations for this show. while it didn't exactly hold up to all my hopes and dreams, this show is still pretty decent. The art is beautiful and crisp-looking. The animation is a little choppy at times but it still delivers. The intro song was very good (after getting used to that strange little intro bit) and I'm sad they took it off iTunes. The general sound design was noticibly good, and the voice acting was on point. The story and characters are mostly where the show struggles. Many
...
of the characters didn't feel fully fleshed out or just changed their conscience way too fast. It just felt like they rushed the first arc to get to the second one. Like purple hair man just kind of exists to exist? And the two school friends just get frantically shoved to the side so plot can happen. Regis had pretty decent development though, and his forming a little squad with the other three guys that live at Raizel's house was cute. I wish Raizel himself had more time to shine, but that's the downside to an OP protagonist I guess.
Overall, if you think that the concept is interesting then you might as well give this show a try.

This series had the potential to be good but fell short in too many categories to be redeemable. The premise was clichéd in many ways and I almost didn't bother watching it because it seemed like just another trash Isekai that comes out every season. What convinced me to watch it was the unique spin where they split time between the real world and the other magic one. Coupled with the fact that they touted the protagonist as a messed up guy who is willing to sacrifice his friends without a second thought, I decided I would give the show a shot. I didn't have
...
my hopes too high, but I was still very disappointed.
Firstly, the animation was extremely poor. If an anime has a good story and compelling characters, I can usually overlook the quality of the animation but unfortunately, this show has neither one. The movements of the characters were atrocious and the style was extremely forgettable. A lot of the backgrounds were super empty and boring. The protagonist actually looks like an NPC villager. I honestly don't even remember his name and I finished watching the anime a couple of hours ago. The CGI was even worse and I feel like they didn't even need to use it much of the time. The game master hardly even moves, why didn't they just animate him normally? I remember in the last episode they used it for a car that never even budged an inch the entire episode. It's so random.
The characters were robotic and boring. Other than a few scattered moments here and there, there were no good dialogue or character building. The only one who was semi-interesting was the protag. I wish they would have gone in harder with his personality instead of just the occasional weird villain monologue. The romance was almost non-existent, thank god, this show would make a terrible harem. The side characters were beyond forgettable and sometimes downright stupid. Glasses girl was the worst by far in this respect. She was extremely irritating.
The story was intriguing but didn't really deliver. There was enough mystery to keep me watching, I wish they had given more time to the non-fantasy world though. I think it would be interesting to see more character development or consequences of their experiences in the other world. They kind of delivered on this in the last episode which was probably the best one, but I don't think it makes up for all the squandered potential in the previous episodes. They tried to tackle death in a meaningful way in some of the episodes but it felt very unearned for me. I don't feel like the protagonist has a right to feel bad about any of this stuff, he's the one who just assumed things. I will not be counting on this show to try and go into mental health issues correctly.
I'm not sure why, but I will probably watch season 2. I feel like there is a chance it could get better if it just improved its writing. And I am somewhat interested in where the plot will go and the overlaying mystery of the game master. That is not to say that I recommend it though, I don't even think this is worth a hate-watch, it's not quite bad enough for that.

I felt like I was being thrown back into my early teens when watching this show. I can tell that it's really going for that 13-year-old girl with a crush on a long-dead serial killer fanbase. I saw some people in the comments saying that this was their first anime, and I am very sorry that this was their first impression of anime because it gets so much better than this. I guess everyone has to have their cringe first anime obsession though. I also feel obliged to mention that other people in the comments were talking about shipping Zack and Racheal and that is
...
just so wrong in so many ways. I can just see the disgusting fanfiction warping the impressionable minds of these children now.
In my point of view, however, this show is just some low-tier horror garbage. Maybe the video game is better but I've never played it so I'm just going to talk about the anime. The story is pretty nonsensical and is never really fleshed out. How did they get down there? It kind of seemed like Racheal lived there the whole time but also not? did they never eat or anything or drink? How long were they down there? Who did it and why? None of these things are ever explained. It seemed like they could have used the last episode to explain some of these things but the building is rarely mentioned. It seems like the weird religious stuff was supposed to feel really deep, but that kind of stuff rarely works unless you do it really well. I think a lot of shows will just throw Christian symbolism into their plots to make it feel more interesting and profound. When in reality it's just bullshit that covers up how boring and meaningless the show actually is.
The characters ranged from boring and forgettable to completely nonsensical. A lot of them were just one-off villains who had very little screen time and I never really cared about. I also never really felt like Zack or Racheal were ever in any real danger from them. Zack was portrayed as almost superhuman and was constantly losing huge amounts of blood without any real consequences. And I knew Racheal wasn't going to die until possibly at the end because of the promise. Every time Danny appeared on screen I simultaneously wanted to laugh and cry because the fact that he was still alive was absolutely ridiculous every single time. He was really just being used to drive the plot along and force Racheal and Zack to go to different places to drag out the show. It really didn't need sixteen episodes at all. The message of the show also confused me. It portrayed these serial killer characters as these pure fallen angels who just happened to kill people. Not once does the series actually tell us this is a bad thing. We're just supposed to root for them anyway. I think you can like characters that kill people, but I don't think offing random dudes in an alleyway is supposed to be a positive personality trait.
Overall I think that this show is not worth watching unless you're going to cringe watch it with some friends.
