Kubo is basically a milder, inferior version of Bokuyaba. It does have sturdier visuals though.

- Essentially a girls' show; female target audience - But not overwhelmingly so. - Juvenile supernatural (youkai) elements - Faux-light-hearted-creepy-darkness-looming atmosphere - Multiple pairing casual(?) romance

Comparable tone- manic, slightly bizarre setting with a similarly strange sense of humour, yet also shows hints of a much larger, serious overarching plot. And 2D lore, 3D transformation fights.

At the very least, the first arc is almost identically constructed. But I expect more similarities.

If you're familiar with both, you'd see that these two are notably similar. Concepts rooted in Eastern spiritualism, otherworld/doing something with that otherworld, powers, youkais, etc etc. Cool visuals is a common feature too. However, KnK is the much inferior version.

Token recommendation as these two are probably the closest to each other out of the CGDCT pack, much more so than the show that has the highest rec count for Comic Girls at this point(April 21 2018), which is New Game Both Kirara, similar subject, not identical but comparable relations/dynamics between the main cast, and a slightly serious/coming-of-age tone towards the main character

These two are NOT similar. However if you like one then you will probably like the other, they have some parallel points in enjoyment; the atmospheric and half-minimalistic tone, light social commentary, professionally crafted and unanimelike shots and carefully constructed, immersive dialogue. Both look good too. If SSR is Slowdive, HnK is Sigur Ros.
